    Caring a lot about how things look is my favourite way to play Minecraft. It’s especially enjoyable when you do it in survival because figuring out what materials to use and where you’ll get them becomes this really unique logistics game. I’m glad Lewis has discovered this way of playing.

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 28 дней назад +3

      Caring about the aesthetics is like taking care of your personal appearance. It just makes you feel better. Having a random shack of just 4 walls and a roof is boring and makes you not really invested in what you're playing. As for using survival, I never really build in survival. I build out of local materials and/or themed materials that are easy to get. Anything that's hard to get I go get myself then build creatively with it. I wouldn't really say building in survival creates a logistics game because you don't typically need a whole lot of anything. The main logistics in modded MC is ore and plants. That's why I love the trains with Create but there's very little reason to use them because everything in Minecraft is easily accessible or not accessible by train.. I think TerraFirmaCraft is a great example of a mod though that would do well with trains because ore is very hard to find but comes in massive veins in different parts of the world. SevTech is a similar idea.

    • @Haxicab
      @Haxicab 28 дней назад +1

      I love it too. It gives me goals to work towards rather than having a complete open sandbox with no direction. I can decide on the aesthetic of my base and go from there! That's also probably why I've never ended up beating Minecraft...

      I know, it's the stone generator I'm mainly having a gripe with tbh, I don't like conjuring stone and other things from nothing. If I need a lot of stone, I want to build a hammer, or a drill, or a quarry.
      Of course when they made an automated iron source, the main way you gather stone in MC just went right out the window, since they don't need to strip-mine for iron.
      I guess this ideology comes from always having getting stone then I ever needed when gathering resources, and when you do it like that, you find these other resources you didn't even think were there, like for example, calcite, black stone, the create ore veins that have azurine. Just exploring and finding and overall, adventuring around, they're skipping over everything I love about this game and these mods.

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 28 дней назад +4

      @@MrCunningham4 The iron farm is really slow actually but they left the server running so it just got basically an infinite amount of iron.
      I can understand what you mean to an extent, but having just a cobble gen or iron farm doesn't mean suddenly they don't explore or go mining whatsoever. They still need to find gold, iron, redstone, etc.
      Like you said though, I've never once built a cobble generator outside of a skyblock.. I don't have a need for a lot of cobble or even smooth stone. When I do need it, I only need a stack or two which I likely already have just from playing.

    I think it's really funny that Lewis decided to build the aqueduct off of where they _happened to have placed_ the water
    Instead of building the aqueduct from a mountain that would be "lore sensible" and then choosing a chunk for the water wheels based on that.

    This should lead into a sub plot where sips and Simon take issue with a teams practices and start a rival Jaffa factory.
    This will all lead up to some catyclysm that results in a portal which transports them to the world of israphel.
    I hold out hope.

    You can use vertical belts to carry power up and down with the same rotation and orientation. Its easier then gearboxes. Also with dye you can color a belt so you can make the "power belts" red. And it will look nicer

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 28 дней назад

      Use an encased chain drive instead of a belt. Belts cause lag and don't look as good. Plus with a chain drive you can pass horizontal and vertical through the same block.

    • @Zyrdalf
      @Zyrdalf 27 дней назад

      Or they could just make two 90° turns before the gearboxes and all the gearboxes would line up and work fine probably. They would be alternating directions but I think that is fine…

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 27 дней назад

      @@Zyrdalf The direction will matter for the fans if they want them to blow. Rotation direction doesn't matter for drills though. The best thing to do would be, as I said, to use the encased chain drives.

    Duncan needs to learn about The backwards waterlogged stair trick. It will save him so much pain with waterflow and its a smaller set up.
    For reference: one block of lava, air, L waterlogged step.
    (The L is the direction in relation to the lava)

  • @idkcriz

    if you waterlog a stair block with the back facing the lava you can the cobble gen 3 blocks :)

  • @Caldoric
    @Caldoric 25 дней назад

    You can definitely do a cobble gen in 3 blocks... Just have the water flow straight down one block into a catch hole (not sideways), then have the lava flow sideways into the middle. Simple as.

  • @Peekofwar
    @Peekofwar 18 дней назад +1

    I think it would've worked better if you had the fans pull instead, since it would mean the items would continue to be pulled onto the belt even once the block is regenerated. Thus ensuring it makes it onto the belt. I'm sure they'll make their current setup work regardless.

    You can increase your water wheel speed and power when more flowing water blocks cover it. The current config of the water just flowing vertically is inefficient :)

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 28 дней назад

      That got changed in 0.5.1 The water wheel doesn't have variable power anymore. As long as it has water flow going in one direction it provides rotational force now. Their issue is they don't bother to really pay attention to stress and RPM. The large water wheels have a lower RPM meaning it doesn't really go as fast but has a higher stress capacity. It's meant to power a larger factory at slower speeds essentially. While a small water wheel will power things at a faster speed but lower capacity. Duncan's used to things being direct upgrades but Create doesn't do that. All 3 types of generation (water, wind, or steam) are all side grades with different pros and cons. You're meant to use what fits your needs.
