Guy wrote this song for his cousin who he helped get through a tough time where his thoughts were that 'the world would be a better place without him' But Guy was there for him and so this song came from his own personal experience of someone who has mental health issues..."Standing With You" is just a beautiful song. Yes, Guy won the very first season of Aust. Idol way back in 2003, he was only 22. He is now a huge deal here and he is a judge on The Voice Aust. so he often performs on there. Your just talking about Guys voice which is truly amazing and I always recommend live performances, but sometimes with not seeing the video, you're missing the whole meaning of the song. Which is a shame because it's about stopping someone from committing suicide and having those thoughts. Guy is a judge on The Voice. A classic example of these talent shows is Beth Hart, if I remember correctly, she destroyed the opposition, who were very talented but could not match her singing abilities but at the end of the day could not reach the standards of the corrupt music industry. She is the most talented singers around today.
Another one is Arlo Sim who was on The Voice Australia, but lost out to Bella Taylor Smith. The most amazing 18-year-old I’ve ever heard. Check out Somewhere only we know, or his blind audition where he covered a Yebba song. Beth is a real talent, but it’s a cutthroat world out there and it doesn’t matter how talented you are. It all comes down to luck.
