Since my brutal cancer treatments 12 years ago took away a lot of my executive function, I have to have the help of a professional organizer to sort, discard, donate, and file away things in order to keep my house shovelled out. It's been very humbling, to say the least! However, it's fun to watch you and your wonderful family work together to get these tough jobs done! I enjoy all your vids, but my favorite is still the series I saw first: the artist' hoarded house! When I think of how you saved not only the house from being burned down by the local firemen doing a traing exercise, but also all her fabulous works of art, her equipment, and her wonderful legacy, I breathe the most thankful sigh of relief! I really feel like you are doing the important work that God gave you and your family to do! God bless you all... and a very Merry Christmas!

Same. Storage lockers are such a waste of money. Sometimes they have their reason or purpose. That aside, think of it this way: What do you value more? Stuff? Or the money you spend on not even having that stuff? IE: if you have clothes in storage that you're not using, but you're spending money every month to keep them in a unit so you can continue not using them, you're wasting money on stuff. You'd save money by letting it go. (Again, sometimes there are exigent circumstances, but I've been working on two houses with excess items and after a while, all I see is money wasted to pile up more junk in a corner or closet.)
@@kellyngrey4950 Thank you for your comment! Just this morning, I was expressing the same sentiments to my husband. He has been pondering getting a storage unit to keep some vehicles (non-running) and things he's been storing in his shop/classroom at the college where he works as an automotive professor. The college built a brand new building for the auto shop classes, and they are in the process of moving everything over to the new location this week. But my hubby doesn't think he can store his vehicles and other personal items in the new location. I showed your comment to my hubby. Deep down, he agrees it's a waste of money. But it's so hard for him to get rid of stuff.
Yay, Eternal Christmas! But seriously though, this is one of the reasons I like volunteering for a local art reuse charity. We save stuff from the landfill, and sell the items at the cost of running the store (stuff like staff wages, the commercial lease, utilities, supplies, etc). I'm a fabric and cool rock expert there, and people will just donate super awesome stuff. I got 4 yards of deep green silk velvet there for just $32 US dollars, and someone donated, no joke, 10 grand (US) worth of faceted gemstones. No diamonds, but there were things like grade 1 emeralds and black fire opals in there
His daughter (wife and son too) being able to find good high-quality name brand clothes (for free)and NOT having to pay retail. Huge instant savings. I buy units and I havn't bought clothes or shoes for years now. Better name brands than if I went shopping myself.
This is how I get my fix in between estate sale set ups here in Texas. I've been watching since Covid. Love the show and I learn alot from you Alex. Thank you

Quite the mix of prized or special items with the more mundane. This is a good example of how neatly organized storage can easily devolve into chaos. Thanks for sharing.
Pretty good unit, at least the clothes and all looked pretty clean. I like that it's a family thing with all of you getting into it. Your kids will understand the real value of things from all of this, which is rare these days. Thanks for the videos, great job !
Finding money is always good. I remember last year I had a small $50 5x5 easy cleanout and found single $100 bill, and new America Express $50 gift card. (Instant cash ) The $40 unit I cleaned out last week had ' some ' loose change in a small purse. You usually get pennies but there was lots of silver coin. $65 in a $40 Unit. I saw 3 10 gallon Home Depot Igloo water coolers in pics on top... but there were 2 rows of them underneath.. 12 total ! 2 large folding tables for flea market 5 smaller 4 ft(folding 2x2's) and 10x10 pop canopys which will all sell. $25 Profit before I sell 1 item. And the 2 small dressers with toddler/baby clothes went to Church donations. Good unit with literally no trash

Yeah I appreciate having two arms. Just having one is so frustrating and watching this video proves it.
I enjoyed the last storage unit you cleared out. I am looking forward to see what you find in this one. I am always surprised that people store all their stuff in a storage unit & pay for it to be stored..& then don’t want to take to back…when they can’t afford to pay for the storage anymore & just abandon it. 😳😮 Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍😊
Thank you Alex for your energy, enthusiasm and huge heart! After five months in hospital, I discovered just how little I require, and how limiting too much ‘stuff’ can make you feel. I’m gradually auctioning off all sorts of things, and the proceeds will go to redecorating. A ‘win win’ situation! Sending greetings to all the Archbold family!
I have that same harvest gold mixer. I got it at a garage sale 25 years ago. It's a work horse! Unlike the cheap ones made today. Nice haul! I'm glad that Melissa and Abigail found some stuff too. Thank you Alex.
I'm a year older than Alex and my mom had that same mixer. So many of the things he remembers from his childhood mirror my own childhood memories, despite living in two different counties (US and Canada).
I love your one handed videos when you are on site no phoney set ups. You always teach me something new with every video. Good that your family is always there to help you. I use to volunteer at place and for me it was like Christmas opening the boxes and bags. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Same. It hits different when he clears out storage units, knowing the owners may have come on hard financial times, moved away, entered a resting/retirement home, fallen ill, been hospitalized, taken their own life, or passed away with nobody to claim their property.

I value the empty Makita toolbox! As a retired tradesman, I detest the bulky blow-molded tool cases they have been making for the last 25 years. They take up twice the space in your garage, truck, shop, etc., and give you only half the interior storage space. If I have to buy a tool with a blow-molded case, I quickly dump it and make a 3/8" plywood case.
Another real good storage unit, some high end clothes/tools/electronics all of which your family will put to use, all kinds of resalable goods, I'll say you got your money out of this unit, back to back scores for the curiosity gang, so merry Christmas to the family and to all of your subscribers.

Hi Wow, nice locker! I wouldn't mind one of those...doubt if I'd ever pay $700 for one but maybe a couple hundred. I just don't have the blind faith for it nor the help to get things moved, or place to store things. I do sell things on ebay and I do sell a lot of clothing. I would stick to a 4.5 lb box just for the shipping cost. Some people when their relationship breaks down and they have to move on. They’ll take what’s theirs and place them into storage. If the relationship was really bad they want to just move on leave everything behind. My brother in-law was like that. Whenever he moved, he’d always left all his stuff behind. No matter what it was. Once he left a quad bike and many times his second vehicle. Then he’d just get new stuff.
