Can you match S9 with leica lens like voigtlander nokton 40 f1.4. I really want to see how its color compare to leica. And also rolling shutter issue with electronic shutter.
At this point, i just feel like it isn’t about the camera but the one behind the camera. Because like i mean, just look at this..... I see so much capabilities with this.

I no longer do much video...stills are my thing...The S9 is not for me...I rock with a pair of Sony A7c (mk 1) and an old Sony A7s (mk 1). all for street here in Bangkok.
I wanted Panasonic to continue the GX9 (mk 2 ???) and or OM to continue venerable Pen F (mk 2 ???) ...Anyway I'm done with m43 for now...Cheers.

@@KofiYeboah It's not the ideal camera for filmmakers but Pro filmmakers will be using it.
@natureredux1957 ive seen one youtuber rig it out, he didnt need an evf because of the field monitor, didnt need a grip because its on a shoulder rig, didnt need the shutter and recording limit because its recording externally. Same on a studio talking head setup, you dont need all the missing feats. They are mostly cosmetics, the brain of the S5ii is still there.
Can it be used professionally, yes.
Why every device from Panasonic Lumix must be for professionals? This camera was designed and produced at the first for fun and joy, It's stupid classify it for professionals.

IDK Kofi... I think I still like the A7Cii a bit more (even with the high $). While marketed as a content creator's camera, I think this is more for the "point & shoot" "just starting" crowd. Also L-Mount lenses are limited.

@@KofiYeboah FF L-mount lenses vs E-Mount aren't even close. Additionally, adapters are mostly for manual or older Nikon and Canon mounts. It's too bad that you can't adapter Sony E-mount but it's a flange design issue. I'll wait for the mk 2 version.
RUclipsr always forget the third kind of people that need open gate video recording: taller aspect ratio fetishist like me 😂. I never use anamorphic, and I very rarely upload my videos to social media, beside content that I taken with smartphone. For me personally, I just love taller AR, especially 4:3, that reminds me of home videos from the 90s and a lot of good ol' classic movies. Lastly, it's easier to compose my frame with 3:2 or 4:3 because it's the same AR as my still cameras. Anyway, good videos as always!

Indeed you wouldn`t even be able to shoot this vid in one go.
It shuts off after 15 mins.
And it doesn`t have a viewfinder.
It has no mechanical shutter.
No hotshoe.
No headphone jack.
It has extremely limited full Hd recording time.
It comes with a crazy stupid 26mm f8 manual focus lens.
Indeed forget about filmmaking with this camera.

Honestly I think the features you talk about that’s missing. Isn’t really relevant for this camera because its intended purpose wasn’t for what we think it’s for.
It was clearly made for photos with video features that was for small content creating specifically like IG.
Versus Sony’s compact cameras aren’t really made for a compact enthusiast people.
They’re just a literal compact version of the bigger cameras.
But anyways, basically what I’m saying is we should use the camera for what it’s intended purpose was. It was like when people were mad at the ZV1 for overheating. It didn’t make sense to me because it was made for small content.

If it would’ve had a mechanical shutter I would’ve followed through with pre ordering! That was my deal breaker. I have a zve1 and for photo it just isn’t the most ideal with the electronic shutter sadly. 😢

With some of the interesting choices Panasonic made with this camera I think there are much better option in the "Content First" camera space.
If you are just starting out the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and ZV-E10 are great for smaller budgets.
For form factor, the ZV1 has much more features for a full sensor camera in this niche.
I don't think the slightly cheaper price will cover some of the short comings of this camera, but if it works in a person's ecosystem then nothing but good vibes on their creation journey!
I think both are great cameras, but I will say I think brands are investing more into the content creators tools (since some make as much as working filmmakers or more) so everyone’s finding their formula, the Osmo pocket 3, amazing, but if I wanted something full frame, lens options and still have 6k open gate and it’s $1499, I can’t think of another camera that does that for that little!
@@KofiYeboah but once you are spending 1500, why not just spend 1800 (or even less used) and get the S5II or spend 2k and get the ZV-E1 (which offer a lot more I think). Like there is no way I think this could be the ONLY camera you use. I think the S5II could be the go to camera, for pretty much everything a person starting out might want to do.
This camera, to me, strikes me as the 3rd or 4th camera for someone who is really into cameras. It's basically a non-starter for video due to the recording limits and no audio monitoring at all. It's similar to the X100VI, it's niche, and maybe fun, but going to be super annoying on a regular basis because you won't be able to do everything you want, I think.
If you were starting out, and only going to get one camera, would it be this one or the S5II, be honest...I don't think it's even close.
@@MaximoJoshua I think you hit a nail on the head, this camera wasn’t made to be used for the same reasons as say an S5, we asked this EXACT question, and the team explained that outside of the pro or pro aspired, their research proved that that half those things didn’t matter to those folks
The make up of the Japan trip wasn’t many pro photogs or filmmmakers , it was people who made content NOT in this niche and wanted a small quality camera. I’ve had so many fitnes influencer clients, not once have I seen one use a viewfinder, headphones, on camera flash or a monitor, or record long clips truth is this camera has a niche outside of our scope, and most people are tempted to insert the “pro” mentality, it’s very much not, and Lumix is open about that
@@KofiYeboah i guess, but I think that someone with an S5II can do everything this camera can do, without the limitations, and probably for the same price and when I saw them side by side, they looked pretty similar in size.
that is what makes this one harder to justify or recommend to a beginner. I think S5II is just better, maybe it's my mentality, but i am just thinking of options and flexibility, too many compromises with the S9. That is why I think it's probably a perfect 3rd or 4th camera for someone who has a better tool for long form stuff, or for photo specific stuff. Instead of getting the Fuji x100vi, get this one, and its your "fun" camera.
Anyway, just my opinion.

I'd say, probably one of the better reviews that I've seen so far on the S9. It was very informative. I know this camera is not for me. I'm very deep into the Sony ecosystem and with DJI releasing that adapter for use of the Sony MI Hot Shoe, makes me happy. I have a real dislike for cables sticking out of my camera and having it partially block my screen. That's just me though. Great Video! 😀

This morning I typed "Lumix S9" into the RUclips search bar, loaded 20(!) videos in the queue, went out to the living room, settled into the big comfy chair and watched 'em all back-to-back on the big screen. Yours was the last in the queue - so, it's the one I'm commenting on. First let me start by saying, thank you. I really appreciate your intelligent, articulate style and the time and effort you (and your crew?) have put into making a high quality video. I wish I could engage you and a couple of the others in a dialog but...well...yeah.
I see this camera, along with the (amazing) app, as a creativity liberating step up from an iPhone or Go-Pro (not a step down from an S5ii or a novel twist on the X100vi). In that space, for someone who's kinda just starting out, somebody who's made a hundred iPhone videos and wants step up their game, wants to have a little more creative freedom without all the time, effort and hassle of heavy post processing...to that person, the electronic shutter, the missing evf, missing earphone jack, the cold shoe, and .... oh, and the video recording time limits are simply not an issue. In fact, I'm kinda scratching my head wondering why all these highly talented , experienced, respected experts making such a big deal about these things...but I bet a lot of folks will hear the influencers' message and be put off from the S9. To me, the small size, the app, the realtime aspect of the relatime LUTs, the L-mount, and the IBIS, make this camera especially interesting. Anyway, thank you again. I look forward to more of your thoughts on the S9. Peace.

Really dope frames throughout this video. I have the s5ii and have loved it. Coming from an a6500 the upgrade in features was appreciated. Really like what lumix is doing in the space.

Man this looks like such a little beast of a camera. I’ve actually been looking for something like this. Outside of my pro video work, I hate taking my camera around for travel or family pics etc. I was interested in something like a Fuji, but this would keep me in one lens ecosystem.
My ONLY beef is the lack of compelling small lenses to maximize It’s small size. That 26mm ain’t it. I would love a small 28mm, 35mm, or 49mm f2.8 with autofocus. Outside of new lenses, The 20-60 looks like a beast of a pairing with it.

All I'm gonna say is, I like it. For the price and features I'm all for it.
Well...one more thing. I don't care about headphone jacks. When I get a new camera, I shoot tests. Both for the footage and for audio. As we all know, the internal amps for cameras vary from camera to camera, brand to brand. So, if you don't record tests, I have nothing PG-rated to say to you. Seriously.
From the tests, you should be able to set your audio levels from there. If you can't, that's on you. For my narrative work, I always record audio externally and monitor it from the field recorder I'm using. If I record wirelessly, the kits I use have headphone jacks I can monitor from. I've never allowed the lack of a headphone jack get in the way of my filmmaking. In my book, it's a bad excuse.
An example where hearing audio might come in handy would be something like the DJI mic 1, on my fx6 there was a low ‘hiss’ coming from the camera that even setting levels I wouldn’t be able to see, and the in camera speaker didn’t play back til I put on headphones or brought it up in post, compact cameras exist where headphone jacks exist, so for it to not have one isn’t the WORST thing, but I didn’t want to feel like it’s something I HAVE to deal with if I don’t have to.
Also to be fair if this is an on the go camera, I might not have time to do an audio test on the fly if an issue shows up that I can’t find later down, it’d be handy to have is all

Would you say that this camera fits in an L mount production line? Say have it as a B cam or BTS camera among BMD Pixies or PCC6kFF?
The mount being similar may not imply the colour out of box being the same BUT I think for multi platform BTS (RUclips and IG) this would be handy! I generally don’t have 10+ long BTS clips BUT, not having a headphone jack is kind of a miss I wish they had

The S9: £1499, the S5II with extra battery: £1499 (Amazon). Sorry, but I'm not buying all the "creators" marketing mumbling. No hot shoe, no mechanical shutter, no headphone jack, no weather sealing, no EVF, the dedicated new pancake is f8 and manual focus only. And the nail to the coffin: 10 minutes limit in open gate! They butchered too much, and they ask way too much for this.. toy. It's expensive toy. Nothing more. They could make a slightly bigger body so it could cope better with over heating. 29min limit in open gate would be acceptable. No space for hot shoe? No cmon... Panasonic you greedy bastards.

For one, MOST of the people on the Japan trip weren’t filmmakers or photographers, the things that matter to us don’t matter to them. Also variation in region also played a slight role in camera expectations, less than a quarter were from North America (27 I think of 150), the standards we have are different
This camera has quirks, but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t completed two weeks of my social content in a lot less time with the option for reframing for say RUclips in less time, to which a “garbage” camera couldn’t do that, I think people have to realize every release doesn’t red their insertion, and it’s not for everyone, like the Pyxis.
A garbage camera would be unusable, I’ve managed to use and enjoy it like the other 149 people, making that statement more emotionally driven than factual
@@KofiYeboahGarbage camera is EXACTLY what this camera is. Panasonic severely crippled to this camera to stop it frpm cannibalizing its current and upcoming cameras and it shows! No EVF whem theyve had it on their MFT compacts for over a decade.
No headphone jack because screw us I guess (Not even a USB Adapter like Fuji just no way to monitor audio.
No Mechanical shutter which takes up literal millimeters in the body they just removed making it a worst photo camera than cameras made back in 2008 like the 5D Mark ii or even the 2012 Classic EOS M. Which by the way has an ACTUAL HOT SHOE! You know what every cameras has had for more than 2 decades. Even some point and shoots have.
And the icing on the cake is that god awful 26mm f8 lens. Like who in their right mind would even consider such trash. Brightin star made a 28mm f2.8 full frame Manual Focus lens that is much better and much thinner than what Panasonic decided to drag out on stage.
Face it, this camera is a boatload of compromises that they decided to try to sell to unsuspecting beginners all the while Content creators such as yourself make excuses for this poor attempt at a camera. Like really? Record limits in 1080p?!?!?! This is the G100 ALL OVER AGAIN!
