  • Here are a few tools and tips I have for a self-directed study of philosophy or literature.
Philosophical texts can be intimidating and often leave you confused after the first read. It's part of the game. But nevertheless, I wanted to share some of the simple steps I take to get more out of my reading and retain more of what I've read.

Zotero has genuinely changed my life by revolutionizing the way I research philosophy. I have almost all my work online now, including all my readings (e.g., books, journal articles, etc.) and I can annotate them in various colors and tag each annotation. I can also write notes and relate the notes to specific works/files. It is amazing. I *highly* recommend it to anyone, even if you are not researching. I also use notion to track my readings & further notes/writings that don’t necessarily fit into an annotation. I have linked my notion to Zotero as well with the Notero plug-in (I think that's what its called), which is also helpful/serves as a minor back up.
The best part: it is all free, if you know the right…pathways (lol).
