Subscribed! Great channel I really appreciate the info but just have 2 newb questions:
    1) so what happens if my trezor gets lost or destroyed? Is my crypto gone, or am I good as long as I have my pins and seed words recorded somewhere or memorized?
    2) I have a really old PC, will trezor still work for me or would I need a newer laptop?

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  2 месяца назад +4

      Thanks for the sub!
      1) As long as you have your seed phrase you can recover your crypto on nearly any hardware wallet device-even a different brand wallet.
      2) Trezor suite is supported by both older and newer Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.
Worst case, you can use the “Trezor Suite for Web” option in your browser rather than downloading the app.
But if your computer supports downloading it, I’d do that.
FYI, you can try downloading Trezor Suite right now before you even buy the wallet.
Just go to their website and try it out-it’s free software.

question. I originally had the Trezor one and upgraded to the safe 3. When I setup my safe 3, I used the recovery option using the seed from the trezor one. So my safe 3 has a 24 word seed phrase. Can I still change to slip 39 backup? If yes, and I want to do a 2 out of 3 shares, will one of the shares be the original 24 word seed, or will it generate 3 new 20 word seeds?

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  3 месяца назад +1

You can’t change your seed phrase.
You have to initially set it up using the SLIP39 20-word phrase, which you clicks later update to the multi-share phrase.
So you need to create a new one if you want to use slip39

Your seed phrase isn’t attached to any one wallet. You can import it into a million different wallets if you wanted to.

@@empressatheism5146 nothing happens. Your crypto isn’t stored on the wallet. The wallet holds your private key that’s used to access and manage your crypto.
Thus, if you do decide you want to upgrade, you just import your seed phrase into the new model and manage your crypto there.
You can also continue to use your old model (only if you want to) as you can import your seed phrase into as many wallets as you want (not saying I recommend doing this though).

  • @willspeakman2461

Trezor safe 5 is the choice then. You can split the seed phrase up like a multi sig. Meaning your protecting yourself from loss or theft. You can use the SD card to make the Trezor obsolete without it. Splitting the Trezor and SD in different locations makes theft impossible.
Sure you might get killed anyway if someone doesnt believe you but.... Eventually it will become common knowledge that you cant steal crypto physically. It will reduce crime and make it much safer. On top of that Tezor donates to Bitcoin education with each purchase.

After watching the review of the Safe 5 model, I don't see it offering any significant advantages over the Trezor Model T. Both have similar sizes and features, with the only notable difference being the addition of a side SD card slot on the Safe 5. However, if you lose the SD card, you can just wipe the device and regain access, which seems redundant. The Safe 5 is cheaper, but other than that, it doesn't offer much to differentiate it from the Model T.
If you already own the Trezor Model T, there's no need to switch to the Safe 5. For new users starting fresh, the Safe 5 might be a more budget-friendly option if saving around $20 is a concern.

Air gap does not equal more secure.
      Common misconception.
Malware can still be transferred via QR codes-it’s all data at the end of the day.
Also Trezor does offer SHA256 if you want it. However the automatic authentication check is good so you don’t have to use manual sha method if you don’t want to.

I dont like to trust my wealth on SD cards cause they tend to fail down the road they cant hold high temperatures or humidity , safe 3 is way better !

Then don’t use the micro SD.
It’s optional. Like i mentioned in the video, I don’t use it.
Also, if the micro sd failed you don’t lose access to your crypto. That’s what a seed phrase is for.
You’d just factory reset the device and import your phrase.
The micro sd card is solely to increases device security and further protect it from physical attacks.
It’s actually really cool. But not necessary imo assuming you set a good PIN.

MicroSd card is good feature , maybe is a way to copy multiple of them and safe in good places ,sandisk lifespan is 10 years so its worth it ,its similar to bitlocker on windows

Also your wealth is not on the hardware, it’s on the seed that is generated.

But if you rely on the hardware to protect your seed, then the security of your seed then relies on the hardware.

I swear ppl do not listen nor do they understand what EAL rating’s mean. Ultimately if you’re worried of losing your crypto to hacks or theft of some sort then just go with a BC-Vault or get multiple wallets and keep a little in each. But no one’s hacking into a BC-Vault wallet anytime in the next 20 years if ever.

Not same tech. Different software. Keystone does not have an app, Trezor does. I like both, but to say there are the same is incorrect.
