    I like how the video looks completely perfect. What monster of a camera is the videographer using? In this video, the photo camera's flash is being used like a shadow filler, and I think that's a good way to use head-on flash, but using head-on flash at a distance in the dark can sometimes work too because distance will naturally diffuse the light.

    Why would you choose 400 iso, then put it on auto iso?

    • @yuizen
      @yuizen 7 месяцев назад

      I know this is a bit late but, there’s a settings where you can min max your iso. Maybe he is telling us he set his maximum iso to 400 so when in auto iso maximum it will dial the iso is only 400 and minimum is whatever he set it. So depending on his aperture and shutter speed camera will compensate between example 100-400 ISO for exposure.

    nice channel, Andrew has clever tips.
    but in this case, I don't understand why he does not simply set the TTL to -1 instead of tricking the exposure to +1.
    If you have high contrast backgrounds and spotlights (immagine having the sun behind the subject), his method won't work properly...

    • @Lucy-dk5cz
      @Lucy-dk5cz Год назад

      Because he is an idiot. I seriously feel bad for those that he scams into buying his content

    • @zeissiez
      @zeissiez Год назад

      Another way is to meter the background for proper exposure, which means negative exposure when there’s bright light, then use negative flash exposure compensation on the flash.

    • @BeyondPhotography
      @BeyondPhotography  Год назад +1

      @mazar4225 - hiiiii. Andrew here. the reason i went with a slightly more positive exposure on the camera is simple: this will brighten the background. Tuning the flash to -1 will only reduce the brightness of the flash and will not brighten the background. and truly, thanks for leaving us a comment. Love and thanks, Andrew

    I get similarly good locking results in such outdoor situations when I use the camera and the speedlight in TTL mode and experiment with either the "+/-" correction for the camera exposure or for the flash output and because I meanwhile have a lot of experience, I don't have to experiment for long and it's all done very quickly ... and of course I know and use your way to handle it either ... I decide all this spontaneously depending on the situation and my own whim.

      Hi @MrJueka.... i think i know what you mean. That is the fun part about knowing something thru experience. You are doing it right. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Love, Andrew

    Whenever there is good even light in indoor I always use direct TTL flash. Nikon's matrix TTL metering system is awesome. It gives excellent result in a very busy and fast action packed events.

      I find that it can only be good with the higher end more expensive models. The cheaper ones, i sometimes feel they purposely dumb it down and it can get pretty inaccurate. - Andrew

    thank you for your wonderful tutorial. I didn't know you can use the flash like that. Question related to the same topic. How about venues with very high ceilings, and place is a bit dark? Like a fancy restaurant, indoor, can we use this Setup as well?
    I am used to bouncing the light at the ceiling or using a bounce card. Thank you!

    Thanks for the tip! Any difference in dialing down the flash output instead of over exposing? Love to read your thoughts on that.

    can the same method be used indoor in a large hall for example where the roof and walls are further away?
