    1.4 is on LP mode and the 1.7 is on HP. thats why it sounds so different.

      George Jetson That's awesome that you got a good laugh. My job is done! As for easing up on the wine... WTF is THAT all about?!?!?!?!? You should be slapped with Astro's bone for that comment GEORGE.

    Sold my 1.4 over a year ago because of the volume issue and missed it greatly. Just bought a new one (1.7) and yes there is no doubt a huge difference. This is definitely my old/new favorite pedal.

      The only volume issues he is having is he has the 1.4 on LP and the 1.7 is on HP. Can’t believe this dude does a whole video on these two pedals and never noticed that?!

    I have the 1.4 its been the staple of my tone for a long time! bought it new and love it!

    "you don't even have to move the knobbies?" just for future reference, all pots (knobs) have a +/- 10% so you usually always have to MOVE THE KNOBBIES TO GET THE SAME SOUND OF ANY PEDAL SAME OR NOT.
    also fulltone ocd's have always switched between pot values for volume, my v3 needs to be on 9oclock to reach my v4 at 3 oclock.. it's just the v4 that has the odd values you will find that when comparing it to any other version.

    it seems just question of attenuation which at our ears appears also atone changes. because the pressure to our ears changes dramatically.
    I think the 1.4 has an issue solved on 1.7.
    And the issue is the attenuation of the signal.
    Thus the 1.7 sounds more round. If i'm in you, I will try to get the same sound level from both, then to make a comparison to appreciate the effective tonal changes, if ever they are thee ;)

    yup. I had put a brand new battery in each prior to doing the video. No power supply

    Wow, how can he not notice that LP/HP switch difference? And still not willing to admit he fkd up the whole demo.....rofl

    If I might add my two cents I have also made an A/B comparison between the 1.4 and the 1.7, honestly did not expect there to be a HUGE difference, shockingly, there WAS! in enormous difference! And it is not merely Volume as most will pick up on in this guy's Video, but TONE. I could live with the 1.4 just being lower in volume but personally I thought the 1.4 sounded (in person) like ass compared to the 1.7, what the hell? What on earth is this guy doing to these pedals from version to version and whatever it is he'd better quit while he is ahead because the 1.7 is the Ballz (and NOT because of volume..but TONE) I am and always have been a Marshall Player, the vintage stuff. Recently finally decided to give my back a break and bought my first small amp, a NOS Blues JR, great Cleans but the overdriven sound was Meh! at best. The OCD V4 1.7 through the JR makes the hair on this Marshall Lovers neck stand up, no joke. You can't pick up from a youtube video what the difference really is. Hopes this helps someone.

    For ages I used Crybaby Wah> MI Audio Boost n Buff V2>OCD 1.4>EQD Disaster Transport Delay>Laney VC30 & Tweed Blues Jnr. Done
    An AC booster *after* the 1.4 worked great for tone shaping and lead/volume boosts.
    I believe 1.4 has two ge diodes whereas the 1.7 has one, could be wrong on that - it's difficult to get accurate info on the various OCDs
    EDIT: umm...the HP and LP switches aren't matched in this demo.

    I don't get why so many pedals have such a huge output level. I like the Volume pot to be usable in its entire sweep. with V 1.7 you only have between off and about 9:00.

    • @SaxJockey
      @SaxJockey 5 лет назад

      The new V2 is similar, the manual says unity gain is around 9 o'clock. The pedal has a gain of 20dB (more in HP mode), if that is voltage gain, it means a factor of more than 10; like having pick ups with 10 times the typical output voltage! It is very sensitive (loud) beyond 9 o'clock; there is zero likelihood that I would intentionally move it fully clockwise 😂.

    PS. thought I should also add that I have also tried both at 18 V
    The 1.7 at 9 volts sounds head and shoulder's better than the 1.4 at 18v so that should tell you something

      Also, Fulltone says all versions after 1.4 are the same pedal as the 1.4, up until the 2.0.

    Do you still have both pedals? Can u do a A/B test using full volume?
    I have a v1.4 and i'm curious if v1.7 will sound better in this way.
    Regards from Brazil!

  • @CNCTEMATIC
    @CNCTEMATIC 7 лет назад +2

    Well others have said it, and you don't seem to get, so I'll try. There is a switch above the LED. You have the v 1.4 pedal set to Low Peak and v 1.7 set to High Peak. High Peak pushes a bigger amplitude signal through and has a different clipping pattern. So the video is worthless as a comparison.

    so, just raise the master volume on the Amp. Its true 1.4 sounds a bit lower, and somewhat smoother.Like the 1.7 better though

  • @HAPMinistries
    @HAPMinistries 11 лет назад +1

    Wow, the 1.7 has way more power. Were you running both on 9v, and have you tried them on 18v?

  • @pcollenyt3683

    I'd take either one. I'd like to know at what volume setting the 1.7 starts to sound like crap given that it sounds great at 25%. It's just a different volume gain structure.

    Hello!
    Excuse my ignorance, but the OCD has not stopped in version 4? or AFTER the four left these versions 1.4, 1.6, 1.7 ... ?? I could not understand it ...
    Help me there,

    Theyyy sound the same you just have to adjust the knobs a little. Whats the big issue? The use different pots on the volume.... You never showed how they sound stacked...

    I had a good laugh. Next time ease up on the wine and put the HP/LP switches in the same position. If your going to copy Gearmanndude, at least get it right.
    There's very little difference between the two. Fulltone OCD new version 1.7

  • @JendrixHimi
    @JendrixHimi 9 лет назад +1

    What does the volume matter as long as its higher than the amp when its switched on?? you buy an OD for tone and crunch not volume , the LP and HP switch on these makes the difference on each singular pedal , that the swapping the 2 pedals as in this video make , the switch in low makes it more open an compressed the switch in high makes it harder and louder , basically what this guy has done with 2 pedals !
