In 2001 Robin Williams was invited to meet Koko the Gorilla who is fluent in American Sign Language
Robin Williams made Koko the Gorilla laugh for the first time in 6 months after the death of her childhood playmate Gorilla. When Koko was told of Robin Williams' death in 2014, she reportedly signed, "cry."
The late Robin Williams came to meet Koko and they had an extraordinary interaction. Both laughed uncontrollably, and Koko for the first time in many months since her best Gorilla friend, Michael, passed away. When Koko heard of Robin's passing in 2014, she became very sad for a long time.
𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐨 "Koko" July 4, 1971 - June 19, 2018, was a female western lowland Gorilla. Koko was born at San Francisco Zoo and lived most of her life at The Gorilla Foundation's preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The name "Hanabiko" means ‘'Fireworks Child'' and is of Japanese origin.
Koko died in her sleep during the morning of June 19, 2018, at the Gorilla Foundation's preserve in Woodside, California, at the age of 46. Here last words in Sign Language were
“Help Earth. Hurry!”
Robin Williams Died on August 11, 2014, in Paradise Cay, California. Животные
Whatever there is in the afterlife, I'd love to think these 2 friends are together and making each other laugh.
They Sure do!
Michael also plays with Koko from time to time
He made the gorilla laugh! What an amazing human being he was.
Still miss Robin today.. it's sad when someone has depression that bad, that you can help everyone else laugh and be in the moment to have a good time but yet unable to feel that for yourself, in the video w koko when she hugged him, you got to see a moment that he felt loved a true smile from a deep place .. Many ask themselves what could we have done so this person doesn't feel the pains of depression. .I think we as a whole society need to practice more kindness, practice more sincerity, give those around us more of a feeling of security, & that we have a sense of belonging & being & with meaningful purposes . .Robin definitely gave it to us. We should also learn how to give to others . Rip Robin, Anthony, & KOKO & countless others not mentioned. Spreading hugs & smiles & sprinkles of sunshine happiness to all..
I love that man and the gorilla❤
@@susanwest8239 Robin & Koko... So loveable for sure
@@kimberluna2226 I still miss Robin, too. Like Koko, I cried and felt very sad for a long time...
@@kasday369 Love can be beautiful. Something that's not meant to be taken for granted .. My tears today represent the beauty of that Love being expressed between the 2... I think everyone wants to be Loved in this world. ... For me "Love" is everything.... .Peace 2 all......
Koko asking much more than tickle. They showed Koko videos of him to her as a comedian and she recognized him. She wanted him to make her laugh. She knew the correlation between the two concepts. That’s frigging deep.
You TOTALLY nailed it with your reply! 👏 👏
So glad Robin found a few moments of joy through unconditional love of an animal.
I didn't know Gorillas could smile.. she was smiling with her mouth open.. 😃
It's like watching two kids from different countries play together! great!
It hurts knowing both Koko and Robin are gone yet seeing how both got along as if they were old friends gives some comfort.
They are both with Jesus now.
Koko The Gorilla and Robin Williams will be missed, but not forgotten.
@@SmokeyMcb perhaps Robin is, but animals have no religion.
@@lisanidog8178 well they are somewhere where ever and what ever they really are.
@@CrazyGaming-ig6qq yup.
How are you doing ? have you got over your sadness yet ??
I miss Robin. RIP to him and to Koko as well.
almost 9 years since he passed. Gorillas are amazing souls.
I would have done anything to have been able to have met Koko . The emotions s that she shows is so amazing and beautiful
Me also
This made me cry. The connection Koko had right off the bat. She was so genuine and loved Robin and you can see the love in his eyes for Koko. Beautiful! Huge loss for the world to lose them both. 😢❤
Hello how are you doing today 😊
@@helenarusso good thank you
@@helenarusso how are you
Was it necessary for them to tell Koko about Robin? He made her feel good after her gorilla friend passed.
@@billrobbins5874Koko gave us the gift of a rare opportunity to gain information about how an individual of another species thinks and feels.
Animals experience a lot of death and Koko was an adult in her 40s, an elder.
So telling her about this loss both furthered our understanding and was kinder than having her find out by accident.
It's also possible that Penny and others were very sad and Koko asked why.
But I feel very sad that she experienced grief, as so many did when Robin died, and also when her cat, All Ball, died. Thank goodness she did not go through the loss of Penny.
May Robin and KoKo rest in peace...and may Penny continue to find comfort from the loss of her friend and may their cats feel comfort too.
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in a while
I don’t think robin ever seen himself as great, it rips my heart out.
To think that such a stunning actor who was so funny, died that way. Sometimes one doesn't think that the guy in the funny movies is aching inside. What was touching is that Koko mourned him. Perhaps she had a sense -- what a priceless meeting between these two. The fact that he made even her laugh, is even more saddening. RIP to both of you 😢
Honestly, watching this video and knowing how things turned out later just fills my heart with sorrow. Both of them were incredible, true credits to their respective species.
A little laughter left this earth when we all lost him...
I sobbed for days after Robin Williams passed away. He had been my all time favourite comedian. I was also quite inconsolable when Koko passed too. I had followed her story since she was first introduced to the world. The world is a little less bright since their passing. I only hope they are together and tickling each other once again somewhere in the great beyond.❤
Robin could make anyone laugh. So, yes, Koko laughed too. RIP you two.❤❤
I love animals of all kinds.
It's an honor for a gorilla can have feelings for a person. She was so special!
Their making each other laugh in heaven. RIP to both loving souls. Tickle her for me!
Robin was able to turn his experience into comedy later which proves what genius he was.
RIP Koko, and Robin~you both brought love to the world.
What a delightful bridge crossed between human and animal.
Robin was a great actor comedian. Miss him.
I followed Koko for years. I'll never forget her trainer talking about taking Koko to NY City once to appear on a TV show. Koko had never seen a horse before, and she and her trainer came across a horse drawn carriage that you pay to take rides in there. Koko noticed the bridle with the bit in the horses' mouth, and signed to her trainer "hurt mouth."
It angers me when humans say about any animal, things like, "Oh, They Are Just Dumb Animals."
No animals are dumb! They all have a level of intelligence. Have you ever seen an Octopus put inside of a jar with a screw-on lid? It only takes seconds for the Octopus to figure out how to get the lid off, by un-screwing the lid, or one which is crammed into underwater rocks when a shark is trying to pull it out? The Octopus knows that by putting its' tentacles inside of the sharks gills, the shark cannot breathe, and will back off and swim away from the Octopus! That's just one marine animal. All animals are intelligent.
The only animals who's intelligence is questionable, is us.
You said it right
It’s interesting how one intelligent being is automatically attracted to another. Rest In Peace Koko and Robin. You’ll both be loved and cherished forever.
It's so nice seeing Robin authentically joyful.
She was extraordinary, as are all gorillas. Robin Williams was also an extraordinary, gifted, kind man.
Gorillas still desperately need our help, especially Cross River, Mountain, as well as Eastern and Western Lowland gorillas. I'm thankful for the worldwide breeding programs helping the Eastern and Western Lowland gorillas, as they are able to completely stop bushmeat hunting and inbreeding due to low populations, but in comparison, Mountain gorillas do not tolerate captivity bc of the climate and altitude they are use to (same for Cross River gorillas, except they also need large expanses of dense forest bc of their size), and both subspecies of gorilla reproduce much slower than the E & W Lowland gorillas.
If anyone could make a gorilla laugh it certainly was our beloved Robin Williams. 🙏 Primates are very smart so when Koko learned of Robin's passing it didn't surprise me that she not only became extremely quiet but signed the word "cry" as in sad emotions. They passed away 4 years apart.
"Somewhere, over the rainbow...gorillas cry!!!...God bless you Robin, you are dearly missed...and to you Koko, we say...nanu nanu..."
Oh my, Robin Williams made us laugh through so many of his movies. He reminds me of the old adage - laugh,
and the world laughs with you - cry, and you cry alone. RIP Robin & Koko Xx 💋 two dear, sweet souls who shone
for a while, then were gone.
R.I.P. Robin and Koko
Koko felt Robin cuz he was such a golden hearted and kind human being RIP
He had a giant heart.
we love you robin williams
I cannot tell you how joyful this video makes my soul...watching these two beautiful souls.
I miss them both. They taught us so much... I heard you Robin 😔
I hope they met up again in their afterlife
So beautiful the connection of two souls. Made me cry
Heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same damn time🥲😥
My goodness, what a hairy beast that is! The gorilla is also hairy.
In all seriousness, RIP to both these kind souls.
RIP KOKO and ROBIN... the world will never be the same without you.
I miss that man so much.
I'm in tears watching this, knowing how it feels when a treasured loved one passes away. To watch someone whom was tormented with this world and animal taken away from where she belonged in the wild. Come together in pure unconditional joy and happiness just to be there in that moment of time. They will meet again, I say once more on the other side. Without a doubt. Sadly missed always treasured.❤❤
Bless both their hearts 🥰.
It was such a joy 🥲 and blessing to see them together laughing 😂.
R.I.P. Robin 🎭
R.I.P. Koko 🦍
🙏🏽😇❌🤣🥲
Robin continues to amaze me with his ability to connect with others thru laughter.
😢 Two extraordinary creatures that were so sad and lonely, even when surrounded by people and creatures who loved them. Very special, both of them.
Rest in paradise robin and koko. 🌺
😊 how sad but sweet too. They both made each other happy. This is life. He is really missed in life. 😢😢😢😢
Seeing and hearing Robin smile and laugh like that you can tell they had a real connection and made HIM feel happy.
I miss Robin.
Robin you were amazing. But you live forever in film.
Damn this made me cry. That ply for help at the end should send chills to the world.
Robin Williams & Koko- what kind, gentle and sweet souls, I love seeing this start of a friendship, I hope they found each other. ❤❤
so amzing that koko could be fluent in sign language .. wow
R.I.P, Robin and Koko, both, great legends of old.
They're together in heaven, enjoying each other's amazing personalities!.
What a beautiful connection. They looked so happy. Sorry they are both left us. But always will remember Robin and Koko. Thank you Robin for all your talents and your positive energy. You always will stay in our hearts. RIP.
I love KOKO she is beautiful so sad she did not have a baby of her own.
Rest in peace Robin and Koko...I cried when she died...
nearly 10 years and Robin still making people laugh
I always love Robin what a great loss! I never cried so hard. Koko and Robin are together now happy and laughing i pray. A great guy that no one could help i never will understand never!
Thank you for showing this. The world is a lesser place with them both gone!
How profound their meeting & connections was!
Omg I haven't laughed this hard in along time. Thank you for sharing this sweet moment.
I loved the fact you put the song "sadness and sorrow" from Naruto. ❤
Coco suffered so many of her friends passing away.
One of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen. These 2 were a match in heaven.
What an incredible meeting! Both Robin and Koko will be missed for all eternity, R.I.P.
It's incredible how much mammals can learn.
Wonderful video.🤣🤣🤣💖💖💖🦥🦥
Koko was the finest example of communication with another intelligence than a human.
And on our level of perception.
So very profound.
What a beautiful amazing animal , she’s full of love . I’m tearing up just watching her
It touched me so much I wanted to cry. What a shame that whether its drugs or severe depression or both that the mind thinks such terrible things about ourselves that we no longer can live with yourself is the biggest shame I know. I'm an addict myself who suffers with depression. But its never taken me to the point where I'd kill myself. Life is still worth living and believe me, Ive been through hell and lost everything and everyone. Thank God my son has come around lately and still loves me and remembers the good things in his childhood. We'll always miss Robin Williams and grateful his movies and a video like this exists. Rest in peace finally...
Robin was an amazing man! I can't believe how much talent can be in one person! God bless you Robin and Koko there was the same amazing energy that was shared ❤
Seeing an animal communicate with a human is crazy😔🔥
It’s sad to know that they are both gone, but fills me with faith that they are both reunited. I didn’t know much about koko but I grew up with robin williams, I got to guard him a few times. He was down to earth and friendly. He was the kind of celebrity that you wanted a job for… for the most part, he made the job hard because he was always full of jokes and we were always laughing. I always felt a dark side in him same as troops I served with but I never thought that! I was a great honor to work for him if only temporarily. Never asked for an autograph I was just happy to be in his presence for the short time I was. When it happened I took a week off , my childhood growing up and even as an adult, I’d known him since I was 5 … it hurt
I love Koko...
This is so much fun to watch.❤😂
I don't have anymore tears for this.....
What an experience for both of them. 2 souls unite. ❤️💛💚
What a profound moment. It would have made my entire life!!
Robin Williams touched so many people's lives. Even this Beautiful 🦍Gorilla🦍 loved him. He was such an amazing person it is really sad that inside Robin Williams wasn't as happy as he made all of the people who adored him. They say animals can sense good and bad in people and Koko immediately felt a love and friendship with Robin Williams. She felt his heart, his love, and how genuine of a person he was. When you lose someone it hurts, it hurts bad, but when that person has so much to offer and give and he himself cannot see it, that makes it even more painful.
Too sweet - both of them 🥺😘
Both were awesome people.
I have no words. ✌
I'm SO glad that they were able to meet each other!! Two of my favorite sentient beings! 🥰
I think Koko was intrigued by Robin's body hair. Seriously, though, it was wonderful to see them connect, laugh, and bring each other joy.
Penny was smart to bring them together at a sad time in Koko's life after she lost Michael.
And Robin made me laugh so much with his routine about lifting the shirt. 🤎🖤
Robin made her happy for the first time in many months. Koko had not laughed or smiled since her best friend had died... her first kitten was hit by a car... Koko was numb until Robin came to visit.
Both are treasures. Lost to the ever charging, tragedy of life.
Both are missed more than they will ever know.
Or, maybe now they know...?
What a classic. Hope Robin And Koko meet up again.
Amazing video. Two amazing souls!
its sad how robin looked happy but really was a sad depressed soil
Amazing. Robin could even make a gorilla laugh!
How wonderful Koko was. Sadly missed. RIP
You touched my heartstrings…
Really lovable!
I love to watch this video.
That is so awesome life can be so special can't it. Will miss both❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rest in peace Robin
Miss you both
What an amazing and moving video.
