      I noticed it too! She has done it before! She switches back and forth effortlessly! Me? If I try and do the pencil grip, it’s really funny! I look ridiculous and can’t do it at all, lol. I learned using a knife grip over 50 years ago. I never knew there was any other way until I started taking lessons 10+ years ago!

    Beautiful shawl - will be on my to do list - one criticism - for those who may be newbies to crochet I think it would have best to show your border around your little swatch so as to show how to do corners - as someone who has crocheted for years I can wing it but a newbie may not😳 - although I am sure there are directions in the pattern 🙃

    • @smileNbarrett4sure
      @smileNbarrett4sure 3 года назад +1

      The yarn is OMG so beautiful and soft. Every Hank I have ever bought was worth it. For hand dyed beautiful bases. You can not find camel and mulberry silk anywhere else. Each is hand dyed no 2 are the same. Vellum is a soft silky fingering weight not sport but its $15.00 per skein. But in all honesty the yarn is worth the price. Just my opinion. But Vellum is cheaper. Look on site under SALE or TREATS. ITS AT BOTTOM ONE OF THE TOP THREE WILL TELL YOU IF THERE % OFF.

      Hi! I’d highly recommend searching online or at a local craft/yarn shop for a lace weight yarn that’s soft with good drape. Any kind of lace weight bamboo/acrylic/rayon/tencel mix yarn would probably work really well for this as you get good shine, weight, and drape and they’re more affordable than other fibers like silk. I like Soft Bamboo Fine by Go Handmade at Hobii./com and it starts at $5.50 a skein. (Only downside is their selection of colors is limited with so many out of stock.) But I hope this helps and good luck!

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  3 года назад +1

      Instead of using 2 colors for the border, just use one. You'll have enough yardage and won't need the extra skein. :) Also sign up for email updates and you'll get an automatic 15% off code and free shipping for any US order of $50+ - Thanks!

If you'd like to have a translation of the RUclips video you can try this trick: Turn on closed captions, and click on the Settings (the gear icon). Choose Subtitles/CC and to the right of that there is a language option. Use that to select Auto-Translate, and then choose Italian. RUclips will automatically translate the closed captions for you.

    Very pretty. I really like the stitch pattern for this..great tutorial and I notice you holding your hook differently..is that easier on your hand??

      @@ExpressionFiberArts Wouldn't those extra stitches affect the stitch count and row pattern? It's a beautiful piece as is but I'm not sure my brain would allow the "soft corners", which is why I would also like the full corners.

      This was my question too! Maybe the weight of the lace weight yarn prevents it from curling. But with a border that width, it’s hard to imaging it wouldn’t be distorted. Beautiful shawl. Love the patterns. Elegant!

      @@barbaramireles5625 There aren't any corners, since it is crochet in the round. But, if you want corners, you can just add 3 stitches in each one. Hope that helps.
