I have faith on this game because both Tetsuya Nomura and Yoko Shimomura are working on this game. They've made Kingdom Hearts so epic even at its 7th installments. I'm sure they'll nailed it in this one also!

Kingdom Hearts has gotten so convoluted and the story is all over the place now. The two main games should have been left on their own (2nd Game was stupidly over-confusing on its own), rather than tieing in all the handehld game sand introducing loads of cheesy charatcers. If I've forgotten any systems, I apologise, there's just too many KH games for me to follow. Don't get me wrong, I love KH series, it's just all over the place with the story. I feel as if Nomura doesn't think ahead to the next game at all. It just feels as if he wrote the story as he went along. First we had the heartless, then the nobodies, then the unversed and then there's the dream eaters. Now he's just making up new enemies for the sake of it. AT least from what I've seen and Nomura's track record, the game mechanics will be awesome. I feel (hope) that this game can bring the franchise back. The gameplay looks great, the story seems interesting so far and the visuals are breathtaking. I'm hopeful yet sceptical

It's not turn-based anymore, because turn-based games cannot be revolutionary, since they always have assigned gameplay mechanics, which they have to hold no matter what - which basically is being turn-based... 2. Yes, it will be a very good game, no matter what you can think there, it'll have great scores on majority of sites. It was being developed for almost a decade by Tetsuya Nomura, guy who could develop new KH games in 2 years, while keeping them revolutionary and awesome. 3. There will be no playable female characters, so what? Why do you feel bad about it? There was already a FF game that had females-only and no1 was crying! Don't be a freaking hypocrites.
Scores mean jack and/or shit these days, but that's besides the point. The game does look great. Also, I cried when both games that were female-only were released, because they were god awful.

Okay.. both the English and Japanese versions have very good voice actors but I just prefer the Japanese version. I like the translation better and the expressions, words used, emotion of the actors. The Japanese version portrays the mood better. If I were to play this I would like the Japanese dub with English subs. :) And I like reading, it stirs up more the imagination and it reminds me of older Final Fantasies.. rather than like watching a movie.
Monado Boy I'm in my 20s I was playing Final Fantasy back when I was in 3rd grade. Around when FF6 came out and called itself FF3 in America. FF8 and Tactics where the last games I enjoyed from FF. Well I enjoyed Lost Odyssey which is just like a FF game.

The main theme for 15 is also called Somnus...which means "Sleep"...so I can imagine there is some theme going on we're not aware of yet. Also the guys are always sleeping in the car lol, kinda funny.

All I want is a female character in the party... Preferably 3 as per tradition. Every final fantasy has a goddess or two . FFX has 3,FF2 had 1,FF6 has 3,FF7 has 3,etc. I don't think 1 female party member is too much to ask.

I really don't see the problem with this. I honestly think it's a quite a bold and interesting move by SE. I'd much rather have an all male cast than having to bear with annoying females that I can't stand. Most of the male cast in this seem alright to me.
This looks so absolutely fantastic. This game gives me a very special kind of enthusiasm, a kind of enthusiasm that only a very specials selection of games give me. That's why i hope, and i really hope. That one day, a PC version will be upon us, but for now, i wish all the console gamers an amazing time with this fantastic looking game!

DaGleese Actually, they just wanted to acronym to be FF because it sounded cool (Efu Efu). One possible name was Fighting Fantasy, but since that was already taken, they settled for Final Fantasy. Nothing about "Final" shots or anything, just people wanting something to sound cool.
After playing this game, I can honestly say that every piece of it has taken me back through time in my adventures of previous Final Fantasy games. I greatly appreciate that, it's honestly inspiring to have a game remind you of those experiences. It's even the first Final Fantasy game to scare the crap out of me jump scare wise. Lol. 😂😂 "Chapter 13" It's nice to know SE is trying to implement the horror aspect into FF. The one thing I will say, "Man if they ever do a FF 10-3, or a FF 12-2, they're going to be literally stunning with the current graphic level of FF 15. I've never played FF 7, but I've seen Midgar, and hope that the remake's graphics serve it wonders. It's also something that I wish FF 13 had, but hey, can't get everything I suppose." I'm a fan of Final Fantasy since I was a kid and I've been waiting for this game since I was 8 years old. I finally got circumcised, I finished my first communion in Church, I'm about to graduate high school and its still not out.
Honestly. I feel like I'm the only female happy about the fact that there is NO FEMALE in the game. Like, what is so bad about a single game with only guys? I'm just surprised anyone is complaining. Seriously. The most I would think anyone would complain about would be the graphics or storyline. But about there not being a female character? What has the world become? I don't recall any guy complaining about female teams back in the day. And frankly, I've already gotten my dose of the female protagonist from XIII. Having an all male cast seems like a dream come true. I'm not trying to bash or anything, but if you dislike that there isn't a female character, then just leave this and go play a game with a female character. I don't get why anyone feels justified to complain about the fact that there isn't a certain thing you don't want from a game. Not everything is going to be absolutely perfect to your standards. Besides, if you don't like it you can just ignore it. Might as well just wait for the next FF installment or something and play something that you like. If you obviously don't like it, then don't play it. What's so hard about just leaving? *As for the people who are actually happy about the game, from what I heard it's basically being released in 2016. If you're counting December 31st as next year (which you should, I don't see why not). Along with the next Kingdom Hearts game on the 31st. I had checked before preordering on Amazon, but I'm not quite sure if it's official. And for the open world play, I heard that it's only for the demo (which I have). It's supposed to be only for "Episode Duscae" which is what the demo is called. It seems to be a small detour to the actual destination the the game (mind you this took me a whole 3 hours to explore every nook and cranny). But other than that, I think that most of the game will be in the city/country/kingdom (or whatever you want to call it). ~Just some personal thoughts: Am I the only person who always hopes for no romance? Because trying to find a movie or game with no romance is fucking hard. Like, I'm kinda fine with it if it's a side thing. Square needs work on its gameplay. They should remove the feature of Noctis dying meaning the whole battle is lost. It ruins the significance of the other playable character. A battle should not revolve around one person.

Almost every RPG I've come across, there's someone complaining about the voice acting, never being content that the game is even coming out at all, and especially if the voice acting is good like Tales of Vesperia's (Note: I played both the PS3 and 360 versions) didn't bother me, and still won't if something's in English or Japanese. UNLESS, it has horrible voice acting like Arc Rise Fantasia. (Good game, but the actors sounded like they didn't want to voice act, Lol...) regardless now that, that rant is over with. This is looking cool.

I love how people who don't know Japanese continue to say that Japanese voice acting is better than English, when obviously it will feel that way to you because, arguably, everyone loves the sound of a foreign language and can't tell the difference between good and bad acting if you don't understand the language.

i hope so, too. the original dub is almost always better than a different one mostly because it goes with their built in mannerisms, facial expressions and untranslatable idioms. it's hard to emulate the same emotions in a different language. i hate when people call us "weaboos" or whatever just because we want the original dub. we're really just asking for the most natural content.
Craig Justin except there isn't an original dub. Both dubs are well underway and the game isn't even out. The games usually do lip synching to the English actors too, so you will be seeing the facial expressions and unless you speak Japanese the idioms are still going to be lost. If you prefer Japanese, just call it how it is. It's no big deal. But these aren't actors they just pulled off the street with a script they threw together, I'm sure allot of time and effort went into preserving the intention of both.
Are the protagonists part of a boyband or something? I don't mind if they look handsome, cute or attractive, but couldn't they have been given more distinguishable outfits? I don't see why having an all male playable characters is a bad thing. Final Fantasy has always both male and female playable characters in their other games, not to mention x-2 was an all female main cast. Why should they shy away from one game being an all male cast?

All Final Fantasies have different main characters and are set in different worlds unless they are stated as direct sequels (e.g: FFX and FFX-2, FFXIII, FFXIII-2 and FFXIII:LR). This is a totally different game with different characters and story. So to answer your question, no, you do not need to play any other Final Fantasies to understand this game.
+Usama Javaid it is true that you don't have to play any other Final Fantasy games to understand FFXV. But it is highly suggested for any player to at least try classic Final Fantasy games. It's going to be a little hard to play old games, but trust me, Final Fantasy games are more than just a game. They have unique stories, characters, and soundtracks. After you play the classics, you'll then know whether Final Fantasy XV is GOOD ENOUGH to be a FINAL FANTASY or... well, you have your own score... ;D
+Usama Javaid As others have said, no. But you will recognize themes from other games. Most have an evil empire that needs to be toppled or a lunatic gone power hungry that needs to be killed. My personal favorite is X, though VII and XII are really good games as well. XIII was good in its own way but it's not what many western final fantasy fans wanted. VI and VI are also good ones to start with. I've heard IX is great but I haven't had the chance to play it yet. Almost all of the classics are available on iOS now if you have an iPhone or iPad :) Pick one and hop to it! You should be done by the time this game is released.

Ducky Quackington Haven't played XI, but XIII is an ATB game with different mechanics to the usual. Its not 'live combat' whatever that means. If you mean their action rpgs, and not menu driven, then the only games are either spin offs or Lightning Returns. And even then, outside the block button, Lightning Returns is basically if you attached menu commands to quick keys, not really a few action RPGs.

Teddie Osorio Persona's battles and dungeons are easily the weakest part of the game (3 & 4, at least).

Okay.. both the English and Japanese versions have very good voice actors but I just prefer the Japanese version. I like the translation better and the expressions, words used, emotion of the actors. The Japanese version portrays the mood better. If I were to play this I would like the Japanese dub with English subs. :)
And I like reading, it stirs up more the imagination and it reminds me of older Final Fantasies.. rather than like watching a movie.
The music is also sooo beautiful!! And I like the idea that they're traveling in a car.. it stirs up nostalgia and is very sentimental.

After playing this game, I can honestly say that every piece of it has taken me back through time in my adventures of previous Final Fantasy games. I greatly appreciate that, it's honestly inspiring to have a game remind you of those experiences. It's even the first Final Fantasy game to scare the crap out of me jump scare wise. Lol. 😂😂 "Chapter 13" It's nice to know SE is trying to implement the horror aspect into FF.
The one thing I will say, "Man if they ever do a FF 10-3, or a FF 12-2, they're going to be literally stunning with the current graphic level of FF 15. I've never played FF 7, but I've seen Midgar, and hope that the remake's graphics serve it wonders. It's also something that I wish FF 13 had, but hey, can't get everything I suppose." Hahaha.

Honestly. I feel like I'm the only female happy about the fact that there is NO FEMALE in the game. Like, what is so bad about a single game with only guys? I'm just surprised anyone is complaining. Seriously. The most I would think anyone would complain about would be the graphics or storyline. But about there not being a female character? What has the world become? I don't recall any guy complaining about female teams back in the day. And frankly, I've already gotten my dose of the female protagonist from XIII. Having an all male cast seems like a dream come true. I'm not trying to bash or anything, but if you dislike that there isn't a female character, then just leave this and go play a game with a female character. I don't get why anyone feels justified to complain about the fact that there isn't a certain thing you don't want from a game. Not everything is going to be absolutely perfect to your standards. Besides, if you don't like it you can just ignore it. Might as well just wait for the next FF installment or something and play something that you like. If you obviously don't like it, then don't play it. What's so hard about just leaving?
*As for the people who are actually happy about the game, from what I heard it's basically being released in 2016. If you're counting December 31st as next year (which you should, I don't see why not). Along with the next Kingdom Hearts game on the 31st. I had checked before preordering on Amazon, but I'm not quite sure if it's official. And for the open world play, I heard that it's only for the demo (which I have). It's supposed to be only for "Episode Duscae" which is what the demo is called. It seems to be a small detour to the actual destination the the game (mind you this took me a whole 3 hours to explore every nook and cranny). But other than that, I think that most of the game will be in the city/country/kingdom (or whatever you want to call it).
~Just some personal thoughts: Am I the only person who always hopes for no romance? Because trying to find a movie or game with no romance is fucking hard. Like, I'm kinda fine with it if it's a side thing. And not the whole point of the story (I sincerely struggle to play games that center around romance). But just action is all I wish for. Just wanting to know what everyone else thinks.

Square needs work on its gameplay. They should remove the feature of Noctis dying meaning the whole battle is lost. It ruins the significance of the other playable character. A battle should not revolve around one person.

How awesome. Except for the obvious. People going to start complaining about English vs Japanese, and blah blah BLAH! Like give it a bloody rest already. Almost every RPG I've come across, there's someone complaining about the voice acting, never being content that the game is even coming out at all, and especially if the voice acting is good like Tales of Vesperia's (Note: I played both the PS3 and 360 versions) didn't bother me, and still won't if something's in English or Japanese. UNLESS, it has horrible voice acting like Arc Rise Fantasia. (Good game, but the actors sounded like they didn't want to voice act, Lol...) regardless now that, that rant is over with. This is looking cool.

I love how people who don't know Japanese continue to say that Japanese voice acting is better than English, when obviously it will feel that way to you because, arguably, everyone loves the sound of a foreign language and can't tell the difference between good and bad acting if you don't understand the language.

i hope so, too. the original dub is almost always better than a different one mostly because it goes with their built in mannerisms, facial expressions and untranslatable idioms. it's hard to emulate the same emotions in a different language. i hate when people call us "weaboos" or whatever just because we want the original dub. we're really just asking for the most natural content.
Craig Justin except there isn't an original dub. Both dubs are well underway and the game isn't even out. The games usually do lip synching to the English actors too, so you will be seeing the facial expressions and unless you speak Japanese the idioms are still going to be lost. If you prefer Japanese, just call it how it is. It's no big deal. But these aren't actors they just pulled off the street with a script they threw together, I'm sure allot of time and effort went into preserving the intention of both.

Derek Martinez I remember them announcing it back when 10 came out like 15 years ago, For as long as it has been development let's hope it was a game worth waiting for. I feel like 12 and 13 (not counting online games) were a bit lackluster

do I have to play other final fantasy's to play this. are characters new for the game?
All Final Fantasies have different main characters and are set in different worlds unless they are stated as direct sequels (e.g: FFX and FFX-2, FFXIII, FFXIII-2 and FFXIII:LR). This is a totally different game with different characters and story. So to answer your question, no, you do not need to play any other Final Fantasies to understand this game.

+Usama Javaid it is true that you don't have to play any other Final Fantasy games to understand FFXV. But it is highly suggested for any player to at least try classic Final Fantasy games. It's going to be a little hard to play old games, but trust me, Final Fantasy games are more than just a game. They have unique stories, characters, and soundtracks. After you play the classics, you'll then know whether Final Fantasy XV is GOOD ENOUGH to be a FINAL FANTASY or... well, you have your own score... ;D

+Usama Javaid As others have said, no. But you will recognize themes from other games. Most have an evil empire that needs to be toppled or a lunatic gone power hungry that needs to be killed. My personal favorite is X, though VII and XII are really good games as well. XIII was good in its own way but it's not what many western final fantasy fans wanted. VI and VI are also good ones to start with. I've heard IX is great but I haven't had the chance to play it yet. Almost all of the classics are available on iOS now if you have an iPhone or iPad :) Pick one and hop to it! You should be done by the time this game is released.

Some would say "Why can't they just look normal, why do they have to look like freaking boy band 1direction". Well. What if what Noctis and gang wears are what is deemed "normal" in that universe.

I'm so ready for this game! Story seems like it's going to be great. Combat has a lot of potential. Then lastly the main group of characters are really cool from what I have seen in the Episode Duscae demo.
So full of lies... This game had this much of the towns and battles ready, what the hell did they do for additional 2 years?! The second half is a mess. I'm still pissed....
Check out "Fantasy based on misleading trailers" and Final Fantasy Peasant's video on the cut contents. I'm mad how much was cut and the end was rushed but overall I enjoyed the game a lot. The ending sucks... :(
I'm failing to see why wanting a female character is bad? Why are you guys so uncomfortable with yourselves? Lol it's quite pathetic honestly if you feel your manhood is in danger because you play as a female character you have some deep rooted issues. It boils down to the fact that you think women are inferior and it points out your misogynist way of thinking. Anyway even though I personally would have liked a female playable character I am still HYPED af for this game all the characters look badass.

I think it looks fantastic. I've waited a long time to get the chance to play this game, and I'm glad that I'll be getting a demo with my Type-0!

FF is more focused on story then gameplay. If you think about it which is way better? The story line or the gameplay
+Epik Ent Its more that Square never really started giving any effort for the gameplay until FF X onwards, and each game has massively improved tactical or player skill over simple "I'm higher level then you" crap that is all pre-10 really was.

There has been a lot of live combat FF games, XI and XIII were live combat
Ducky Quackington Haven't played XI, but XIII is an ATB game with different mechanics to the usual. Its not 'live combat' whatever that means. If you mean their action rpgs, and not menu driven, then the only games are either spin offs or Lightning Returns.
And even then, outside the block button, Lightning Returns is basically if you attached menu commands to quick keys, not really a few action RPGs.
