I'm amazed that so many people had a hard time following the plot. It really wasn't so dense to say that. It was full of interesting story arcs happening that coalesce in the end. I only wish they turned up the Juice a little more, let him say FUCK without bleeping it, and let him say more raunchy jokes like the first one and it would have been perfect. Because everyone is either a little softer in their old age, or afraid to offend (most likely the latter) or both, this was the only flaw for me that holds it down a little.
One note, Tim Burton didn't write this (nor did he write the original). I agree with your points on the issues with the story but just wanted to clarify that although Burton has a hand in how the story is portrayed on screen, the actual plot wasn't his.
Oh now I want see this in the theater!
