Grafting Apple Trees Onto Root Stock

- Grafting apple trees is a ton of fun and just another form of plant propagation! It's pretty simple to do and the grafts take relatively easily. You'll need a few supplies such as a good root stock, grafting knife, grafting tape, rubber bands, and of course apple scions from your favorite apple tree variety, in my case I'm using Honeycrisp apple scions.
Grafting your own fruit trees is great and the grafting process is simple but does take some know how and an understanding of the process such as time of year and how to treat the apple scions. With a little patience, you can create your own apple trees!

Finally got the apple grafting done and it was a huge success!

When your mother in law's apple tree is fruiting, I'd love to see the fruit. We have a man in the South Island of New Zealand, who has been collecting and propagating as many old varieties of apple he can find. So far he and his supporters, have gathered over 600 varieties. They now have started mini orchards on Council land, so everyone can enjoy the fruit.😊
