Couple things most ppl don’t realize about Velus’ development is that he was in the top 5-10 of the League for Kick Return yards average (27.2) last season, and he had ZERO muffed kicks or punts (NO FUMBLES)…
That’s growth from that disastrous 2022 rookie campaign of his… 😂

If the bears keep 6 wrs then scott Carter and velus will be wrs 4 5 and 6 because velus can be kick returner while pettis would just be for depth. Kid gets hate but he's a good kick returner and this year is big for that!

I feel like a lot Bears fans are still way too hung up on Velus’ rookie season. Put the 2 games that he lost the game aside, and look at where he was last season, he was good. With the new kickoff rules you wanna have two good returners. People are holding onto his two major drops in his rookie year against him too hard.

Velus should be KR and try to utilize him as the Swiss Army knife. Get him in the back field on some trick gadget plays on reverses or jet sweeps. Dante and DeAndre will fight for that PR spot. Carter is 5’8 so his size is limited but he has fast twitch burst. Pettis runs the best routes but can’t really catch but good speed. Velus is good at getting to the edge and to the sidelines. Extreme speed though. Should be an interesting competition in training camp
