The sad part is- in real life, this guy would not be remembered fondly. He would not be the man who prevented child labour and amputations, but would be remembered as the man who extened working hours :/
not nessisarily. FDR was remembered for his good things and not the bad stuff. The reworked US gov't to resist future presidents like him ever since he had his 4 terms.
This game simulates what it's like to try and guide a bunch of ungrateful malcontents while God continuously takes a dump on your head "Guys, I know I promised warms homes, but this blizzard-" "YOU PROMITHED! YOU BWOKE YOUR PROMITHE! UR THE WORST CAPTAIN EVAR!"
The build order is still pretty viable, The 4x 24hr shifts will now cause an event to not use them for three days, tell them you wont address it. You'll end up with the lower discontent ultimatum which will be resolved the next day when the 24hr shifts end. As for the gravely ill, make sure your two medical posts are finished and add ten engineers before midnight. Engineers in a medical post can't get sick. After about 4.30 on the second day take them out to finish any building you need done. As well when you send out your scouts make sure your worker pool is literally 5 sick workers. Once they start heading for a location those five sick people will vanish. Just keep in mind they will still be sick when you disband them for the storm. Also remember that now to have to deconstruct the cook house to stop people from eating until they are hungry. Just pause the deconstruction until you need it then stop deconstructing it.
@@justsomeuser5123 Don't know if it was patched at some point or not, but as long as the medical post is operational they wont get sick in the current update. Who knows it might even be a bug introduced at some point.
Just adding one very weird and kinda ez facts (or bug that never got fixed idk), u dont even need to dismembered the scouts, so they can stay sick and reappeare after the storm's finished, so u basically, never need to treat them :')
Oh, I've never tried before to use hothouses. But one hothouse can provide food for 84 peoples, that's amazing! I've used a general idea of your strategy and survived 100 days - for the first time in many-many tries. It seems I've always failed because used hunters and had not enough free people to survive. Thank you very much!
Thats genius to use ill workers as scouts, wish i thought of that! Im learning a lot from you. Would appreciate any cool frostpunk content you can make. Trying out other effective tech paths would be interesting to watch. Extreme only of course
I'm considering doing another run here soon... I was thinking a no beacon run? With no deaths,etc... That might be a little crazy but I could probably pull it off, we'll have to see! And thanks for watching!
@@prismancer7954 I was thinking of trying a no beacon run in some of my playthroughs but im not quite good enough yet , ill be practicing more in the mean time. Commentary would be nice if possible :)
I think this doesn't work anymore because of the latest patches? I do exactly the same things as in this video and I get gravely ill, reduce discontent ultimatum, etc. I guess this was good.
i usually pass the storm but, last time i did i ended up with 60% of the pop gravely ill shortly thereafter (the game waits a few hours to make them sick). I was unable to maintain coal production and was out of food. once the generator went down my people starved and froze within 3 days afterward. Still surviving the first storm initially was a big achievement.
Hmm one thing I am seeing in your game is that you find a lot more resources and survivors on the expeditions, the version I am playing on now seems to have nerfed that a lot.
^ this, I was just thinking that the seed must have been amazing because 2/3 nodes i explore give nothing but more nodes- and the first node in any direction never nets me anything. Not to mention his abuse of the 24 hour policy at the start didn’t outright kill someone. In my experience, child labor on harder difficulties is almost required as your first policy. First day with 15 more bodies saves runs. Maybe beacon was OP back in the day- and I understand it if you found things on every node- but I would put beacon lower in priority with the inconsistency of actually finding anything and if that thing was what you needed. I’d rather not rely on rng if my run will be successful or not. At least in the scenarios you know what you’ll get from each node.
I’ve noticed a year later (maybe it’s just my game) but the 24hr shift doesn’t appear to work on resources anymore? I’ve loaded this save over and over but everyone stops the 24hr shift at Free Time. No resources are being collected at night. Nothing was being built. They were on Free Time with 4x 24hr shifts going
Quite well done! Especially building! I still can’t rotate all structures to build them with different direction and degrees. You’re doing it with using of roads, right?
How do you get zero deaths when you're using 24 hour shift? I thought that there's always 1 "story" death when you first use it, you spam a load down at the start and it never triggers.
Right at the begining I always get the complaining about the 24h shifts... Way before the need for houses. I'm never able to copy this video because of that. If I ignore it the discontent raises immediately to the max. I'm playing on console. Is it harder?
same here. have you managed to do it. i have been going on for about few days now and still struggle. I have managed to go pass the first storm with this guide but my people just die after it. and the storm is -70 when passes go down to -40 few days later back up to -70. i cant even collect anything due to this. let me know if u managed to finish it in any way
Just as I thought I was getting good, extreme endurance is causing me big problems... sickness is off the charts, I think too much Extended shift is causing it? But you have to push hard to get anywhere. I can't tech fast enough either. You need Gen 2 for the first storm but also need bunkhouses and the steel output is slow...don't get me started on coal requirements...even with thumpers it's a struggle. I've tried wall drill, saw mills, hothouses, huts, but it seems impossible to get stable. I've made it past the first storm but then the game still throws further temp drops at you..it is ridiculous 😒
Yea this is outdated. I noticed it was when people weren’t collecting resources at night during the 24hr Shift. Don’t do 24hr Shift for more resources at the start. It straight up doesn’t work anymore
There are lists of what each location will contain, it's possible that you can have 3 choices all of which give no resources so it's not worth risking the scouts on the off chance you get a better spawn which could be too far away
At 16:58 a woman swears. I've never heard this. In fact, I've never heard anything more than groups of people booing. Is there a voice pack mod or something installed?
I started hearing it, recently in my games. Must be a difficulty thing, as I only discovered it while playing on hard/extreme difficulty. Maybe a patch, but what a weird thing to add late to the game :P
This doesn't work anymore. Popping more than one 24 hr shift gets you a citizen request right off the bat and raises discontent. There are a ton more citizen requests in general with the latest patch.
It's still possible, you'll just have max discontent midday day 1 because you're forced to ignore the 24 hour shift request. I'd recommend doing sawdust instead of soup especially if you're doing overcrowding. Just from building 4 tents and feeding majority of people you settle to a manageable amount of discontent. If you are cutting it close you can remove all extended shifts to reduce it by a good chunk
I think there have been some changes since you did this run. Cuttently on Extreme, the numbers of sick people living in cold homes in -40 is at least double that of the video. Do you think you could redo this run sometime soon?
My thoughts exactly, leaving too many houses at cold status is a recipie for disaster. Recent patches must have made endurance even harder...? I'm struggling like hell...
I had the same question and rewatched the video for that reason. I first thought that the game mechanics might have changed, but then found this on the gamepedia for frostpunk "Aside from the scripted death, you can always trigger emergency shift on any coal pile, steel wreckage, wood crates, wooden ruins, or steel ruins without triggering any deaths." So I tried and it works exactly this way. Which is also why I think he did not use the emergency shift on the much more productive gathering post and on the basic piles instead. Again a detail learned from this great video.
