  • Completed in 2015, The HarSukh art residency is the residence of former Chief Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and his wife, renowned classical dance trainer Bina Jawad. The HarSukh mansion is a modern experiment on Islamic/ Mughal architecture, and it was designed and built by none other than Master Architect Kamil Khan Mumtaz
It houses an art residency, an amphitheater, and music facilities. It is the most successful contemporary example of the use of traditional fat and ribbed dome brick construction.
Hurr Sukh is a “haveli”; imposing but not ostentatious. The building rises up from the fields surrounding it. as if it were a timeless feature of the Punjabi landscape.

WOW. Another tour should also be conducted by Kamil sahab himself to educate as to why we need to have certain spaces and material for building in contrast to what we have adopted by using vernaculars of architecture.

“Har sukh” the name speaks for itself. I loved watching it thoroughly and enjoyed the inputs of two young Architects, who cherished the vision of the Master Architect Kamil K Mumtaz.
I think it was a thorough learning curve and an observation treat for both these guys Mustafa and Saif. I wish them good luck for their future projects.
Kudos to the whole team of Architects, the unsung Masons and craftsmen who bought this vision into a reality. Congrats to Mrs Bina Jawad and Mr Jawad Khwaja on creating HAR SUKH mansions.
Just want to add that this type of brick work masonry is almost an extinct and a dying art. I have seen a similar work in State of Haryana in Bharat 🇮🇳 in village Havelis but at a relatively smaller scale. Nonetheless, the idea of minimal use of cement, mortar, iron saria etc and using virgin bricks and limestone as binding agent is brilliant and way too different in modern times. That said, our old heritage buildings which were made in such way are still standing stronger than cement, mortar made modern buildings.
In some old forts made during Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s rule in 1650s in State of Maharashtra and Goa in Bharat the buildings were made with limestone and a grinded lentil or humble Daal which was pointed at one time by Saif Siddiqui.
Respect for the science of Architecture and such accomplished Master Architects like Kamil k Mumtaz & the team of Masons and craftsman he leads.
    Well done.

A year ago I saw a video on RUclips about hersukh school and that has fascinated me to the extent that I must visit this wonderful place.
Thanks to you people now I have more from the house.
    Important points about the video:
Very good filming and scene ingredients
    Very good audio overall
Poor coordination of camera with discussion
Poor Q&As with house owner to catch his concept
But still happy with your effort.
    Thanks.

Just AWESOME. I have been looking around the whole world for someone who can offer Mughal architecture in this modern era. That being said, if I were to build a house for myself, I would need exactly the same building material and same architecture to be used for my upcoming dream project, no matter what.
In my viewpoint, there should be no mobile, no internet, no television, no electricity. Just the same as it used to be in Mughal era.

    Assalamalaikum,
Wonderful building and designs of courtyard.
In Bethlehem, church of nativity where Jesus AS was born, there was a big arch for entrance. In olden times the rulers used to enter it on their horses with arrogance but when muslim ruler came in power, they used bricks inside the arch to reduce entrance narrow & height to 5 feet only and now it is called entrance of humility.

Really long video. Needed more visuals and less discussions, especially about topics that are pretty evident. Needed editing. Interesting home. Good to see traditional architecture but both global influence and technology have their pros too. The world is no longer localized so there's no going back in time. All we can do is tie the past and present to create something new which is why I wished they had incorporated the solar panels in a more pleasing manner. Merging their blue-gray tones into the roof may have been more soothing for an aerial view. Just a thought. But glad to see a channel devoted to architecture. Kudos.

I’ve watched your other videos too and have taken a few decisions for my interior and exterior. Very good initiative to show our tradition vis a vis the high glossy show room type houses we see these days.

I am getting my house designed and this is the kind of architecture I want but even the architect is not getting my point. how about you guys do a documentary on a house in line with our traditional or rather Mughal architecture with arches, bramdas and a courtyard in 1kanal (if such a house even exists).the old houses in villages were not even a kanal, but they had all these elements may be dining, study, and two kitchens were not part of those houses which made it possible.no society bylaws either.what about old souls like me who can only afford a kanal but have an eye for old Mughal style or Moorish or Mediterranean one.

    • @Banjaiga
      @Banjaiga  3 года назад +1

Basically, all these things comes with demand and supply issue. there is very less demand of such designs because of construction time and limitations. That's why most of the builders hesitate to start on something like this.
and definitely it depends more on client than a builder/architect. because of patience. Well if you are facing any trouble regarding some architect/builder/material, yu can always call Banjaiga.
