Choir was written by Guy for his friend who took his own life. The next song is written for a family member who was severely depressed. Guy’s songs are deep, beautifully performed.
I love both those songs.

Guy won Australian Idol and is now a judge on The Voice. More recently, Guy’s brother Chris won The Voice.
The are a wonderful Christian family and Guy is not only a fabulous singer but a top bloke. ❤❤❤❤
@@sianprice7210 If you wish to correct someone, make sure you have the right information. Choir was written for his friend and colleague Luke who took his own life. The video shows their two sons standing together at the end. Guy did a news interview about Choir and the how and why it was written. Standing With You was written for a family member who was contemplating suicide. Hopefully that relative is still with us.
@@ShroveyIf you watch the original video of Choir there is a shot of two boys holding sparklers. One is Guy’s son and the other is the son of his friend Luke who took his own life. Guy said he wanted to write something to celebrate Luke.
He's a genuinely lovely guy too. Originating from my suburb in SA, he's a huge advocate for children's mental health, having started the Sebastian Foundation. A true Aussie. I messaged him once just as a congratulations on winning an award and he took the time to reply with a really long personal reply.

Guy was our Kelly Clarkson. He’s remained relevant pretty much since winning Australian Idol in 2003 (not 2004)😉. He’s a very beloved and respected figure these days, as a singer and as a person. Recommend checking more of Guy out, he’s an incredible vocalist. 👍👍

Guy Sebastian is a great bloke. He is a Dad of 2 boys. Has been through a lot. Married his high school sweetheart. This song got me through many suicidal moments.

Fr I went to his concert last year and he sounded amazing
He won the first ever Australian idol in 2003. He also represented Australia at Eurovision and he has sung as a guest on American Idol. Writes all his own stuff and plays about 6 instruments. Brilliant musician!

This always makes me cry because this song he sings had just came out and our son took his own life, the songs about a family member that was going through depression etc it’s about the struggles they go through and thoughts of ending there life and all Guy could was sit and listen to him & just letting him know that he is here with him and not alone.. those dark voices win at times and there’s nothing you can do it’s just heartbreaking you never get over losing someone like that especially when it’s not in there nature at all. Now you need to watch the kids get back at Guy by surprising him with his family at the movies singing another one of his songs. 🧐😞🇦🇺

Guy is 20 years past his win on Australian Idol 2003, many albums past it, several EuroVision Song Contests past it! He’s an advocate for kids, and he has earned his “stripes” in the industry!

The song Choir sadly is a song about one of his friends who commited suiside. it is a real credit to him and I have a lot of respect for a person who is brave enough to write and sing songs that are so personal I love his voice
Guy Sebastian is one of the good guys in Aussie music.
The range and the power in his voice and the sudden pitch changes is just mind blowing. Simply a true singer with the biggest heart.

As well as Guy Sebastian being well liked and loved, you also need to watch a video on Australia’s favourite son, John Farnham. Watch the video of him singing his version of the Beatles song HELP with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He is now about 72 years old and still can sing as well. Within the last 12 months he had an operation for throat cancer so he has been recuperating since and has not been able to perform.
Guy is a great singer, and humanitarian. John Farnham is also a brilliant singer and human being. He has so much time for his audience, band, back up singers. Anything sung LIVE by him shows his connection with everyone. Time well spent watching 'our John'. He is the G.O.A.T (Greatest of all time). So many songs to recommend, all special in their own way.
It's the little Aussie voices singing their little hearts out. 💖
Guy is a national treasure for us here in Australia! Not only does he have the voice from the heavens, he's an incredibly nice guy too. Love seeing these kids getting so excited! lol great video!
You need to check out more Guy Sebastian songs. He is so talented and his voice will amaze you. Another Australian Idol winner is Stan Walker (he was born in New Zealand). It is still my dream to have an official Guy + Stan duet. I live in hope haha!! I know they have sung together, but they need an official collaboration. Anyways, I was so happy you listened to the whole clip and not just the first part. The second song has so much meaning behind it, and I can relate to it a lot.

Stan was very sick a few years ago with genetic stomach cancer. He had to have his stomach removed but I believe he has recovered and started a family. I'm not sure if he is still performing?

Damn, made me cry...... and I'm not even a person of faith but this song can be taken a number of ways.... friends, family etc.... for anyone struggling.... there is support, love and acceptance out here in the world.... don't give up xx

I was in high school when Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll runner up too smash out the final of Australian idol. I believe it was somewhere between 2000 and 2006. Both lads have heaps of hit albums and have done well.

Guy used to live in my hometown, when he was a kid he used to be a friend in my brothers friend group, then he moved away n look where he is now, so proud to see how far hes come. Just a shame he doesnt remember us or at least doesnt admit he does. Im jus glad he went with singing n not afl even tho he had the choice as it suits him so well.❤

The first song was about a friend taking his life and why he called it choir and he to safe a space for them in the choir up there

The second one was about depression and your not alone
Also his wife suffers depression as well He wrote another song for her as well
When we where in lock down couldn't celebrate Anzac day so guy wrote and played a song for everyone to celebrate the day for our digger's while we where in lockdowns
Yeah it's why I love kids and animals
You'll get what you see uncensored haven't been corrupted by society yet
Little Jason will teach you that every day they start to change when associating with other kids
Personalities change so enjoy your little man as long as you can their no small for long
Also look for guy goes to the movies they get him back a typical Aussie thing to do

I have cried to this song when I have felt alone in the world and depressed many times and felt like he was right there with me comforting me when I had noone else. This song is such a gift to all who need it.

I watched a show with Guy who donated music instruments to a school which wasn’t able to replace old ones. So lovely him and his wife.
I was lucky enough to go see Guy Sebastian perform live last year in May at RAC Arena in Perth Western Australia. It was an INCREDIBLE night, and he was an AMAZING performer
Saw Guy in concert last year, one of my fave artists. He sang amazingly even better than recorded.

The video for that song and the words to thst so show and decribe depression perfectly. Its heartbreaking and uplifting all at tge same time
He loves kids. Before he won Idol he was a primary school music teacher, mainly focussing on singing. Also he is Christian and attends church and does choir there. So younger kids really are his favorite. He's released many albums. He's like mid 30s now. He won Idol I think at 23.

Guy was the first winner of Australian Idol back in 2004. He has gone on to be one of our finest voices. And he's a great guy. Don't bother about Kyle and Jackie O, they are awful people.

The fact that he took time with kids made me a bigger fan. He was already incredible, in my opinion - with so many beautiful lyrics and great videos.

He has represented Australia in Eurovision. He play about six instruments, write his our music, has collaborated with the best of the best musician in the world. He can dance rocking it, He’s one numerous awards in his career. He’s song Battlescare featuring Lupe Fiasco Who is from the US Was his break out hit in America you should give that a listen. Battle Scars, which features Lupe Fiasco is another one, along with his Album Armageddon. It’s brilliant! He does so much for Charity. Another fantastic singer from “down under” is John Farnham. Please have a listen to his version of Help Live and many other songs.
Guy is one of the most amazing talented vocalists of our time, and one of the best live singers (no miming with him). A truly down to earth Aussie bloke. He's songs are always meaningful and soulful, and make me proud to be an Aussie.

Its wild to see little kids freaking out about Guy Sebastian because I'm 30 and we would have reacted the same way if he came to our school when I was a kid. He's been one of the most recognisable australian pop stars since 2003, it's sort of surreal that he still has this impact.

I've just seen this reaction and love it. I don't know if anyone mentioned it but there was a return of the kids surprising Guy Sebastian when he was at the cinema with his family. You should react or just watch that as it is quite good.

Why was the song Choir written?
Choir was written to raise awareness about mental health; Liang had depression and took his own life. If Sebastian couldn't get through it, he couldn't get his message across. So before going on stage to sing Choir on The Voice Australia [Sebastian is a judge on the show] he had a stern word with himself.
Guy was the first winner of Australian Idol, it was in 2003. The song was Angels Brought Me Here. You should have a look for a video of it, 2003 was a very different looking Guy. :)
