Mughal architecture has had an enduring impact on the subcontinent. But it is a dead art, the last of it's practitioners had perished long ago. It took a Master architect to bring it back to life.
Kamil Khan Mumtaz since his younger years had dedicated himself to the modern architectural movements. But as years passed, his appreciation for Lahore's vernacular lead him on a unique journey into our proud history!
The Master is full of wisdom. Understand things very well.

Abhi kuch log baqi hain jehan mein. A painstaking effort to put all glorious past mughal architecture together. Kamil Khan is a driving force behind this project and his son Taimoor is doing great work to keep this inheritance alive.

Hats off to the architect and owner for bringing a grand vision to reality. Sounds cliched but feeling speechless after watching this out of the world monument.
I am a student of Permaculture. Sustainable architecture, lifestyle and consumption choices are the bedrock of this philosophy.
For instance, if one builds a Zero Energy home but 50 Kms from his workplace, then it becomes meaningless. I am glad they are using solar energy but I certainly would have used industrial insulation material too.
In the end the buildings should be designed to last long without an annual maintenance bill.
I am also a little puzzled by the absence of greenery within the courtyard.

I totally agree with the concept of it all. Our old architecture was so apt for our local environment, but modern construction took over and destroyed the environment.
But, I would like to see how this kind of sustainable architecture/ structure can be brought to lower classes who are not pretty in their pockets!
It has alot of options to adopt for lower classes, like Madam Yameen Lari's initiatives.
@Banjaiga I would like to get the details of her project. I saw the vlogs but do not know whom to contact for cheap building options. I would appreciate it if you could help.
I've watched both documentaries and they are amazing, the only problem is that there is not a lot off colour and greenery in this home, I totally understand that this project must cost a bomb, but seeds don't cost anything. With the love that this Artetiect put into his work, it seems to have been forgotten by the residence, what a shame.
It's built on the Mughal Architecture, It supposed to be as it is.

If the Mughals of that time were alive today, they would surely bring some modernity in this building. Some classics, some modern experiments are done and a beautiful masterpiece comes out. I have said this because if you look at the classics, it is nothing but an effort, but this effort is really worth it. Looking at this building, it seems that justice could not be done completely with both that era and this era, so it would have been better if some things had been innovated. But most importantly, the customer's demand, if he is satisfied with the building, then well done.

My nana house is similar to this building in Ali pur, it was not that big it was built on area around 1 kanal and one plot was left empty attached to it for gardening..it was an old sikh house. the doors, the bricks were same the outlay of the house was same!ahh soo nostalgic! The main gate of house was of wood ,a huge wood door ! I wish i can go back
