    So far the best organized channel on RUclips with very well thoughtful conversation. Am in the middle of completing my medical records application for becoming a commissioned officer with a master of science of health information management

    When I was in USAF in 70s the officers had it made. Free housing free medical a great salary and they could eat at the chow hall for a dollar. The supply officers really had it made.

    "You ain't going to be a millionaire"??? I beg to differ! I don't see how you could retire from the military after having a career as an officer and NOT be a millionaire. The take-home pay for an O3 with only 5 years of experience is equivalent to that of a $110-$120k salary in most states. If you can't turn your net worth into $1M witht that kind of pay then you are doing something wrong.

      I agree but for many, things get in the way, like a new truck, something I have never owned but look at the vehicles in the housing areas on all bases. As an Army officer my savings rate varied. Some regrets for sure but some wins as well. Now if you want to supercharge your savings after you retire and don’t want to go corporate, take a GS job overseas. You can easily save over half your pay + retirement + VA disability if you qualify. Also you can get the government to pay a mortgage on your home or your rent if you choose not to buy. But if you buy a home in say Germany, you own the home after 10 years of scheduled mortgage payments or if you sell prior, you keep the gained equity in the sale.

      Some enlisted have stable passive income. They’re doing well but I overall agree.

      if you’re an officer, you won’t live in the dorms so you can have whatever pets you want.

    Hey I’m currently a junior in college and am considering applying for OTS out of school and to hopefully join the Airforce as a finance officer. I currently have student loans for my degree and was wondering if and what the Airforce does for those already graduated college joining OTS with student debt.

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  10 месяцев назад +2

      nothing. the Air Force doesn’t have a loan forgiveness program.

      They do but I believe the debt have to be a federal direct loan and may repay up to $65,000. Check with the finance office or recruiter for additional details.

    Hey. I hope y'all see this, but I was planning on joining the air force and becoming an officer.. it has always been a dream of mine to join the military and to serve. But I have one question: do all air force officers have blood on their hands? Do all of them make decisions to have someone killed?

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  6 месяцев назад +1

      the answer to your question is far more complicated than a simple yes or no. and the best way to provide the answer is for you to arrive at it yourself.
