Yeah you’re colour grading is awesome but your audio cues are great as well, that little ticking noise during the intro gave a really cool sense of passing time. I’m a fan of the little things, keep it up!!
Just found your videos sir and you deserve way more views. Great depth in your explanations and the video/image/audio quality to back it up. You're absolutely killing it my guy!
Love this. One of my favorite things about the Oregon coast is how moody it can get. If you ever go back to the Oregon coast I highly recommend proposal rock in Neskowin Oregon. Thanks for all the tips! Love the side shooting concept.
Thank you! Totally agree, that constant change of conditions is a part of what makes it special. Neskooooooo, one of my favorite places on the coast! Incredible memories on that stretch. Glad you enjoyed the video, I appreciate the comment.
Hey, thanks! Ahh that's awesome. I write all of the music for the intro montages on my RUclips videos, at the moment that's the only place my music exists haha. Still trying to find the time to sit down and actually release some stuff.
I was just in Bandon! On a road trip up the coast into the Hoh Rainforest. That area was delightful. Loved the video, beautiful to watch and definitely will be using the side light technique.
Thank you for sharing this content with us. To someone on a completely different side of the world, who is engaged in photography as a hobby, it means when he sees another side of the world or hears some good advice - like the color wheel trick. Also, the room you are shooting from is awesome, the light is beautiful.
Really happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Always fun to learn little techniques and ways of thinking like that. Also, thank you about the room - took me a while to get it to this point but I'm really enjoying it.
Appreciate that, I’m working on it - unfortunately RUclips isn’t paying any bills for me at this point so all those projects have to take the back seat on the ol’ priority list in life. Hang in there, though 🙏
What kind of film simulations are you using? Interesting approach vs shooting raw without a somewhat preview for the direction of the edit! Thanks in advance!
I don’t really do much in camera, usually just hopping between like classic chrome or black and white. Sometimes velvia to really push saturation. But all of those are simply for visualizing, not for actually starting an edit from raw or anything.
Mind sharing any of the film simulation settings you use as a profile to get an idea of a future edit in post, kind of like the stormy photos near the end of the video? Are you mostly leaning on Classic Chrome or Provia? If so, any baseline set of settings you might be able to share?
My everyday setting is usually classic chrome, gives a nice neutral palette. That particular scene you're asking about - I remember I wanted everything exaggerated while shooting so I used velvia and cranked the white balance down to get in that headspace.
Can/will you tell me which recipe you use for those photos ? I have bought the Fujifilm XT5 and I love it and I am totally in love with finding goog recipes 😅😊
Man, seeing this vid I'd expect that you have made 100 videos before it on this channel. But this is just the 14th one you've posted. Really impressive stuff for such a small backlog of videos, have you been doing this long?
Hey, thanks so much! I've been shooting video/photo professionally since 2014, but new to the RUclips space - trying to make it more of a focus moving forward, we'll see what happens!
Oh man! What a great video Dylan! Absolutely love your color grading / photo editing btw! You've really nailed the look, but it only makes sense, knowing you come from a videography background. May I ask you how long you roughly spend on average on a single photo edit?
Thanks a ton! Really happy to hear that. That's also a great question - I would say on average between 10-15 minutes per image. Sometimes longer, but that usually indicates that I'm trying to rescue a photo that wasn't great to begin with.
Just stumbled upon your channel, I just ordered a 35mm f2 for my Pentax k1000 after seeing your focal length video, excited to go out and get the creativity out.
Yeah you’re colour grading is awesome but your audio cues are great as well, that little ticking noise during the intro gave a really cool sense of passing time. I’m a fan of the little things, keep it up!!
Appreciate that you notice the details! Thanks so much for the feedback 🙏
Haha good catch! I felt that something pleased me at the beginning, but I couldn't figure out what. :)
Bravo @Dylan

Awesome looking modular synth setup! Would love to hear your music. I also come from a music production background, doing photography now!

Your videos are amazing, just found your channel. Your sound selection is also great. Where do you source them?
Thank you! I write the music for the intro montages (when there is one) - everything else is from my epidemic sound subscription
Great stuff Dylan. Love the colors.

Ahh thank you!
Could you create a video demonstrating how you achieved this film's color grading? I love the color feeling.
Thanks for the compliment! I will definitely cover my color grading in future videos! Thanks.
Do you have Lut for video that also works in LOG, or maybe PowerGrade?
I do not…YET. But keep an eye out 👀

Love it!
