2 things to add to the conversation:
    1) no matter what we feel, say or do about AI, it won’t stop China, Russia, or anywhere else in the world from doing what they want with AI. We can’t look at this issue only by looking at what’s being done by our tech industry.
    2) while all the concerns about AI being used for “fake content creation” are valid, a bigger concern will be when the AI programs start to really master how to program and code other systems, machines, etc. At that point humans can be taken out of the programming/development process and we might not know everything that’s been included or excluded from the programming.

I understand, but that has nothing to do with AI. Even if AI never dropped for another 10 years, service industry is still gonna change because AI isnt the only tech or changes being made in the world. Being able to by product online (emvy's car example) has NOTHING to do with AI. Its also kinda craxy that rich people (yes, Envy and Charla) are pretty much saying why shouldnt they have humans serve them hand and foot. once you get to a certain level of power, the working class is just a class to use to your advantage, we are all the help to them. how dare we want better for ourselves, how dare we want to give service jobs to robots and AI while the lowerclass can focus on more creative and meaningful work and service to their communities and the world. How many jobs in radio did podcasting kill? How many therapists and health care workers are losing clients to big mental health expos lead by celebrities and influencers. not everyone can afford therapy but everyone has a radio to listen to charlamagne for advice. I bet every one of Envys dozen flights a week are bought online. why wont you got to the airport to buy every ticket there envy and give someone at a counter something to do? how about waiting to get to the hotel to book it, because even using a telephone is advanced technology vs getting a room on the spot for a real person.

AI requires we rethink some core aspects of our economy. It's very existence invalidates the reasoning for requiring average workers toil their lives away making someone else a profit, just to survive, when they cannot compete to be more valuable to employers, than an AI. Capitalism itself may just become invalid going forward, long term it certainly doesn't seem compatible with where AI will take us.

Its like a weapons manufacturer making weapons and one day makes a weapon that will be "a threat to humanity" and instead of stopping it or doing something about it, he says "im out" to sprrad awareness of the dangers, leavin the weapon to be used by others and go on a "AI is bad campaign". what about the weapon sir? wtf does telling us gonna do if it really is so bad? maybe we should lock you up and hold you accountable if it really is so bad vs praising you for your "bravery" of speaking out while doing absolutely nothing to solve or handle the problem you created. people are so anti Ai, they are praising the man responsibile for creating just because he jumped ship when the kitchen got hot and now wants to walk awat scott free and blame his coworkers instead? gtfoh

And because tinkering with it doing those things, gives YOU more ideas, and lets you try out more things. Using AI to write such "creative" things, is a great stepping stone as part of the rough-draft process! And for people who don't have a clue where to start with those things, AI can teach them how. Nobody who's serious about creating stuff, is just asking the AI to write their poetry for them, that is NOT how they're using this tool. Hey man, I'm "pushing" AI, but why has nothing to do with money. It's about enabling people to learn and do things they never understood before.
Since ChatGPT and Github Copilot came out, I've been able to create things I couldn't even fathom before. I've learned more advanced programming, and whenever I don't understand something, I can spend as much time learning about it with an AI, as I want, without worrying about wasting someone else's time. Seriously, it's ability to help you understand things, is incredible. Yes you have to double-check some information sometimes, but if you know how to use it, it's extremely powerful! Hallucinations are actually a small problem, which soon AI will advance out of. But I bet, because of this 1 year or 2, where it's a problem, people will never let it go, even years after it never does it again.

    • @GrumpDog
      @GrumpDog Год назад

@@Pugetwitch Well, it helped me figure out how to build a bunch of Arduino projects I'd never had the confidence to get into before, cause it can explain things so patiently.
Just this year, I've managed to code a wifi-enabled alarm-clock and weather display for myself. AI was great for helping with programming and API questions, even choosing compatible parts, which I then put together with 3D printing. Also created my own Uncanny Eye project, and a wifi-hotspot device for event coordination, both coded pretty much from scratch. My coding complexity increased greatly and I'm able to put together larger projects thanks to AI, nearly doubled the amount of complexity and effort I can put in, and length, of my code. Next I'm planning on building my own smart-thermostat. heh
Also a lot of daily-life questions that used to go unanswered, cause they weren't worth bothering someone, can now be answered thanks to AI. It's helped me solve a lot of problems with my garden, just because I'm able to learn more through having conversations with the AI, than I ever could by searching.
Really IMO, to find a use for it, that matters for you, I think people just need to talk to it. Ask it questions and followups. These AIs will soon have the ability to generate images right inside the conversations.. So maybe there's ways it could help with construction planning, or at least early-stage ideas. Already some of the AI image generations can be given a photo of an area, and a design to add to it, and you can ask it to add that future project into the photo, to see what a possible outcome may look like.

When they first invented the atomic bomb, they were worried there was a chance it would set the whole atmosphere on fire.. Yet they still did it anyway, and not even for the promise of great benefits either, just for the promise of a weapon to devastate our enemies.
AI, on the other hand, has countless untold benefits, in addition to the great risks.. So of course mankind is going to pursue it. We can't not.
I'd also argue that regular everyday people SHOULD have access to AI, just like they have a right to access knowledge.
Yes, AI will displace a lot of jobs. And it's not going to create anywhere near as many new jobs, as it replaces, despite how some economists are trying to dismiss concerns, by saying it'll create more. That's a nothing but a baseless lie.
AI is the next stage of technology. It's long been predicted as inevitable. And it's existence invalidates much of how our economic system works. You ask how will people have money to buy products? Well, that's certainly the issue we face. We need to make major changes to how our economy works. As AI takes over the economy, we should probably tax it, and fund an AI Dividend for all.

There will be bad actors with nefarious intentions. It does need to be safeguarded against the everyday person, but let’s not destroy it all together. The major thing that scares me is if the tech gets smarter than the creator.
We better hope for a Jarvis vs an Ultron.
