When the video started and I saw gloves, I knew I was at the right place. Not only your video helped me fix my wife’s AirPods, I even fixed my old AirPods gen 1 I had in a drawer for years. That is a lot of money saved in just 5 minutes. People like you give me hope. Thank you for helping us navigate in today’s capitalist ocean! 😅
Hey man, I’ve been through countless amounts of other videos, reddit posts, apple support community stuff and even contacted Apple through the support app. Nothing helped whatsoever. I noticed that the microphone was slightly white, but I thought that was just discolouration from over time. For the hell of it I scraped both AirPods with a toothpick and well well well a fat chunk of glue came out. I manually reset AirPods, restarted phone and man am I so relieved! I was 🤏🏽 close to buying a new set again. I nearly gave up and you’ve fixed my AirPods mic delay. First This is my first ever comment to a video so I hope it goes for something. Anyone else having mic problems, this video really will 100% solve your problem.
Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad that it's fixed the issue, that's what this video and channel are all about, helping people. Hopefully we can get to 1k subs soon and do even more videos to help more people.
The mic hole might be blocked. Get a fine pin or needle and gently pierce the centre of the orange dot, don’t insert too far or you will damage the small diaphragm at the other end of the tiny hole.
Do not do this! I’m pretty sure I just ruined my left AirPod by messing around in the mic hole with a pin. I didn’t insert it very far but something like lint looked like it was coming out. My left one is hot like something is messed up internally. There is no sound and it won’t come on now! Don’t try this!!! (I did the glue extraction a few months ago and it worked for awhile. I really believe Apple knows these have microphone issues and just swept it under a rug.) 😢😢😢 before I tried this, I had a listening pair of AirPods. Now, I have nothing 😢
dood thanks! I didnt notice how much wax and most likely that glue was all up in there! it looked clean till I used my macro lens and saw all that build up! going to clean them up tonight. Thanks for the upload, I appreciate it sooooo much! I was going crazy because they would work sooomeetimes, almost bought a new pair. thank you thank you thank you
Glad it helped, so many people buy new AirPods yet it's such a easy fix, it's less likely to be earwax and more likely to be the glue which re activates over time through charging cycle , hopefully they work out!
Does it matter that you no longer have the wire meshing? Obviously better to have them working without but wondering if there is anything i should do differently with no meshing.
I would like to thank you very much. I bought a used headphone, but the mic does not work. I cleaned this area, and thank God, the headphone worked 100%, but I have a question: How did the earwax get to this area?
Hi thanks for your comment, glad it helped, it's not earwax, but the glue used to hold the wire mesh that hardens and becomes wet covering the microphone, no ear wax.
Just gave this a shot, unfortunately, didn't work for me. Tried unpairing and repairing and hard reset, also didn't work. I can hear myself barely on voice memo - any other fix?
Guys this really worked for me. My Man , You are a lifesaver , i was going to get a new one tomorrow itself but by God’s Grace i don’t know how youtube recommended me this video and i tried your solution , yes there was a lot of debris and dust accumulated in the wired mesh , although it always looked clean , their was alot of glue ! I removed it as you instructed in your video and My Airpods is working as brand new again , Thanks alot dudeeeeee. This video will help alot of people , trust me.
I tried this and the glue came out just like on the video, but now my mic doesn’t work at all. Siri can’t hear me and neither AirPod is working on calls (before it was muffled and cut out but they could still hear me a bit, and Siri was responsive). Is it worth trying some kind of solvent in case there’s more glue inside? I can’t see anything in the hole with my magnifier but at this point I have to replace them either way 🙄😔
Make sure you've removed all the glue you should see a hole for the mic once all the glue is removed, you need to be careful that you don't push glue into the mic hole, or that the object you are using goes into the hole. You could use IPA but I don't recommend putting any liquids in microphones. Try heating up the glue in the airpods with a hairdryer on low setting for less than a minute and remove any glue, re- pair with your phone agian and see if that works.
So, I'm guessing that Apple isn't doing anything about their crap products' issue? Mine started out garbled and then went to nothing. My issue is that I don't have an Apple closer than hours away and don't have a microscope in order to clean this. I had to zoom in on my phone camera, take a pic, and then zoom in on the pic in order to see that this has happened to mine. How am I to clean this? And does the metal mesh screen always come off when cleaning them?
If they are in warranty (1year) and a part has failed apple will replace them, however this problem usually happens after warranty, and as no part has failed apple will not always replace in warranty. In order to clean them all you need is a toothpic or needle, and gently remove the glue skin layer, unfortunately the wire mesh sits in top of this hardened glue layer in a wet glue layer so yes the wire mesh does come off. Just follow the process in the video.
Have another look , mine had two layers of glue, a wet layer and then a solid layer blocking the microphone almost like skin it can be difficult to see, but after you remove it you should clearly be able to see the microphone hole, remember do not poke anything into the hole, some times you may have to re set and re pair, the airpods to your phone, and sometimes it's a hardware issue.
Try re pairing them to your phone, and are you sure your mic works or does the phone just use the microphone on the phone hence why when you make calls it doesn't work?

Microphone still not working after removing the glue, is there any other way around?

I don't comment often but this is the real deal. Guys it works. Forget all the other 10 fixes to try videos.
Does it matter that you no longer have the wire meshing? Obviously better to have them working without but wondering if there is anything i should do differently with no meshing.
Doesn't make a difference mine are still going strong obviously always keep them in the case to protect them when not in use
Aye no cap u earned a like nd sub, u the first person who shxt really works, he not lying yall try it

This is the exact problem I had, thanks!
THIS HELPED😭
Apple should pay you for this. You fixed their huge problem. I just pried with a pin and that glue seal came off. THANKS!
holly sh... it actually worked, such a simple fix! Apple may just have engineered this to happen after the warranty expires
Thank you for this video brother!
Hi, I removed the glue from my Airpods 2nd Gen but the microphone still not working, any other way around?
Try re pairing them by un pairing them and double check you have removed all glue
Just working!!! Thanks mate
Big balls man, but I’ll give it to yah hard that shit worked better than anything else I’ve tried! Thank you so much xoxo
You help me to fix mine! Thanks
So real!!! Thanks!!! You saved me of buying new AirPods
Thanks really helped me fix my AirPods, was going to buy new ones.
Just gave this a shot, unfortunately, didn't work for me. Tried unpairing and repairing and hard reset, also didn't work. I can hear myself barely on voice memo - any other fix?
Sounds like a hardware problem only apple can fix this
Hey! How to clean after taking out the dried glue?
Are they working now? If not try re pairing them again if that doesn't work you may have a different issue
Guys this really worked for me.

I removed the mesh and glue residue.
Still not working.
Both sides tested separately.
😢
Please advise.
Did you remove both wet and dry glue residue??
I was completely doubtful and can’t believe I scraped the mess off. BUT, it worked!!!! My AirPods worked in first call!
Best Video, Thank you very much

My AirPods Pro 1gen with microphone low when ai speak. Can you help me?
Unfortunately not as I don't have Airpod pro to be able to understand how to fix them.
Thank you very much!!!

To działa!!! Już miałem nowe kupować, a tu proszę - działa znów mikrofon. Wydrapałem w obu siateczkę z tym klejem.
WORKS!

@@RMEonlineI removed everything. Repaired. Factory reset. Tested the mics separately. Still not working.
Grwat info
Sadly this didn’t fix mine, I was able to take out a piece of glue that looked identical to yours but still no sound when I talk. Thanks anyway!
Try repairing them to your phone
My mic works, just not on calls..tried everything
Try re pairing them to your phone, and are you sure your mic works or does the phone just use the microphone on the phone hence why when you make calls it doesn't work?
