Part of the conflict with Batman going back in time and talking to his parents comes from something that Mike points out. That if Batman goes and explains to his father what will happen, then Thomas Wayne has to decide if he's still going to go down that alley, irrespective of whether or not Bruce tries to stop him, or the crime involved. And then of course, how you would prevent that kind of paradox if they just get killed anyway.
It's not a bad hook by any stretch

I think it can work, but I'm always leery of "travel back in time to fix this one thing." It's challenging to give a satisfying ending that doesn't slip into cliches. Mike is going to need to deliver a clever and creative twist that ends with power and surprise. I know he can do it.

If the location makes the ending work better, then that's the location to use. Drive-thrus are good visual locations, so they could be a good location for denoument.

The batman story is like 112263. Its months of batman doing detective stuff, working the case backwards

That's a good observation. Mike would need to compress the research and keep it visual. The Stephen King Novel 11/22/63 has chapter breaks, but if you buy the book, you're committed. Mike needs to create a cliffhanger at the end of every issue. That's a big challenge for a writer.

@ComicBookSchool the guy he robs for his clothing should be Thomas Wayne. When they meet later Thomas would notice his own suit and be leary of Bruce.
