It is lovely over there. Port Townsend, Fort Warden, Fort Flagler, and small towns. Coupville runs the Pen Cove Musselfest for those seafood fans. Lots of photo spots for that Pacific Northwest on the coast vibe.
I dont want to downgrade your photos or anything - but I think the way you colorgrade your video footage and how you film etc is SO NICE! Great Stuff over all! 🙌🏼 greetings from Germany!
I grew up and learned photography on Whidbey - great to see your perspective of these area I’ve photographed. Good times!! I just got back into film this year, subscriber :-)
Another perfect video! I love this amount of commentary in your vids man it’s perfect combo of chill and giving us some behind the scenes on the photos, I’ve had my dogs leash wrap around my tripod twice now and it’s always the scariest moment ever hahaha glad the Nikon was saved!
Rosario beach is one of my favorite stops around sunset time. The environment there changes so much throughout the year(s) and it's always pretty with a light rain and sunlight.
It's always a joy to watch your videos man, they really make me inspired and relaxed at the same time. Thank you for sharing your work, keep doing what you're doing!
This is so good and inspirational! Love seeing as creative and artistic as you give perspective on the beauty in Washington State! Truly love your work and really invokes me to go out and shoot, thank you Dylan for sharing! Hope to be able to meet you someday.
keep up the good work brother. inspiried by your work, soothed by your style, and hyped for every release. been shooting wildlife on dslrs but looking to pursue some more along the lines of what you do so this content is exactly what ive been looking for!! blessings
Unreal as always dude! Colors and compositions were insane throughout. Moving next year and my fiancé and I have placed Washington state in the top 3 of choices. Both hikers over here in the East Coast so nature is a driving force for where we move but your videos give us the itch to come out there asap! Cheers man
Thanks so much, Will! Our move west from Ohio was definitely one of the best decisions we’ve made. We always had to travel across the country to do any worthwhile hiking and road trips, now we can just head a few hours up into the mountains. Appreciate you watching and good luck with the move!
I live on Hat Island which you can see from Langley on Whidbey! Our home is on the top of the island looking out over Camano in the center with a view of Langley to the left and Mt Baker to the right. I do photography every day out here usually. Just got a 200mm to 500mm lens for my Nikon D5300 some weeks ago...need to get a big zoom lens for the Sony A73. Cool you shoot film! Saw this on my recommended videos and thought it would be nice to see how others view our area. From the dock and the pier you went to, you can see our island! I have a satin robe from Coupesville and went to Port Townsend for a poetry symposium at 14 years old. Now at 60, we go there regularly. What a nice video you shared.
God, you are SO good. You have potentially my favourite looking images coming out of that Sony. I'm only 20 seconds in, but I get so inspired watching your videos
Lived in Kent and Puyallup growing up (early-mid 80’s) before spending most my adult years down in Portland until 2017. Still love to visit the PNW (especially this time of year lol). Always enjoy your beautiful videos🙏
Very cool, thanks for sharing that. It’s such a wonderful part of the world. Living in the northwest for the past few years has opened up so many new experiences for us so far. Appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching!
I greatly appreciate that you hit us with sinister vibes instead of light and airy music to start this one off hahaha. Also been loving the presets, really adaptable and easy to tweak into what I want them to be.
Haha yesss I tried writing some different styles but it only felt right going more mysterious with the conditions we had on this one. I’m so glad you have found the preset system valuable! Adaptability is what I was really aiming for with the design so it makes me very happy to hear that.
As a photographer living on Whidbey (I'm like 3 minutes from your airbnb lol), I really enjoy seeing your take on the things I take for granted these days. You picked a fairly dramatic time to come, we don't get much snow, but winter definitely has its beautiful moments here. Good choices checking out Bowman Bay and Rosario. If you ever come back to visit there's a lot more around that's worth checking out, especially if you aren't opposed to hiking
Oh wow, that’s awesome! Appreciate you taking the time to watch. Really beautiful over there, one heck of a place to call home. I’m sure we’ll be back in the region to do some hiking one day. Feels like we barely scratched the surface of that region.
These are simply unreal. I have a trip to the PNW coming up and am using these as inspiration. How do you expose Portra 400? Do you rate at 200, shoot box speed, or some other technique?
Is there any advise or starting point you can give me to make video scenes like the ones you showed us here... I feel like the video type/quality you are presenting here is what I dream to do but i just dont know where to start with the whole video situation... I only know about photography.
Thank you for the kind words! I’ve been in video production for around 12 years now, far before I took an interest in photography, so I think it’s just something that’s come from experience in the industry. With that said, understanding frame rates, 180 shutter, proper exposure, shooting in log and the basics of color grading are all key foundational concepts that I’d start learning first.
That ferry ride is so great when both Baker and Rainier are out. (used to live above Ebey Landing, near Coupeville)
Ah wow I bet!

Hey, thank you so much! Appreciate that feedback. 🤘
Finding a scene with a good red element is like finding gold. Hard for the eye to not be drawn to it. Excellent video as always 🙌🏼
Couldn't agree more! Thanks man, really appreciate your support.
Very nice work! Another fellow washington photographer here. Glad to have ran into your channel!
Hey, thanks!
good lord. 5 seconds in and I am FLOORED by the colors. Gorgeous
Ahhh love to hear that! Thank you 🙏
Good ole Whidbey... you captured it well. Also, your comps & colors were on point!
Much appreciated! Whidbey is so unique, had a lot of fun there.
I’ve said it before, but your colour work is 🤌🏼 the consistency between video, digital stills and film is magic. Well done!
Really appreciate the kind words! Funny how your tastes can guide you to a similar result on so many different mediums.
That coffee shop - Better Living through Coffee (6:55) - serves some of the best coffee I have ever had.
We got coffee and a few cookies from there. Pretty delish from what I recall 👌
I grew up and learned photography on Whidbey - great to see your perspective of these area I’ve photographed. Good times!! I just got back into film this year, subscriber :-)

It was something special for sure!
These are lovely photos. Good ol Carl, what a good boy.
Appreciate that! He’s a good dude, I’ll give him a pat on the head for ya 🫡
My God your sets are always so amazing. I seriously love your content man
Really kind of you man, thanks so much 🥹🙏

Brilliant as always. I’m calm again 😂
Thanks so much! Haha, that’s awesome. 🧘♂️
Really good work, man!
Thanks a lot!
Holy cats. This is so impressive. Wow. I'm hooked!
Thank you Chris! Really appreciate that.
Great video! Waiting for my own film scans from Whidbey to arrive from the lab soon 🤞 you captured it beautifully
Exciting stuff! Thanks so much for that 🙏

Cool video. Glad I found your channel. As a film photographer and travel vlogger myself I really enjoyed your style
Awesome, thank you! Appreciate you taking the time 🤘

Really enjoyed this dude! I'm going to start letting you put me to sleep.
Thanks dude! Hahaha I’ll take it.
That intro.....!!??? So amazing

Such a beautiful place to grow up, dude. 🫶
As a beagle owner, I feel that (with the deer situation haha)
Hounds are the best! Haha
Yo this is dope bro! Love it! Happy I came across your page! Sub boiiiii
Appreciate it!! 🤘
Super dope video! Did you make the music yourself? I see the modular beat making contraption behind you so i wondered
I make the music for all of my intro montages! I wish I had time to do it all but I’d only be able to put one video out every 6 months LOL
I like how you story tell/document your photo trips. Did you make all the music for the video?
Ah thanks, really appreciate the compliment. I do write the music for all of my intro montages! The rest is from epidemic sound.
Very nice video. Wich scan did u use ? The tones are so warm, like gold 200 ! thans for ur work
@@maxgnd2893 Thank you! I dev and scan at home and convert them using negative lab pro.
With a mirrorless camera and macro
this photos edited after scan ? i think its too much oversharp/structure... )) but video is awesome as always, very atmospheric and inspiring )))
You should listen to Charlesthefirst.
Lovely video as always.
Noted! Thanks for that 🙏
I never shot film but I am starting to consider it. I have a canon EOS 650 laying arround, not sure if it works though
It’s such a fun process. The results can of course be unique as well, but the process is what keeps me coming back. Give it a go!
These are simply unreal. I have a trip to the PNW coming up and am using these as inspiration. How do you expose Portra 400? Do you rate at 200, shoot box speed, or some other technique?
Thank you! I usually rate Portra 400 at 200 ISO, overexposing by a stop.
@@DylanSpitz Thanks for that info! One more question, when you're rating at 200, are you still metering for shadows?
@@thisisrobf usually metering for the subject itself. Unless it’s a backlit scene, then I’ll meter for the shadows. 👍
@@DylanSpitz thanks dylan! appreciate the responses. Keep up the great videos!

6x24 is highly intriguing
