  • 2018 Fat Boy 117 Stage 4 First Ride
My first time on a stage 4 117 and it did not dissapoint. The engine was response, fluid and and the sound coming through was amazing. The Fat Boy felt easier to manage this time round however I still stick to my first impression of the bike not being designed for carving the roads.
Anyway as always its just an opinion. Make sure tobit that thumbs up button and if you're new to the channel hit that subscribe button.

I rode a FatBoy 114 at a dealer demo event during Harley’s 115th in Milwaukee. There is a ton of power. The handling is a bit different but you adapt quickly to it and learn to take corners slower and with a more aggressive lean. Great vlog man!

I love your enthusiasm coming through. As soon as you take off on a new bike, that is a huge thrill which you really speak to. So many other reviewers are riding along for ages waffling on about the weather or the price or the seat forgetting to describe the joy of that initial take off. Awesome review!

Absolutley love the fatboy. My dad had a 1998 95th anniversary fatboy when I was younger and loved them ever since. Not a fan of the newer front ends, they look abit too bulky and I'm not a fan of the new headlight either. Hopefully I'll have one, one day. Great test review motonewb!

Great video!! Your enthusiasm just draws the audience in... Definitely agree about the handling aspect of the bike. It is designed more for laid-back straight line performance, not to say it won't cut a tight line but quick transitions are not its cup of tea. Can only imagine what it feels like for a stage IV/114 in a light chassis. My stage II /114 in my Roadglide Ultra pulls so well, Love It!!
    Thanks ...

I have owned my 2018 Fat Boy 114 for just over a year now. These are actually great cornering bikes you just need to make sure the tire pressures are at or slightly above spec pressure. I put 44 lbs in the rear and 38 in the front and I just fling it around corners. Enjoyed the review.

The most beautiful Harley, in my eyes. I test rode all the softail range, loved the Fat Boy, bought the Heritage. I tour, and the Fatty has no real way of loading it up; also no screen. I got a 107 with stage one, which is plenty fast enough for me. Head ruled heart this time, but I still lust after old Fatty.

Yeah I love the bit where he goes on about the bars making it easy to chuck about, then tries to flick it left and right, and it moves an like an inch either way. You put that much steering input into a sport tourer you’d in the other lane.
They should’ve made them with the well ported heads the 117 kit comes with, an exhaust that actually flows and a decent map from the factory...
I’d still love one though, but it’s knowing how much extra money I’d have to throw down before I was totally happy with it.

Harley's are fun because they're rude and rough, loud and torquey. Sport bikes are fast and can carve corners, sure, but you'll never get that feeling of a torque-driven pull. In the corners, it's more of a handful as well but that's part of the fun. You're more engaged with the bike and the experience. And at the end of the day, you can relax and enjoy the ride without your back and shoulders killing you.

such an awsome video, and beautiful scenery !
i think the reason it being hard to lean while going a little fast ,is because the rear tire is wide, and the front is narrow(ish)
making it difficult to lean while going fast.
having the front and rear tire the same width , gives you better leaning performance and better stability while leaning going somewhat fast, or really fast.
dimensions is key to stability, but, you already knew that. lol
superbly awsome video !! 1000 thumbs up !

I'm happy with the stage 2

Proformance wish how does it compare to the 114, also can the bars be changed? The chrome looks wonderful but I'd be concerned about looking after it. Iv seen some horror videos with pitting on the wheels after only few thousand miles. Is the blacked out version easier to live with?

Any option to get the foot boards off?

Ive got a 117 fat bob stage 3 loads of power but runs out of steam at upper rev's so just bought the extra bits to make her a stage 4, hopefully be a beast for a Harley.

Back again 5 years later, bought myself a Fatboy instead of the Fat bob but it has a 131 stage 4 so love it.

Just like my '08 Rocker, the turns take a bit of practice, using lean and handlebars, you can go through turns no problem.
