Die offizielle Amtssprache in Montreal ist französisch. Montreal hat ein vielfältiges kulturelles Angebot an Sehenswürdigkeiten wie zum Beispiel:
La Ronde, ist der zweitgrößte Vergnügungspark von Kanada und hat eine Größe von 591.000 Quadratmetern. Er wurde 1967 anlässlich der Weltausstellung Expo eröffnet.
Das Olympiastadion in Montreal, oder auch als „The Big O“ bekannt wurde 1976 anlässlich der Olympischen Sommerspiele eröffnet. Besonders Merkmal des Stadions ist der geneigte Turm mit einer Höhe von 175 Metern.
Notre-Dame de Montréal, ist eine römisch-katholische Basilika in der Altstadt an der Rue Notre-Dame. Sie wurde nach einer fünfjährigen Bauzeit 1829 fertiggestellt.
Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, ist das ältestes Kunstmuseum von Kanada und wurde 1860 gegründet. Das Museum zählt jährlich eine halbe Million Besucher und hat eine Fläche von über 53.000 Quadratmetern.
Botanische Garten Montreal, er wurde 1931 gegründet und ist mit knapp 750.000 Quadratmetern der zweitgrößte botanische Garten der Welt. Man kann dort über 22.000 Pflanzenarten und 30 Themengärten bestaunen.
