    I was a child in Merseyside during these murders, within 40 miles of Manchester. To this day I cannot believe that as 6 and 8 year olds, my brother and I were allowed to roam at will. In defence of my parents, no-one was aware what was happening such a short distance away. I hope that we had the street smarts to have run away had we been propositioned by the pair, but they were very persuasive by all accounts. There but for the grace of god go my brother and I. Our next door neighbour was a member of the jury for the trial, in Chester I believe. He would never talk about it other than to say all of the women who were initially selected for jury duty were excused because the judge believed it would be too traumatic for them to listen to the tapes of Lesley Ann Downey being tortured. If you ever wonder if true evil exists in the world, then this case proves it. Taking pleasure in other people's pain, to whatever degree is simply that - evil. I don't buy Hindley's repentance and conversion to Christianity in later years. I hope god can forgive her because I can't.

      Parents oughta be ashame. Letting their kids outside along. My momma didn't do that. 5 of us. I'm the baby. I'm 60 yrs old. These parents now let their boyfriend/girlfriend do what they want with kids.

    David Smith was a hero. He did what he had to do to get away, then went straight to the police. He saved lives by doing the right thing. He wouldn't leave his wife alone showing how frightening it was to them and they didn't know about the other murders.

      Enough to send them where they deserved. I am especially happy with the fact that he was sent to a mental institution, where he couldn't kill himself. I find it very ironic in a sense. Some murderers feign to be mentally ill to be sent to a psychiatric institution, but he didn't because there he could not boast of what he did, or manipulate others, and when he couldn't get the attention and "respect" from fellow jailbirds this shitty narcissistic craved for, he decided to hunger strike. And he was stopped, because of his status as a mental patient, making longer his suffering for not getting what he wanted. They truly were a disgrace to humankind and had the punishment they truly deserved.

    The actress who plays Myra is too beautiful. Anyone knows her name by the way?

  • @-Reagan
    @-Reagan Год назад +9

    There’s more to it than that. Brady was most likely abused sexually either by the foster father or men who were with his mother. Hindley was also abused by her father. It’s not the only factor and certainly wouldn’t excuse anything, but it does bear a lot of weight in the lack of empathy, sadism, sexual perversion, along with compliance and participation of Hindley. Also their feelings of inferiority and jealousy of children who seemed to have loving homes, and resentment towards their families, such as particular disdain of Ann West, mother of Ann Marie Downy. Brady was also known to physically and sexually abuse Hindley.

    • @JustMe-mh2pn
      @JustMe-mh2pn Год назад +10

      That is not correct, neither Hindley nor Brady were sexually abused. Hindley had a father who drank and beat his wife, but there was no sexual abuse.

    • @-Reagan
      @-Reagan Год назад

      @@JustMe-mh2pn I did not say Hindley was sexually abused. I wouldn’t know that and neither would you. The abuse by her father most definitely bore a role in this. She described a scene where Brady was very abusive and violent with her early in their relationship, she was already groomed to it by her father. Her grandmother removed her from the house for a reason. The whole family suffered. As for Brady, it’s highly likely that he was sexually abused and known to have been physically abused. I guess you might believe they were just born evil? Male sexual predators, particularly pedophiles are groomed, not born.

    If you want to see a movie based on a couple who did bad stuff", try seeing Badlands, Bonnie, Clyde, etc. Yes, these two were very upsetting because they killed children, but they didn't invent the "we are a couple, and it would be fun to go around killing kids" routine. As for women harming children, there are a lot of females who are child molesters, and having an attitude of Women don't do such things is what allows them to get away with it. Sadly, this sort of thing can and is done by any type of person to any type of person. I wish it wasn't so, but it is.
