    Thanks for your feedback and tricks. One question I have: where do you buy the parafilm? I've searched it on Amazon, but wasn't successful. Thanks in advance

    How many put roots on?

      Only a couple. I had a bad fungal gnat infestation that year.

    I just came across your video. You’re doing that in January. I’m in April. Do I still have time to try it this year?

    It is nearly impossible to root apple cuttings. Take a lot, give it a try, but don't expect any roots.

  • @CliftonMurphyjr

    Wouldn't it save a lot of work to root the rootstock, and then just graft cuttings onto them without also rooting the scion?

    • @gardeningsimplified
      @gardeningsimplified  Год назад +2

      It would save time if I would have just wanted a grafted tree, but I wanted to compare the growth of a grafted tree to a tree on its own rootstock.

  • @FuseItAll

    Do you have a update on how many rooted. I probably have more then houndred cuttings from different apple trees / sorts that I am hoping to keep alive. I dont have root stocks, might buy for next year. But the plan is to start propagating them myself.

    • @gardeningsimplified

      I did do an update in one of my propagation update videos. I only had a few survive. A had an infestation of fungal gnats that devastated all my propagations that year.

      @@gardeningsimplifiedThank you, its my first time taking cuttings for apple trees this way. Hopefully I will have beginner luck. Wish you a good gardening year !

      I saw a video that suggested using sand at top (surface) of soil and bottom of cup (under soil) to discourage gnats. Supposedly trying to get through the sand is like crawling through glass for gnats. Hope this helps. @@gardeningsimplified
