Awe! My grandpa used to have a 49 chevy with a wooden flat bed. About 6 of the grandkids would sit in the back while he drove us to see the cows. Amazing!
I never tire of seeing what old vehicle you drag home! Since pickup trucks filled with seasonal items (pumpkins, Christmas trees) are still really popular, this will be lots of fun! Hope you make a T shirt or throw pillow cover with this pickup on it after you "style it". thanks
We can’t explain it but your videos ALWAYS seem to catch our attention! You always seem so positive plus you are married to the right girl!😃 Your friend Dale is amazing!
Wow what memories this brings! My first car was a barn find. 1954 Chevy four speed automatic 5 window pickup deluxe model. It had a clock, radio and not one but two cigarette lighters. First year without a split front windshield. Loved that thing. Wish I had it now for hauling garden plants, soil and bark dust. My dad moved it to the backyard in the city from a friends farm. It sat for a while there until he got tired of mom fussing at him about it sitting. He then gave it me to work on and get it running. Please Alex fix it up and use it for your business. It will serve as a great advertisement for your shop.
Parades. Hadn't thought of that. Great idea. Here where I live an antique shop did what he plans on doing. The truck sat there for years. Eventually the windows got broken out, the body continued to deteriorate. It became an eyesore. Such a sad end to what was really a piece of art.
I helped my Daddy restore one of these when I was a kid. He ended up painting it a light powder blue with a bit of metallic in it. Chromed everything else. Oh it was beautiful. Looking forward to seeing this completed. Thank you for sharing ♥♥♥
Yes that is a beauty for sure!! I too can't wait to see what you come up with Alex...I know it will be awesome whatever you do! That was a fun trip to the country, thanks so much for taking us with you!
If you can get it to work it would be great for picking and you also have decor for the front of your store when not in use. Cool truck. Keep Safe❤Keep well❤
Alex ! I love that old truck . Wishing you will restore it and make it far more than a flower box in front of your store . Best regards from Ontario . John
Get it running, fix the bed and interior. Put your logo on the doors. Would be something to get your larger picks back to the shop. Also when not in use park in front.
My thoughts exactly! Use it for bigger hauls, mobile advertising and could still be parked at the front of the store when not in use. Doesn't look like it would take that much to get it drivable/useable.
@@BAtadCrazy My thoughts exactly. Instead of just a display. It would be the most awesome painted the store colors with logo and used for picking and also when parked in front would be terrific advertising. Pretty sure could be in running condition with not too much work.
And if he really wants some flowers in it, he could probably make some easily removable flower boxes to set in the bed or where ever he wants them. Then if he needed flowers somewhere else, he can just grab the boxes and move them there.
Well Alex, when one project gets slowed down for awhile, just start a few other projects! LOL That is a great truck. I will be watching to see how you fix this old truck up. What fun! Not only that, but this was the 2nd video of the day! WOW. I love it. Just what I needed today. Thanks Alex!
shame to waste it it dont look like it would take much to get it back on the road and it could be your shop truck for collection your items with would look great
I think that may have been a pickup which was turned into a flatbed for farm use. There is a guy who specializes in old Chevy/GM trucks in Oregon who has a You Tube channel called Classic Truck Rescue. He's got lots of parts available for sale and is quite knowledgeable. You could easily use this truck for picking.
I have a feeling, all of this is going to work in your favor. We had a local garden center, took a VW bug, gutted it, painted it all kinds of colors, and then planted it up! Flowers were growing all over it! They had it right by the road. Great eye catcher! I like everyone’s suggestion to restore and use the truck. It’s too purdy to be just a flower pot. But you know what you’re doing...you’re a smart businessman!
. This truck is awesome. The paint has a beautiful patina. It's from the year of my birth. I would so much enjoy cruising down the road in this. My last pickup was a baby blue, '65 Chevy step side. A semi dump truck with no brakes totaled it. My son-in-law was borrowing it at the time, and he miraculously survived the crash. Looking forward to seeing it running and spicced up a bit. :-)
Yes! I put in my own comment (before seeing yours) that it looked great out of the carwash & maybe just give it a clear-coat to protect the current patina, if not too cost-prohibitive. Colors coordinate well with the outside murals.
I love that old truck and hope you will get it running again. Won't run 65 on the hwy but would make for a great work truck. If I bought it I would restore it.
That is a pretty cool "ornament" for your shop! You'll surely have fun changing out the "cargo", seasonally. I can picture it at Christmas with a tree in the back. Awesome idea to add this to your ambiance!
Hey, buddy, you are really blessed with all the good things that you find and the positive things you encounter. There are always a few problems down the road but you are truly blessed!!!
@@sand3882 yes, I'm sure I have heard them talking about it before. I think they were a actually asked to be a televised show and they turned it down for the very reason you stated. He wants to do what he wants when he wants and not tied down to other people calling the shots. He has experience in the film industry his self.
Wow, Alex, this old truck brings back memories. My husband and I restored a 1954 Chevy truck many years ago. I enjoyed the hunt for "baby moon" hubcaps and other parts. I used the truck to take my kids to school. It ran perfectly! I loved the old truck and was sad that we had to sell it when my husband got sick. I am happy to see your old truck being revived! Later gator!
Alex, my vehicle in my teens in the 1960s was a 1948 Chevrolet pick up truck. I completely rebuilt the truck in shop class, did a classic black paint job. Inside however, I replaced the headliner with an angora wool type of material. The floorboards were covered in the same, long fiber material. The foot pedals were enhanced with those Crome and black feet type things including the dimmer switch. The shift knob was replaced with an Eight Ball. The exhaust was channeled through a double stack semi chrome affair. On the back window I had a couple of Playboy Bunny stickers that bracketed lettering that said: “U S Male”. It was a cool truck to ride around in but not really much of a date vehicle. STP stickers adorned the dash as well. STP was very popular in the sixties and those stickers were everywhere.
Looks a lot like a '51 Chevy my father used to have. He put a cattle rack on the back and took us seven kids for rides every Sunday afternoon. A Moon Pie and Brownie Chocolate Soda each and we were in 7th heaven! Those were the days!
I've been your subscriber for a long time. ❤ all of your videos, you have an amazing shop and love when you get old stuff to display, truck is so beautiful loving the patina. Can't wait to 👀 see it displayed. Thanks for sharing. Hugs from California
Thanks for the memories, My Dad was the service manager for the local IH farm equipment dealer and used a similar truck with the regular steel box for service calls to the farm. Hadn't thought about that old truck for a long time.
That truck looks to me to have a PTO control on the dashboard. Use it for either a front or rear winch or possibly a crane on the rear deck. BIG BONUS ! Nice truck cab. Keep us posted. I. Sure your carpenter could fabricate a nice side for your bed with advertising carved into it!
Love this adventure. What a sweetheart Dale is. I hope some wonderful woman is spoiling him rotten. He will remain your friend because I think he enjoys a good adventure too.
Alex I just watched Rick at classic truck rescue attend an auction, and someone bought a bunch of those trucks that were nearly rot free just to crush. It broke my heart! You should check out that video.
It needs some TLC, but looks like it’s a solid truck. Get it running, get brakes, tires, electrical sorted out. Have Josh/Jakota build a tasteful bed for it, and the doors hand lettered. It’ll be the shop’s equivalent to Sanford And Son’s truck!
Your friend Dale was a great help, luckily you both managed to get it home. I'm glad you cleaned first. Great find! Good luck whatever you do with it. I enjoy watching escapades It's like I am there too.
Another great rescue Alex with Dale this time, what a friendly guy he is and another new friend..bonus..such a lovely old truck which so many of us are looking forward to seeing restored a little as store decor..I bet the little local kids are going to want to get inside for their pretend driving.
UHHH! RESTORE IT, LOOKS SO COOL . YOU DO SUCH GOOD JOB ON CARS. AN IT IS STILL A GOOD HALL AN WORK TRUCK. A FLOWER POT, YOU'LL HERT THE TRUCKS FEELINGS. IT COULD BE SO MUCH MORE . NICE TRUCK . MUCH LOV

if it were mine, I'd leave the patina look, that old paint gives it some some character, and build a new wooden box. It deserves to be more than just a display piece.

I'm a truck person..so yes.. loving it....happy you rescued it Alex!!😁👏
Thank you , Alex, for finding and saving this wonderful, old truck. I'm so happy it now has a good home. It will be a great mascot for your store.
A 5 window! Great find. Would love to see it on the road, but yes, it would look good just for show.
Paint it to match the shop, rebuild the bed and slap a logo on the door and you got a good picking ride.
PERFECT !!! 😎
I say leave that patina alone. Don’t touch the paint.
Very good idea!!!!👍
@@Chrisb8s me too - that patina is what makes the truck!

Oh wow!! I hope you fix it up and build a beauty cargo box for the back!! The patina on the truck is amazing!
This made me smile! It’s so cathartic watching you rescue these poor automobiles.😉
