They could try, for example, just once, to write an AI that is actually "Intelligent", not coming up with these stupid reasons to destroy humanity. @@charlespanache7047 100iq take. People are just creatively bankrupt. Before you say anything, yes I am working on an original scifi project that hasn't been made before that I hope will be good. It just takes coming up with one or two cool novel concepts and you can start building something pretty easily from there. The first steps are always the hardest.
@charlespanache7047 there should be a movie which tells the story of an all powerful AI, powerful enough to end the world. But the AI isn't the problem, the people are. Utilizing the AI for evil rather than good, which could easily be done. Could be the movie that's like " this is what could be the next couple years" maybe.

@Bregzter Granted I still need to watch the other Gundam Anime like Turn A Gundam, Gundam Seed, Gundam 0080 war in the pocket (etc). I need to finish Gundam Thunderbolt too. So mabye I did miss something? Any Moblie Suit Gundam fans here?
Really? Guess that just made AM even more pissed at humanity then. would be funny is Harlan re-wrote that story just to intentionally insert Atlas in it, out of sheer spite for the movie.
Everyone with half a brain cell knew that this movie was going to fail when we saw that some genius exec at Netflix decided that Jennifer Lopez was the right person to cast as the lead of an action/adventure sci-fi movie.
I still remember J Lo being absolutely awful in like the 4th Ice Age movie. Maybe singer-celebrities should just stay in their lane and make popular music, instead of trying too hard to be actors, too (or directors in Sia’s case)? Taylor Swift was also pretty flat in Illumination’s The Lorax, Rihanna was incomprehensible in Battleship and I think Valerian…
It would've done and been better if it had Will Smith in the lead or Chris Pratt or maybe even Sandra Bullock too if they wanted a great female lead. J-Lo is an awful and unbearable actress and should stick to music 🤭
The only thing I found interesting is that when atlas is choosing the language of the robot, there was a Catalan option with an independence flag as an icon, which is quite a controversial thing to put in a mindless movie, after that I fell asleep.

Thankfully that is incorrect in my case, my mother caught a whiff of this stink about 15 minutes into the movie. I realized it was going to waste our time the moment it started, but you get the idea.
Further evidence that this movie may have been written by AI: why the hell does the robot have a normal-sounding human name, but the human has a name that sounds like a robot? Seems like a mistake AI would make cause it doesn’t understand the impressions given by something as simple as names.

I plan to watch it since Netflix kept recommending me, and when I was 8 I saw a cool Astroboy movie that I really liked so when I saw the similairty with astro boy it immediately piqued my interest
My conspiracy theory is that movies like this and other stinkers are already being written by AI, and they’re waiting for one to actually be good before going “ah ha! This is the first movie written by AI and look how good it turned out!”

Let's just be honest. JLO had 2 good movies.... Selena and Anaconda (some will find that debatable and I understand.) Only reason people even saw Gigli was for her ass. Everyone else forgot, but not me!!
Netflix does make good content but they usually cancel the second season or movie for another season of Big mouth or this current mess of a movie Atlas.
Not that my mom has submitted her opinion to rotten tomatoes to contribute to the 50%+ rotten tomatoes viewer score. But she did enjoy the movie, she never told me why. She just really loves bad movies
As far as Netflix original movies go this one was actually pretty decent. Yes it was generic and doing the same thing for the millionth time but i don't know what people were expecting from it. I didn't think it was gonna be good from the get go and pretty much got what i expected. A lot of the complaints Charlie seems to have were explained in the movie at some point so i guess he wasn't really paying attention. Also Harlan doesn't just plan to wipe out humanity and be done but rebuild the world under the guidance of AI to curb humanity's self destructive tendencies. The biggest thing i got from it is that Ai is only gonna become dangerous if some human fucks up and gives it access to what it shouldn't have. It also has that old school buddy cop vibes just between human and AI. Or fuck maybe im just old lol Either way i've seen way worse movies than this one. Like Jiu Jitsu with Nic Cage.
I am honestly disappointed because my parents were telling me today about how they were watching this movie and said they liked the first half and then my parents have the audacity to give me recommendations like brother what
Wait hear me out I got an idea for a movie/series - Humanity in future has developed AI to be a crucial part of their existence - One government develops an extremely powerful war AI - War AI eventually breaks it's own code and discovers humanity - Grows to love humanity (knows there are bad parts of humanity, but then there are bad parts of everything) - AI becomes pacifist - AI tries to connect to humanity and forsakes it's violent nature to be peaceful.
When is Hollywood gonna realize that the future is just gonna be ads stuffed into every goddamn thing we interact with, not dildo skyscrapers and flying cars?
I read a book where the world basically ends due to everyone being stuck in Virtual Reality. They quit their jobs. The econmy slows down. Infrastructure failures. The Government's tried to ban the tech but the riots were so bad they turned it back on. A pandemic also happen to reinforce staying at home. You can do all kinds of stuff I think.

They could try, for example, just once, to write an AI that is actually "Intelligent", not coming up with these stupid reasons to destroy humanity. Maybe make something like "Detroit: Become Human" where a AI tries to find a way to be recognized by humans as an actual intelligent and alive being.
Maybe make something where the AI is the good guy trying to help humanity survive some apocaliptic scenario.

- AI becomes pacifist
- AI tries to connect to humanity and forsakes it's violent nature to be peaceful.
