In the 80's growing up as a teen, John Arch was my favorite singer and Awaken the Guardian my favorite album. It is SOOOO awesome that John Arch is singing again. I love this!
Yes ive been listening to him since 1984 got to see him live twice. And ray 5 times. I saw ray in 1988 when he could hit the high notes and funny thing is dream theater opened for them. Now I'm into opeth
I was in the first row and I cried like a baby. This was more than epic and I'm more than thankful that I was a part of this epic and yet unreal show! Thanks John!
What I just witnessed....absolutely fantastic! Hearing John's voice again brings back my belief in music. I bought "The Spectre Within" when it was released and I can truly say that FW changed the way I listen to music. Thank you Jim and John for forming this band way back in the 80s and then reuniting so many years down the line. I will be forever grateful!
Wow!!!! Can not believe me eyes and ears. John you are an inspiration to us all. What a way to end a classic album, Awaken The Guardian and a concert! Post more of the concert please!
Killer, still gives me the chills after 20+years. I'm so happy to hear these songs played live, it is a blast from the past and a hope for the future. I hope the band had as much fun as the audience.
I have listened to this album countless times. Never thought I'd see a good live performance of this material. John Arch is pretty fucking awesome. I honestly don't like any other bands FW is compared to. These guys were the shit for their time. Thanks for sharing.
+jimmyshitbags Agreed, they were genre defining for that type of sound. I like Ray's stuff equally. Voices are almost incomparable, but each the best of its type.
This is an Amazing Vid!!.. I cried many times just seeing the Emotion in John and the crowd.. I mean, 25 years without touching a stage, and his performance is stunning!!!.. A true inspiration. Thanks a million for the upload!!!. Cheers!
omg omg omg..........It's him!!! Look at him! He is fucking amazing still! God I cant say enough how happy this makes me to see him NOW up there belting out classics. looks great for 53 too.
Its just so amazing this even happened. The new album was easily the best metal record of the last few years, and then these performances of these utterly brilliant, unique songs. I wish I'd been there and I certainly hope there are more, but massive thanks to all who took the time to record.
no singer in Metal exhibits Staccato and Staccatissimo more than John Arch; combined with his glittering upper register - he is nothing short of a virtuoso, unfort no audio engineer has been able to capture his presence on tape...
drove 700 miles each way to be front n center. hit hartford 4pm. show. brought night on brocken vinyl for autograph. pulled off turnpike at 4am to sleep. regret nothing
Fates Warning is just like Iron Maiden, when they play live sounds like your listening to the CD. Plus it's nice to see they played this song like it was back in the 80's!
Any chance of seeing some footage of the new material? The only old song no one has uploaded is "The Sorceress" and not one person has uploaded any video of the new songs.
I am feeling a pull from many sides of the force. I think this band wants to reform for it's past and yet still likes the corse it set for the future. I would suggest Fates Warning continues in two forms the classic line up and the old line up while on tour.
I hope the energy we've seen, the crowd's reaction, and John's reaction on stage means he's more willing to tour. It looked like both he and the crowd were loving it. If this and the next concert are experiments to see if he feels like touring, I think we can guess what the results are gonna be. So when's he hitting Oregon? \m/
Come back John Arch! He is and always has been a better vocalist for Fates Warning imo. Awaken The Guardian is also by far their best album. Even though Jim Matheos would disagree!
I like a lot of the Alder era Fates but it's been obvious for some time Ray has lost both a lot of his range - and that happens as male singers get older - and also his enthusiasm as a frontman. Just my impression. It is truly awesome to have this reunion, of sorts, in my lifetime. I had just got into FW when they started having lineup changes...
+Zatoichi444 Not sure but I do not think his voice would have held up as well if he did music full time. He sounds exactly like on Awaken The Guardian ( for the most part)
Clearly you never been exposed to the music buisness, and I am sure you think these guys have money galore, think again. I say each of these members probably make enough to barely get by, and that is living minumistically, and provided that their wives are working too. maybe 30 years ago it would have been better. But there are so many bands out there nowaday, plus with RUclips, cd sales are down. Most bands hardly make any money off their cd's anymore. By the way, John Arch is a contractor, he has a day job. And even though you are ignorant tp his situation, I understand his position and his dress does not bother me.'

Awaken The Guardian was,is and will always be, my all-time favorite metal album!
YESSSSSSS
His vocals are still the same after 25 years! Amazing!
"Awaken The Guardian" a true milestone for both classic american Power Metal AND Prog Metal.......
There is nobody on this earth that can touch his vocal delivery style, which is something I hace cherished for 30+ years now.
Yes ive been listening to him since 1984 got to see him live twice. And ray 5 times. I saw ray in 1988 when he could hit the high notes and funny thing is dream theater opened for them. Now I'm into opeth
John u are a legend..we love u..!!!!!!
Epic moment at 4:15. Just like the fucking album!! John don't leave us again. Your lyrics inspire us all!
Pure gold. Best album ever. Would love to be there, can't believe I missed it.
PS: At 7.02, the high pitched voice is a mystery to me
I was in the first row and I cried like a baby.
This was more than epic and I'm more than thankful that I was a part of this epic and yet unreal show! Thanks John!

A historic moment in metal.
FUUUUUUUUCK John Arch sounds amazing! This is the first I've heard him in a long time! Was not even aware of this new band!!
WOW!
Keep it True. Very appropriate name, for this crowd is the definition of true metalheads.
Wow!!!! Can not believe me eyes and ears. John you are an inspiration to us all. What a way to end a classic album, Awaken The Guardian and a concert! Post more of the concert please!
This crowd is awesome. They are true fans.

He still nails those high notes that Tate, Alder, and Dickinson just can't do any longer. What a voice,
We used to play this song and our singer hated this song cause he could not hit the high notes. Your right one of the hardest song to sing!
My fav F.W. song. Just amazing. Greetings from Russia province
ARCHways to Perfection !

Arch is the Bomb!

Arch seems celebrating being able to sing some notes. He's a genius.
Wow.
the true voice music john arch
How much I would pay to see these guys...
Any chance of seeing some footage of the new material? The only old song no one has uploaded is "The Sorceress" and not one person has uploaded any video of the new songs.
I repent for cussing out Fates Warning after their 4th album, Jim Matheos came through for us early fans after all.
I am feeling a pull from many sides of the force. I think this band wants to reform for it's past and yet still likes the corse it set for the future. I would suggest Fates Warning continues in two forms the classic line up and the old line up while on tour.

Wow...can that dude ever sing...
this is to all the people in my school in the 80"s...."whose fucking band is still jamming"
Fucken brilliant!!!!!!!!
Come back John Arch! He is and always has been a better vocalist for Fates Warning imo. Awaken The Guardian is also by far their best album. Even though Jim Matheos would disagree!
Live, John seems like the Bob Ross of heavy metal :-x I'm not sure what that means....
it seems ive wasted a month of life as im just finding these vids :|
I like a lot of the Alder era Fates but it's been obvious for some time Ray has lost both a lot of his range - and that happens as male singers get older - and also his enthusiasm as a frontman. Just my impression. It is truly awesome to have this reunion, of sorts, in my lifetime. I had just got into FW when they started having lineup changes...
And lets be fair. Pitch and tone of John Arch in this video is in no way spot on. He's having difficulties with the song himself here.
Lol, john did jazz-hands at the end...Love him to death, amazing singer, but totally the Bob Ross of metal, haha.
If I was there I wouldve spaz'd out
IM FUCKING JEALOUS AS FUCK
How is it he can still belt it out like that, rubberbands around his nads? 🤪
This guy must be a castrati or something to still sing like that
+Daniel Ferreira LOL! I honestly wonder if I'm the only one that knows what you meant.
Maybe his erx kicked him in the balls so hard that he has been a soprano exer since-haha!
John has to get the fucking bug to play more dates.....efghijhjkefghijhk
So is Arch a roofer or something? Cuz that's what he dresses like. What does he do that is so important, that he couldn't devote his life to music?
+Zatoichi444 Not sure but I do not think his voice would have held up as well if he did music full time. He sounds exactly like on Awaken The Guardian ( for the most part)

Zatoichi444
Glad I could. Peace !
Zatoichi444
By the way in case you are interested, John Arch's day job is builds, restores and refinishs custom funiture
This is fucking ridiculous. (in a good way)
