You don’t need a screw for that pcie bracket. That’s a self locking latch. You just have to close it to retain the video card. Notice how there’s no thread on it when you kept screwing.
I would advise against bending the PCIE power cables and pins like that by forcing the case to shut on top of it. If the cover doesn't close, there is a reason for that - do not force it. The pins and wires could get too hot at that point and catch fire or melt as seen with recent Nvidia cards. There are adapters on Amazon for this use case where space is an issue. For example: EZDIY-FAB GPU VGA PCIe 8 Pin U Turn. Adapters are available for both 6 and 8 pin PCIE power connectors. Plug and play, simple yet effective. This is a "u turn" adapter that will reorientate the PCIE power socket of the gpu to the other side where there is more space for the psu power cable. Btw, there are original 360W and even 500W Dell power supplies from other Optiplex units that work fine and fit perfectly within the 7040 and 7050MT case without needing to modify the case. I upgraded my original 240W Dell PSU (bronze rating) with a Dell 360W PSU (platinum rating). I prefer this approach versus a normal psu + adapter cable - - - especially after seeing how your new psu exhaust is being covered up by the case for the most part.
I agree, but I want to show something different. That you can install a powerful GPU, an aftermarket PSU, aftermarket cpu fan, not Dell or HP or something else. And about uturn cables yes you can find something better than the one that I used. Thank you for seeing this update.
I got a 7050 myself which I modded. Your upgrades where nice, But if I may I would like to add a few comment’s / ideas. The psu exhaust is blocked for a big part, cut the back out for better flow out the grill and drill some holes in the bottom of the case as intake. For the gpu there are angle plugs that sit snug on the gpu, messing with cables the way you did is not something you should do. A small 80/92 mm fan extra on the front and top can help temps a lot, myself I cut a hole and some inserts for a grill at the top for a extra exhaust. And placed 2 front 92 mm fans for intake gpu and cpu. Just some ideas for this case. 👋
u should of mounted the PSU upside down and cut a hole in the bottom of the case so the Graphics card and psu isnt just blowing hot air into eachother.
I've heard the PCIe 3 16x slot on the Optiplex only supplies 35w of power instead of the customary 75w. I don't know much about GPUs - if a card has connectors on if for power (like those in your video), does it draw from the PCIe slot at all?
More, more difficult, because Dell dont let you do it as simple, have to make direct connections at the motherboard for intrusion sensors that are attached to the case, it is more easier in this way, with the proper connectors.
What is the max temperature the gpu gets? And maybe try to add fans on the bottom right. That would be cool. Just subscribed nice video and very informational.
arent the PCIE cable 6+2 pins? was the extension cable and cutting them really necessary? the cable for the 4pin went throught the mobo and cpu cooler, cant it just went around the edge of the mobo similar to the previous cable since its long enough?
Do you need to remove the motherboard from the case in order to install the cooler ? Also did you need any adapters for the fan connector or some sort of a mounting kit ?
I think he removed the motherboard because he had to drill for the power supply to fit and I guess he doesn't want any metal particles settling on the motherboard
I'll bet it doesn't work. I tried similar upgrade on Optiplex 7050 using Corsair sf600 psu and gtx 1060 3gb. Even with secure boot disabled my system won't boot with the 6pin graphics card plugged in.
@@largejoe2195 hai bro wanted to ask ur opinion, i have a dell optiplex 7040 SFF i5 6th gen 8gb ddr4 ram 250gb ssd and 1tb hdd. what should i upgrade? i thought of a new PSU, a mid gpu and another 8gb ram + a new fan cooler. can u recommend me some stuff
@@euzairhatta cant do psu upgrade too easy with the sff case, if you want get a new case. a new psu. and a 24pin to dell 8 pin power adaptor. then get a new cooler for your cpu. However if you don't wanna do that just get a new gpu and another stick of ram. i recommend the gtx 1650 low profile for your gpu. and just buy matching ram off amazon to what you already have.
kool project but not worth the cost i fine the PSU cost like $170 alone the pc also is like 150- $200 bux and other parts expensive upgrade lolz this would end up being about 500-600 bux
@@PcLaptopUpgrades :) yeah maby ur right if u cound find good deal on use psu and other parts then it wont cost that much :D and would be a nice 6th gen Cpu inside this pc :D
Not everything is about the cost. If it's worth it to you to do the upgrades then it's worth it. The pc I'm building at the minute is one of these, by the time I've done the upgrades it will only be worth about half what I've paid if I were to sell it. But I'm not going to sell it, I'm going to use it and get my money's worth out of it that way. And most of the parts will be reusable in another system further down the road. It's not all about monetary value. It's about what you get back out of it.
Maybe there will be someone else who can built it better than me. I don't care. But let's start from your proposals building it better. Don't just say it is wrong in so many ways.
@PcLaptopUpgrades I don't think they were saying you have done anything wrong and criticising you, I may be wrong but I think they were complimenting you, meaning that they can't believe how much stuff you have fitted in to such a small machine. The meaning of "wrong in so many ways" in reference to your machine basically means that all this stuff shouldn't go together and fit, but it does. Like I say, I could be wrong about their comment, but I think that's what they were trying to convey. Or they may have just thought it was shit but I don't think that is what they meant. I'm building a similar project to this and I am putting a 1660 super in mine. Can I ask, Is it worth putting the 2400mhz ram in to the system if it can only run at the speed of the original memory (2133mhz)

look yes u don't need to screw the bracket but the self locking mechanism isn't that much tighter than the screw locking mechanism

What is a good brand for angle plugs?

Awesome video. Nice upgrades. I liked the music, too. ❤
That power supply is surely going to have a quick death without being able to vent.
10 years working with a same style bro xD
how did you get the power supply to fit flush
You would want a super thin layer of heat paste for better contact, heat tranfer.
That’s got to be a hot box with that 1080ti I suggest installing front fans for intake
Also the gpu will be bottlenecked like hell.

The GPU that needs more power to work, draws it all from the PSU. It only uses the PCIE slot for connection.
@@PcLaptopUpgrades Thanks for that info. This was a helpful video!

Good evening. 6+2 pins or 8 pins can be used in PCIE. Yes the cut was necessary. Yes it could go around but it's not a problem the way it went.
Can you fit a MSI Radeon R7 260X OC in that pC?? Pls tell me
Did it post?
I guess the heat inside is too much will drop performance. Maybe a case swap??
I got a 7070 MT and was wondering if you tried any longer GPUs. I have seen some videos of longer GPUs, using mods to the case...

Can i use standart atx psu?
Nice!

Did you make a 24 to 8 pin adapter or did you buy that elsewhere?
looked like a homemade etsy rig
Love it
Hey quick question can the ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6600 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card, fit in.?
No it cannot fit inside. That's why I installed Zotac GTX 1080ti 11GB mini.
Just curious, why not buy a new case?
Because I want to show something different. That this computer can be modified in its original case. Buying a new case is the easy way.
what gtx card was that?
Zotac Gtx 1080 ti mini
what is max height tolerance for cpu cooler?
Where did you get these ram modules?
I got them from a shop in my country.
which GPU is shown in the video if someone could tell me thanks
Hi. GPU is ZOTAC 1080ti mini 11GB.
Is it possible to put normal psu size?
Yes it is possible but with certain dimensions.
Have u connected the GPU to blue color slot. Just to confirm ?
yes should be the full speed one (16x) gen 3.0
What's the spec of the GPU?
Zotac GTX 1080ti GB
Does it work
Good morning. Yes it works. Check my gaming channel in the link in the description. Thank you.
