I think you need to put some relief cuts into the top of the bottle as the party poppers only use a thin bit of paper to keep everything inside with the harder plastic containers to guide the force of the explosion. Maybe a bit less of the paper would be helpful as well to let the explosion push your lighter papers up and out from the top of your bottle, top being the bottom of where you want the confetti to come out.
The bubbles will expand until the air finds a way to escape. Whether it would pop or not, I do not know, it may just fizzle. Depends on how high the pressure gets before they burst.
Fun video! The bottles will rupture in seemingly random paces, basically from the weak areas as a result of manufacture. [some are predictable based on design, others will just be a result of variations in material integrity] If you want a more controlled rupture, you need to create a defined weak point, so it fractures from the stress before any other part. Some light scoring should do the trick.

i think you could make the confetti fly waaaay farther if you made something like a barrel to load them into. could help with making sure it all blows out the bottom of the bottle rather than right next to your hand. maybe even reduce some of the sound so its safer in enclosed spaces

As for the bottle deciding to explode in random places, you might be able to mitigate that by notching the bottom of the bottle to make it a weaker point which will hopefully always give way before the neck. I think that's how automobile airbags always manage to inflate so perfectly - the dashboard and steering wheel coverings over the airbags are notched.

I've worked with certain materials before that are meant to have predetermined fractures, such as concrete sidewalks. I wonder if you scored an "X" or "star" pattern on the bottom of the water bottle with a razor blade if it would give you a more uniform blast. Anyways, it's always fun watching your videos and my family always enjoys seeing the King and Queen together. 😉

I was expecting Grant to score the bottom of the bottle to weaken the plastic and strengthen the top somehow to ensure protection of the hand and a forward ejection of the confetti. Kinda surprised me when they set them off without any of that. I would have at least scored the bottom.
You could cast an aluminum sleeve for the water bottles that leaves only the top of the cap and bottom of the bottle exposed. This would protect your hand and ensure everything flies out in the intended direction.
Why don't you try putting a paper end on the bottle like the small poppers have - since explosions travel the path of least resistance that should make them much safer.
Also for a future video could you get one of those little bottles of propane you would get at Walmart (about 16.4 oz) and blow it up? I've always wondered what might happen if it was to explode

As for the bottle deciding to explode in random places, you might be able to mitigate that by notching the bottom of the bottle to make it a weaker point which will hopefully always give way before the neck. I think that's how automobile airbags always manage to inflate so perfectly - the dashboard and steering wheel coverings over the airbags are notched.

I've worked with certain materials before that are meant to have predetermined fractures, such as concrete sidewalks. I wonder if you scored an "X" or "star" pattern on the bottom of the water bottle with a razor blade if it would give you a more uniform blast. Anyways, it's always fun watching your videos and my family always enjoys seeing the King and Queen together. 😉

maybe if you make a small cut on the bottom of the bottle you can ensure that the weakest point is the one you whant the confetti to go out instead of being any other part of the bottle.

I was expecting Grant to score the bottom of the bottle to weaken the plastic and strengthen the top somehow to ensure protection of the hand and a forward ejection of the confetti. Kinda surprised me when they set them off without any of that. I would have at least scored the bottom.

You could cast an aluminum sleeve for the water bottles that leaves only the top of the cap and bottom of the bottle exposed. This would protect your hand and ensure everything flies out in the intended direction.
can you use the vacuum chamber instead of boiling water to get clear ice? (boiling takes tiny air bubbles out) if so make a clear and opaque pokeballs

Why don't you try putting a paper end on the bottle like the small poppers have - since explosions travel the path of least resistance that should make them much safer.
I was thinking the same thing, use plastic tape to seal it and make it air tight, but still a lot weaker than the bottle.
