- Today 33111 helped move the 4TC units that were stored at Harmans cross to Swanage station . It was restricted to 15 MPH which helped me follow it's progress along the line. Work will once again start on getting the unit back into working order .
Is it just me or does anyone else find it very satisfying watching old and sad looking carriages actually turning a wheel again over the rails ? It's like they've come alive again.
Yes I do it's great what they can do nowadays
It's all good stuff, Andre
Thanks Jamie for getting this move on film for us to watch. Mike.
My late father's favourite signal box was Harman's Cross, he kept it immaculate too
A nice job they've done already on that one coach that's been repainted. 33111 looks in very convincing 'working clothes' condition
Very interesting to see what goes on at SR when closed to the public, thanks for uploading 👍.
State of those carriages 😩 Looks like a lot of work involved, good luck to the staff at SR for this project, it will be well worth it, reviving memories of class 33 plus 4TC Bournemouth-Weymouth. Must admit I’d rather travel in those carriages though, than the cramped plastic rubbish main line trains of today !
On a separate note, brilliant to see the SR Diesel Gala dates officially announced. Hoping they can get the locos that were scheduled in 2019 before Covid ruined it ☹️ it looked a good collection, I recall 37190, D4, 55019, 50021 were agreed, plus others
I'm hoping that it'll be possible for SR to have either their DMUs or a pair of SWR class 159s doing shuttle services between Wareham and Corfe Castle (all the way to Swanage would be nice but probably not doable with the other trains also running on the line)

I understand what you mean, but I just do not like units 😖 I think the overwhelming majority want diesel locomotive hauled services, and for the whole railway to retain that ‘retro’ 60’s/70’s/80’s scene at the diesel galas. Modern units would look totally out of place. At the recent SR galas before Covid a 33 (D6515), a 20 (007) and 50 (049) were used on Wareham shuttles to the SR.
As the SR gala is one of the earliest this year, I’m hoping there’s lots of locos available to visit from other Heritage lines, some of which are mainline certified. Two 37’s top’n’tailed Wareham to Swanage would be perfect !
@@brianbunn3604 Whatever combo they went for if it did happen, I hope they could do the same discounted tickets they did back when the SWR 159s were doing the Wareham-Corfe shuttles
Ghost Train! Good job it wasn't very windy.
Their stock
great video, the 4TC is in a sorry state, will cost thousands to restore, but good luckto those who take the challenge
Their ...not there..
I wonder how many more Diesel galas will pass before we get to see this working in Push/Pull mode with 33111?!
Fantastic!
Wow, a lot of restro work will be needed on that.
There's three driving vehicles, so it looks like they've got enough for one and a half sets

What does the red and white headcode mean?
I miss working in Cambridge the A1/M seems to be a truck favourite route for moving locomotives on low loaders. Is that a Bullied buffet car or BR Mk1?
Br mk1. It's from a 4-BIG.
Having arrived at Swanage, what happens next with these carriages?

What's under the tarpaulin behind the engine?
I recall it being just past Harmans Cross station last year, it’s he other driving coach of the 4TC set (see it at 2:56 in Jamie’s video) in blue and white livery, yellow end. I guess covered to stop rain water leaking in ?
I saw it today at the buffers at Swanage Station, visible from the main road
Did you mean "their" not "there"?
Stock now taken back to Harmans Cross as platform space needed for half term
Was that one of the London Underground sets?
Yes they are. The 4Tc group brought them for spares only.
THEIR stock
Engine idle is way too high.
Harman's Cross. But isn't she always?
It's been moved to the platform on Swanage to carry out work whilst the railway is on a winter shutdown before the season starts again.
Yes, but so's the king; sets a bad example - commoners follow.
Desperate looking rolling ztock...
