What’s really cool is the feedback response I get from this cool moment. Kids were young then singing and playing the rain. Some ppl enjoy that. Others enjoy the white noise to use the vid for sleep. Others are in awe of a high quality extreme rare heavy southern cal downpour that actually was going on 10 min before I pull out my camera so the event sat still for a while. Anyways thank you to anyone who enjoys and shares thoughts. God bless you all for watching.
I find it very relaxing to both watch and listen to the rain. When I was young, it seemed like rain lasted most of the day. Now, it is a shower then moves off.
Many years ago I was working on a construction site in Maida Vale, West London. There was a lot of metal scaffolding around the building we were working on and I suspect that it was the sheer amount of metal that was responsible for attracting or drawing the lightning bolt. I had just exited the building onto the street when there was an intense and almost blinding flash of lightning. The bang of thunder that almost instantaneously followed was truly astonishing. Never in my entire life had I heard such a shockingly violent crack of thunder. It was as if a mortar bomb had gone off a couple of feet above my head. The flash of lightning and crack of the thunder were practically simultaneous so it was directly above me where the lightning had struck the scaffolding. Prior to that day I had always loved the rumbling rolling thunder which usually meant the lightning was a fair distance away but after that day I appreciated the fact that lightning can split an old tough tree in two and kill a man in a nano-second. Frequently it does.
Thanks. It was very rare. There was a purple cell ( heaviest color for rain radar) and It literally sat over this area for about 30 min without moving. It basically stalled out. So yes very rare. This was is highland California. Thanks for the comment and the view. Take care
Whitnessed the same thing at least your standing dry I was running like crazy I was hangin with a friend on a skatepark when this happened standing under a halfpipe. Water came through the halfpipe in like 10 seconds and the rain lasted for like 20/25 minutes after that is was dry again
`Best rain I ever saw was in the northern plains of Spain in 1989. I was traveling from Valladolid to Santiago de Compostela when I decided to stop at a cafe that was on the opposite side of the road to me. As I got out of the car it began to rain, so I dashed across the road into the cafe. I couldn`t have been more soaked if I`d dropped into a swimming pool. I was drenched to the skin in a matter of seconds. `Loved it.
This brings back a lot of great memories. I played in the rain all the time. When I became a gram, I played in it with my granddaughter’s. We loved it.
had some sustained heavy rain happen out here in Virginia a few days ago. it looked something like this, went on for about 20 minutes, actually got heavier as it made its way here, showed up as pinkish-purple on accuweather's radar and just when you thought it was over there'd be another burst of heavy rain. sounded like it was roaring and rumbling the whole time lol
Reminds me of home... I live in Nebraska now, but I grew up my whole initial life in Louisiana. I miss my old home. It had a porch and I'd sit in a rocking chair while watching an entire storm or shower. So peaceful. If there was one reason I'd be willing to go back home, it'd be for the typical weather I had grown to love.
I feel the same way about South Florida. I loved nothing more than a wild thunderstorm and the fresh air. I also loved the Night-Blooming Jasmine, Moon Flowers and Gardenias. I miss them!
There's a great song by the Pat Metheny Group called "Slip Away", and in the video, you see Pat walking through a park on a rainy day and hear kids playing in the background. That care-free look on his face says it all! I just grin when it rains, too, because my nerve pain goes away. I've always loved it when it rains, but I love it even more these days.

@@djgynee Oh yes, I'd love to chase the big storms too. I grew up in Minnesota and got to experience one tornado as a kid. We had to hide out in our basement. A month or so ago we had a decent rainfall (by desert standards) out here in Palm Springs. I uploaded the video, but I'm terrible at recording and editing. A few years ago in Joshua Tree there was a pretty bad flood which I got caught in while exploring the rain lol. But yes, we need another big storm. Maybe this year 🤞
It’s so rare here. This video was 2012? 10 years later nothing worth videoing yet. This is more like a mini hurricane. It was a micro cell. At 2” per hour 12 hours and you’d have 2 feet of rain. ramesh shah well we did go out for a little but once it started to get sketchy and the downburst got intense with wind and lightning a few blocks over I figured it was a little safer under the awning until calmed a little. This was in Highland, Ca. Thank for watching!

Chris Beswick ya we are always dry. Sometimes 3” for an entire year. This was a mirco burst/ cloud burst at one point in the video. I couldn’t believe how long this lasted. Like I said I was watching the radar live on my phone a the purple( heaviest color for rain) just sat over our area for over 30 min and didn’t move. Very rare. Maybe once every decade. That rain fall reminds me of the monsoon season in Vietnam..Field troops would strip down grab a bar of soap and start scrubbing..About the time you get all lathered up, the freaking rain stops and you are standing there trying to figure out why as the soap dries...
Just freakin loved it witnessing this IRL is rare so whenever it is 45 degrees celcius outside I just look up awesome weather like this and relax with coffee in my hand.

That happens regularly here in New Orleans. We get big thunderstorms a lot but only one with that much rain every month or so; it used to be more but climate change is messing up our weather real bad. Yep, 1 1/2 - 2" in about 40 minutes, then the clouds disappear, the sun comes out and everybody goes back to doing whatever it was they were doing before. :) Watching all that water running down I feel sorry for whoever it is that lives at the bottom of the hill.
The heaviest rain I ever saw was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We were in a Volvo station wagon, and when we pulled into a parking lot, the water at the bottom of the apron came up to the runningboards. I think this beats that, though.
This is what people picture when I say I'm from seattle. But ive lives here 13 years never seen rain like this xD. We had a few flash floods from thunder storms but super super rare! Road my motorcycle in one. Not as bad as this. Looks like it would feel good to walk in, in a hot Cali day lol. Is this SoCal? Thats crazy. I always picture Cali as sunny 24/7 no rain. Bet it feels nice!

Irshad Plus Thank you for watching. I love the rain and extreme weather. Only lovers of rain searched this video out. When the next big storm comes. I’ll be ready again with my camera
Earlier today it rained so hard for 5 minutes. If it had continued for a whole hour, it would've rained 4.2" in one hour. I was soaked in seconds. Still, this footage is very incredible and the fact that it continued for as long as it did is incredible in itself. On behalf footage, however, I think it is honestly the best footage of a torrential downpour that turns out to be hail or nature sounds. Thank you so much for posting this, it gave me the reference I needed on our own torrential downpour. So for that, I thank you. :)

I wonder if climate change is why New Jersey thunderstorms are do hit and miss anymore? If so, then those who fear thunderstorms have less to fear.
Grafton North Dakota in ‘86, 2.5 inches in 19 minutes. Imagine raindrops spreading 4 to 5 inches on your windshield.
When we were kids we loved being outside during rains like that...if it was warm outside.
Bob Silver it was warm outside Bob. That’s the great part about this. Mud summer August
Well filmed!
Beautiful my childhood memories
Hey...
That's very heavy indeed
I was outside, shooting baskets. And it came down hard. I was a mop, soaking wet, could barely see that far because how much it poured. But it was fun
Timmy Turner I’ll bet. Good to hear!
I remember one time where I lived it rained so hard the whole street where I live was flooded
A weather for the Gardens.
The heaviest rain I ever saw was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We were in a Volvo station wagon, and when we pulled into a parking lot, the water at the bottom of the apron came up to the runningboards. I think this beats that, though.
That was lovely to see and hear especially your trailer park,we do not have anything as nice in the uk.
Thank you. It is nice.! Waiting 10 years for next rsin
In the Philippines there is a lot of heavy rains like that and it’s raining right now! It’s so loud that I’m covering my ears with a pillow :(
Rain events are common in Australia summer manly in January
This is fucking beautiful
If this was me taking the vid while it's raining I would literally run to my bed and and then open the Window and sleep as deep as I can.
Why waste time sleeping when you can sit outside and enjoy for a bit, getting drenched in little rain wont do bad.
Boopy Doopy it’s just that it doesn’t rain a lot out here and I love to sleep while it’s raining

@@djgynee _ stay blessed.
what a beautiful clip
vecine thank you
Earlier today it rained so hard for 5 minutes. :)
Nathaniel Holmes wow thx
5:20 it's raining like canadairs in action.
