He's getting more and more comfortable speaking on camera. Excellent video! Add a strap to the CO2 bottle so you can secure it to the tank to keep it from moving around. The gasoline has damaged the inner seals of the pressure washer nozzle......causing it to leak.
Also the issue about the fuel burning in the air (and not landing on the ground) is due to the fuel being too quick burning. If you lower the flammability slightly you will have a mixture which is on fire that you can spray onto surfaces
try a stream nozzle instead of spray. that should help also. how about some napalm instead of gas/diesel mix??...
napalm would be too gummy and shoot out in big globs.
Add more diesel. The gasoline is flashing off shortly after the nozzle. The extra fuel oil in the mix will help.

I would assume the reason for the leaky nozzle was due to bad o-rings in the handle, likely because they're not meant for fuel.

gas has a lower surface tension, so some things like this don't work

you need to figure out what the optimal pressure level is and put a pressure regulator between the Co2 bottle and the fuel tank so you always have about the "same pressure" right in the sweet spot.

I believe it is not the pressure that influences the type of flame. Your mixture would work better reversed: 80% diesel and 20% gasoline. Gasoline is so volatile it will not stay in a stream, diesel will. Also, gas is lighter than water and behaves differently as a liquid, splashes farther and so on. Water molecules have adhesion and cohesion which means it sticks to things and to itself, and that creates strong surface tension. Gasoline is not like that so it splashes more. Diesel is denser and should give you a better cohesive stream which carries farther and covers what you spray in flames that continue to burn. Use only enough gas to make it volatile. Possibly 90-10. Great video.

The gun is likely leaking because the seals were designed for water and the gasoline is breaking them down and sneaking by

Is there small tanks for gasoline? If I ever make this I don't want to risk burning the whole place down

The reason your flamethrower is leaking is that most pressure washers use EPDM Rubber seals. EPDM is not compatible with petroleum fuels and causes your seals to swell and ultimately fail. Switching out your seals with buna-n (nitrile) or Viton will fix this problem. Also, your range is limited because of the small valve orifice size combined with a larger nozzle diameter. It's causing extremely turbulent flow as it exits the barrel. Shoot me a PM and we'll go over some easy fixes.

The gaskets you are using are for water, gasoline is costic & requires a different type of gasket. Use the green ones that you see with cutting/ welding torches or the same ones you'll find inside an old gas pump. Nice build though boy's.

Gasoline is a solvent. It probably ate away at a rubber component inside of your valve.
That's a plausible explanation why the first one failed, and if so then the new pressure washer may fail eventually, too, depending on design and materials.
I was also thinking a valve designed for the lubricity, viscosity, and surface tension of water may not perform the same way with a Diesel/Gasoline mix.
I'm thinking this. Probably used a rubber washer or o ring somewhere in the sprayer. The new one probably uses metal washers inside
Diesel is also well known to destroy rubber. Which is why fuel hoses need to be made of neoprene instead.

Nice build! Perhaps a pressure regulator of sorts would help you have a more sense of control for the desired flame. Maybe from the co2 to the tank, or from the tank to the nossle? Anyways, awesome as always!

One thing you can do is take a regulator, you can also get these from paintball, and it will allow you to adjust the internal pressure of the tank to whatever gives you the best stream while still keeping a constant stream of air pressure that is even no matter how long you hold it.

The hose was likely leaking due to the fuel eating the gaskets and seals. If the gun was from a pressure water the seals are only rated for water and would dissolve in a solvent. You would need to replace the seals with fuel rated gaskets and O-rings to correct the issue. Nice video guys!

That sounds "cool", but I think the bottle would pretty much explode. Liquid nitrogen creates a lot of pressure and is never to be put in a sealed container.

I'm pretty sure (if you are in the U.S.) it is legal, under federal law*, to own a flamethrower, so I'm pretty sure you can make your own.
