    I am using a Galaxy S9 plus for four years. I never had accidental touches because... hello.... everyone uses their phones with a case. I can't go back to a flat display, I love them. Most importantly, as I saw in another review, the miui has specific settings where you can reduce the sensitivity of the edges as well as the area of touching, so it has one of the best software implementations for accidental touch rejection.

    I have the Mi 9 for 3 years now. Never had any issues. I will probably have this xioami 12 as a replacement. Fits what I like on any phones. And the main thing i like is it's not very bulky. Can fit in my pocket. Don't like big phones.

      it's just xiaomi poorly executed this time, I always uses curve edges flagship for the last 3 years, and I never found accidental touch issue in those phones I've used. Maybe the software optimization is the one to blame here

    I think the issue is in you with the accidental touches, these curves are so tiny, I didn't have any issues with that, especially if you have a case which 90% of people do have. p.s. I also hate curved displays but some companies did it right. Last curved samsungs and this one finally made the balance between cool looking and not such a big curve to make you nervous. Also not to mention that you can enable the accidental touches option which helps a lot. :)

    Dang the cameras on the Xiaomi 12 Pro is saturated but the 12 looks a tad overblown or wash out sometimes. Now thats some inconsistencies right there. Hopefully Xiaomi can better optimised this before the global launch of this devices. Otherwise, the challenger which are S22 and S22+ wil definitely beat them in image processing, even if they cost an arm and a leg.

    • @OmarSS87

      @@OmarSS87 no no no...I understand samsung phones used to be more saturated, but those photos from xiaomi 12 is nasty saturated, it's too much. Even mi 11 ultra doesn't really did this, there's something wrong with how xiaomi works on this phone...not looking good so far for xiaomi in flagship arena, watch techTablets yt review and you'll see how crazy the saturation is, it ruins the experience. MIUI 13 probably one thing to blame here

    • @bosenngantor9160
      @bosenngantor9160 2 года назад +1

      @@OmarSS87 I think those comment on sony's processing...there's some discussion on that. My main phone is xperia 1 iii actually, I love the camera for the most part, but the poor dynamic range is there, and I hate and love it at the same time, it's lame for quick shot (it's straight up sucks if you want a dependable camera for every situation), but I love the natural output from the camera, and I often edit my photos manually. But I hate using xperia 1 iii for quick snaps, so I get myself pixel 6 to accompany xperia 1 iii.

    Also a problem with the Xiaomi 12 series is that the 8 gen 1 chip overheats with doing the benchmark test and gaming after some time. Because of that it will end the benchmark tests and force close your game to not burn the phone.

Rest the back of the phone on your index/middle/ring finger, the pinky goes UNDER your phone and you use the thumb to press the display, I have held my smartphones like that my whole life, even with a flat screen if you curve your fingers to hold your phone like you show you will have accidental touches because the fingers CURVE and go over the display.

    this kind of small compact phone should have a headphone jack, IP rating, and charger in the box. And more companies need to release compact phones because nowadays all phones have a 6.67-inch screen I don't know for what reason !! and bulky which might not work for everyone. I've been using one plus 7 pro for the past 2.5 years it's almost done !! now I need a new small compact phone with all the basic features right, because I've lost hope on OP

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 2 года назад +2

      Compact phones for obvious reasons have even less chance for a headphone jack. As for IP rating, I have no intent ever to put my phone near water and not having it is no big deal, most will be good for splashes and rain as teardowns have showed it has some water resistance. The EU if dictating the removal of all chargers as its research suggests it is one of the worst e-waste issues and unacceptable in 2022. We should support the OEMs following this. Proprietary fast chargers as seen in One+ for instance are excluded to promote innovation. I feel the lack of compact phones is due to the small demand.

    Main cons I agree with Lim is that battery is less durable comparing to other budget xiaomi devices due to fast and energy hungry processor but you get v fast charging + reverse charging so it works as a set and I can charge wireless my kids iphones which battery sucks :)

      He is comparing it with similar 4500mAh batteries which makes it very fair. He says that it gets worse than the competition based on his usage. I have seen a few battery drain tests and it does not perform great, for instance the iPhone 13 Pro Max with a smaller battery, bigger display and higher resolution beats it by 2-3hrs SoT. It is hard to defend that bases on the fact this is a compact phone so should be beating bigger phones with 4500mAh?

    I hate it that every youtuber doesnt even look inside the setting and using their time to feel and experience the phone. Xiaomi has a setting for these accidental touches at the curves. there are the options small, standart and big (where touches at the full curves are getting ignored per software) and U can even set it by yourself how you like it. Xiaomi is till now the only smartphone maker, with such a feature. So sad that all youtuber are not giving any heart to any phone, just looking after the boring standarts but not software. They are all blinded by Samsung/ Apple "Supremacy" that they dont even appreciate others software like the MIUI which is one of the richest of features and user experience. Still cool Video, Love U

    i think the practical solution to accidental touches is putting on a cellphone case. but if you want using your phone without case that's going to be a problem haha

      I have phone with curve display ( Galaxy S20). Even using with case I still accidental touches quite often when using app like Instagram or RUclips, its not a permanent solution

      Samsung had a feature where you can deactivate the touch responsiveness of the boarders of your phone to avoid unwanted touching, I guess hey could easily integrate that in MIUI

    Xiaomi 12 or Asus Zenfone 8 ?! What do you think is the better choice?

    • @pudinichigo91
      @pudinichigo91 2 года назад +2

      For me I would choose Xiaomi 12, they have better build quality, bigger battery, better camera sensor & much better design in my opinion, the price also not much different, at least in my country which is not more than $50 different in terms of price

    Hi lim, would you recommend that I sell my iPhone 13 pro and get the xiaomi 12 or 12x?

    • @CrexTV

      You should be crazy to do that swap, iPhone 13 pro still one of the best compact smartphone out there

      @joelconolly5574 2 года назад +1

      Not recommended. The iPhone 13 Pro is fine in it's own class.

      Xiaomi is great for it’s price. I’d be fine missing out on the “premium” iPhone features and pocket the savings.

      @@joelconolly5574 after using it for 3 months. its safe to say, ios just isnt for me. its too restrictive and boring.

      @@athenaallen6119 If you want small I'd say go Xiaomi 12 or 12X then for better future proofing. Seeing Pixels aren't available in many places Xiaomi is probably the only one selling one handed phone.
