I said this on Peter Finch's reveal video. I honestly think we are pretty much there with the distance on this current generation of drivers. Unless the USGA/R&A change their rules concerning driver performance then we won't see much more distance gains. But what drivers are doing is going the Ping G425 route and making their drivers more and more forgiving which is a big thing. Even Tour level drivers are becoming easier to hit and more forgiving of mistakes off the face. Add this to the distance gained and you are getting clubs that perform as well as the best drivers but hittable by mere mortals. I may never hit it 300 again (I'm 55) but I will have better scores and fewer lost golfballs off the tee. And isn't better scores the ultimate goal of buying a club?

Not to be disrespectful… but this is the kind of guy the majority of people need to watch… a guy with a somewhat human swing speed… not some guy with a 125mph swing speed carrying the ball 330+… wondering which club is better…
The average golfer gets nothing from those other videos. Fun to watch, yes… but useless for the mass market golfer… definitely subbing

Ive never tried the 905, but the TS series is some of the best clubs ever made imo. I have the TSR driver, but still keep the TS 3 FW because it's by far the best fairway wood I've ever hit. There's really not much difference between the TSR & TS driver

  • @91scalloped

I am so interested in the fact that you would take the tsr over the tsi. I’m a t3, and tsi3 owner and the adjustment features and consistency in the speed off the face of the tsi3 over the 2 always drove me to the t3 and tsi3. So, now that you and everyone else is saying so heavily that the tsr2 is better than the 3. I have yet to hit it but it so very much intrigues me.

    • @andycartergolf

The face is better for inconsistent hits! Meaning the ball speed and therefore distance was less variable.

@@andycartergolf if you can pick up free yardage and get the desired ball flight, I think one would be dense not to switch. I loved the first taylormade sim because of the huge gains I got over all the other drivers but the consistency of the Titleist just won out for me. I went from a taylormade r1 to sim and then have had consistently Titleist irons, woods, and drivers in the bag. I just went to the t100s and just love them. I think the new driver is finally available to hit in my local store so I can’t wait to see the fitted numbers difference. Being 6’5 almost true 6’6 I got 1.5” extension in irons and driver. Slower driver speeds great carry. My irons are also heavier shafts. But I hit my 60 wedge 155and pw 187. Lot of body mass to swing around.

Tried the tsr2 today it's ball speed is definitely not faster than my stealth. But the launch and spin was in such a better window if I hit a high toe with the stealth the spin is just too low. Where if I hit the high toe with the tsr2 the spin was in the 1700's and the carry and shot shape was really usable it kept within a decent size fairway and still had great launch and distance. It was impressive. But definitely not a faster ball speed I was averaging 152mph with tsr2 with highest I saw was 157 but my stealth I can easily get 155-157 and with a real push I've seen 168-170's

I’m curious, if I post a video of my swing with driver (with slow motion if preferred) in front of me and the same behind myself? Just for a few pointers.
I don’t know if that is something you do?
I just don’t develop respectable distance with my driver.
I was an extremely handsy swinger of the golf ball and went for lessons to get a fix, if there even could be a fix, and got a lot of really good info.
I learned I didn’t engage and turn my hips at all and the teacher had me swing my hips first to pull my arms down. Now, during the first two lessons, I cranked the driver from the end, where we were doing the lessons, to the end of the range where people were hitting, yikes. Needless to say, I was crushing my driver and not swinging that hard to get great results. Problems was I could never get that same distance and consistent control on the course without the teacher.
I’ve been told time and time again I have a pretty solid fundamental swing but I just don’t get everything out of it; I think my weight distribution and my legs is my weakness.
Just wandering if I posted a driver video I’d you’d be willing to critique and some advice on my errors?
No hard feelings if no; I just had to ask. I truly love and understand your teaching method better than any golfer on the internet and RUclips.
    Cheers mate.

Great video. But no f***ing way am I paying £529 for a golf driver. What a joke. You can buy a decent full set from our friends at Golfbidder for that price. My 16 year old son hits his second hand 917D3 over 320 yards. Technical advances only give marginal gains these days. Ben Hogan said it many times this is a game of timing, get that right and the speed comes naturally.

  • @91scalloped
    @91scalloped 2 года назад

I’d love to see an uncapping of the distances these driver companies have and just let them open the door to drivers blowing normal yds in non-pga pro hands. If they want to cap the sports pros, their business, but Let the public get those handicap reducers. I don’t think the cap of distance is really needed. The distance can always lead to more problems with accuracy control, so let him have at it. But there seniors, a lot of amateurs, and ladies who could benefit from uncapping the true capabilities of these clubs.
I typically hit my driver 300-320yds and that works for me but my friend, who is very athletic for his age has simply lost 50 or so yds do to age and back problems. For people like that, I think it would be a good thing.

I would love to come to England for a month and play all those wonderful courses you have played. Suggestion have you, Peter, Rick and Matt play 36 holes for your favorite charity. Have the viewers donate money and the winner gets 50%, second get 30%, third gets 20% and 4th get 10% for their charity or some version of that but what's important is getting the views to be able to contribute to the charity. You could always make it a team event. I realize the difficulty of having money involved and it being safe and legit. But it would be interesting and to see if set up for a 2-day match would be exciting. Maybe have more than 4 players maybe 8. You could call it the RUclips English Golfer of the year tournament. Who knows maybe down the road invite folks for America and other countries to join. God bless Andy Carter and go low.
