This is why I feel its always really important to dive into other guitarists styles. You might find something that sounds simple to your ears can be a big challenge because the guitarists starts with upstrokes or picks every note without any legato. Little things like that can really push you out of your comfort zone if you have already developed your playing to do the opposite. Its really challenging to re-program your brain and fingers to do something that feels unnatural.
It took me about two weeks practicing for at least an hour a day to learn just up to the verse in this song. I'm not an amazing guitarist by any means (or even a good one for that matter), but if I could learn it, you definitely can. Don't let it scare you; make stabwound your bitch!

Rarely anything gets me excited like this band did when i was learning their stuff. Epitaph is still one of my favorite albums ever, and it never would have been, had i not tried to learn it.

It's so curious to see videos trying to learn a new song. It's great to see guitarists in every video in RUclips doing crazy stuff perfectly, but this helps to make it clear that everybody needs practice and there's work behind those songs that they play apparently so easily.

Both just dudes purely dedicated to their craft. I love to watch an elite player stumble through his riffs this much. It reminds me that extreme music brings out the most intense and passionate aspects of our human creativity.
Diminished to B . Is the best song on the album and the most challenging. Everyone covers stab wound. Challenge yourself man . That solo is my favorite in deathmetal. It's long and expressive in its tone and phrases.

It's crazy to see how many people forgot that necrophagist is extremely technical and (most) tech death bands now stay with those foundations, aside from those few bands that are creating original sounds.
This kind of stuff is really inspirational. As a guy who has never mastered anything, I often assume people can just fly into these songs like they are nothing. I wonder how the writing process for Archspire is?

As a guitar player with little patience, this is very inspiring to see such a skilled musician struggle to learn a song and keep going. I typically give up after 15 mins and just go through ultimate guitar trying to find different songs, learning little riffs here and there and rarely every sticking with a complete one. Last song I learned was Black Winter Day. The intro took forever to learn, but finally got it. The rest is pretty much just power chords. Tried to learn From Wisdom to Hate and got lost somewhere in the middle. I might revisit that one this weekend after watching your video.
You should try to learn some defeated sanity riffs, it'd be cool to see you try to piece together the intro to hideously disembodied or something like that.

Dean Lamb im 28 and only recently started down the usually incorrect world of online tabs. I used to for the longest time sit in front of a stereo and work out veil of maya Meshuggah after the burial and through the eyes of the dead by ear. Im not saying its better but it is definitely more satisfying not “cheating” but fuck me there were many times i wish i had them though closest id get if i was lucky was a play through from a bandmember or good cover on RUclips. Still not a big fan of computers in general so as cool as i think axfx is idk if ill ever get one because not only do i have to understand the axfx learning curve i have to learn the software on the computer too. I am happy with my high gain tube heads but the convience of axfx is unparalleled

I still do a lot of tweaking with fills and velocities in the daw but if you like writing drums in your daw then you'd probably prefer that

I am fascinated that he wrote Archsipre songs, and yet struggles with Necro, puts some things into context when Epitaph came out
Necrophagist is some of the most catchy, difficult, harmonically interesting and memorable death metal ever written IMO.
I think it is more playing someone else's style is hard for him since he is busy with his own style and practices.

The triplet part in mm. 4 is tapped. The 0-5-9-5-9 is all hammer on/pull offs. The 12 is tapped and pulled off into the 11-8 which is also a pull off.
Ah yeah, I felt better about not having to bring my right hand over to tap it, but I guess I can do the more accurate way next video lol.
Yea it’s definitely a hard part to tap, especially at 240 BPM!
