Yes. Great points!
Testing is key and in this interview I do not give importance to the rigor of what is really required to brew and apply compost tea extracts.
Great point in knowing what is actually in your Tea,just like knowing what is actually in your compost.
I have come to know good compost and do periodic testing and request tests from suppliers to understand. Earlier in I did microscope testing and worked with actual "experts" and found enough consistency when using good high quality compost-that has gone through a monitoring process of temperature and time, that after 6-8 hrs (in my situation) the populations and energy is at its peak for an extract with fungal relationships at 10-12 hours it changes to be more bacterial dominated.
I use a pH pen as well as a EC meter to also test potency.
De-chlorinate the water is important.
Using tea as a foliar or soil soak has many benefits and really depends on what you are targeting - feeding the soil or more primarily the plant. Both in symbiotic relationships and effecting each other. the soil micro biome or the plants life process. The details to all this are important and the soil food web is a multilayered living entity that demands attention and observation.
This was really good!
glad you enjoyed it Spaceman! 👊
Definitely a interview here that needs to be followed up with a more in depth tutorial. And not just me talking about it!
Few added notes
Fungal teas mo better than bacterial teas in most cases and no need for added sugars or molasses.
Aeration helps multiple beneficial micro-organisms and has much better success than anaerobic teas.
Many farmers use teas when plants get sick rather than preventative medicine. In that situation results are pretty impressive and combined with other strategies and sprays applied can accelerate uptake.
Don't consider myself an expert just a couple of decades of experience and learning.
I will film our next brew session to share!
Can't wait to see the brewing session!
Very informative video, thanks. One point I didn't see (or might have just missed) is whether the final compost tea from the brew is applied to the soil 'neat' or whether it is in itself diluted. I ask because I have seen some 'recipes' online for how to brew compost tea and they say to dilute the final tea down by about 10:1 before applying it. Would you apply it diluted or neat?
Awesome video. fabulous stuff dude.
Is there such a thing a a tea for awful agricultural soil? To start new beds
Manure teas ....More please
Love this video
Will upload some more info
Would love to know dilution from brew to water. Many thanks
I have one question about the tea bag, once you have put all the beneficial microbes and nutrients in it, how long to you let it in the brewer? Do you let it just a few minutes or the whole time it is brewing?
The bag stays in for the whole time!
What do you think about JADAM Microbial solution ? No brewer, avoiding molasse due to Ph, no bubbler as in the soil microorganism are mostly anaerobic
Yes. Amazing stuff and benefits with both. My experience has been that the when the soil goes Anaerobic you get a increase in pathogens and non-beneficial relationships- however I have not had as much applied experience with KNF techniques to really speak to its intricate connections.
Way to say Watch the video on how you did it, Then not making it available, way to share the knowledge!
Hi Pete, that video will be out tomorrow! (Wednesday, June 7). Sorry for any confusion 🙂
How do you know if it appropriate tea or compost
Have you done any microscopic testing if not then you have no idea what you are talking about
How do you know if for how long you have to brew ?
If no biological testing done its just testing
Tea is applicable to foliage and extract goes on soil
Le as rm from the expert you mentioned in the video that will be totally opposite to what you are saying
I don’t want to offend you I was thinking same until I am learning from the expert
