      Glad the info was useful! It's going to come down to what you value more - sound quality or active noise cancelling. If ANC is your primary, then the Treblabs will be disappointing. But if it's secondary, and you're more into good sound, then the Z2s are fantastic for the money. But if you really want good active noise cancelling, Bose and Sony are the leaders :)

    I’ve got the Z2’s and I’ve tried the Bose as well. In my Z2’s at least, there isn’t any hiss from the ANC, and it actually makes the mix much clearer than with them off. The details in the music all seem to be greatly clarified as soon as it’s turned on. I would agree that as far as blocking out ambient noise the Z2’s aren’t the best, but I don’t think they are as bad as the video made them sound. Overall, I would definitely have a hard time spending $350 on a pair of headphones on which I think a $90 pair surpasses in sound quality.

    • @mikepritchard332

      Agreed. I love mine. The bass is the only thing that dissipates with the ANC on with mine, otherwise, works very well.

    thanks for the video have you made a bose comparison to cowin headphones? i am trying to decide if i actually want to pay 350 for bose or go with a slightly cheaper option that still has decent noise cancellation. i'm worried if I buy the bose, that they might break on me and I will feel ashamed because of the price. note i never had bluetooth or noise cancelling headphones, so would I even notice a slight buzz sound if I didn't get the bose ones?

    Appreciate the comparison. Question: since he ANC is sub par and damaging to sound quality on Treblab, how well does the fit suppress external sound? You said the sound is great without ANC. In moderate noise levels like a mall or school cafeteria can you enjoy the music still?

    • @NaruSanavai
      @NaruSanavai Год назад +1

      Yes. I recently used mine mowing a lawn with ANC off, and though I could still clearly hear the equipment (obviously; the stuff runs at over 100 dB), the music was still crystal clear, _not_ at max volume, with a weedeater right next to my head (I was edging sidewalks).
      4 years late, I know, but I hope that helps.

    My daughter has the Bose and I have the Teblab Z2. The noise cancellation is spot on with the bass, but it works rather well, with no hiss (on mine at least), but as far as sound quality, I kinda like my Treblabs. Will I upgrade? Probably. I have had them for about two years and maybe upgrade to the Z3 soon.

  • @tighteyzs

    I like these types of comparisons. It really help, those who are on a budget, to decide which budget friendly devices are actually good. The only noticeable impressive feature about the Bose is its noise cancellation. For me, a $250 plus difference, in pricing, is just not worth it.

    • @JSLReview

    • @dehoedergia
      @dehoedergia 6 лет назад

      I think it's safe to say Boses sound better in the end, but with a almost $300 higher price point, that's to be expected. I own the QC35's while the sound signature is weird, they actually produce high quality sound. Can't say anything about the treblabs, but what I've read from comments and the reviewer himself the anc hiss is bad on treblabs. You can go for non anc with better sound quality, probably with same price tag.

    • @edwardhoffenheim3249
      @edwardhoffenheim3249 6 лет назад +1

      @@dehoedergia It's not rocket science. They sound good for cheap. When people buy things they don't go "Yeah, this is perfect. Oh wait... they have a feature I don't care about so let me just never consider these again." Does that really make sense to you. And if people HAD the money to buy $350 headphones doesn't automatically make them want to spend that much. Why do you think he's asking about the cheap ones?

    • @dehoedergia
      @dehoedergia 6 лет назад

      Not John Cena There's still no point in paying for ANC when you don't care about it. ANC puts price on the product, you can most likely get better non anc for same price, that's all I'm saying. Still the Boses probably sound better, but how should I know, I don't own the treblabs.

    I've had several Bose systems in my car and home... I'm a Bose guy and I had a pair of the Bose QC35's but the Treblab Z2's sound and quality workmanship is similar to the Bose products and is amazing especially for the price... I got mine for 50 bucks because of a damaged box..... I always tweak the sound products around with the sound quality and equalizer programs on my devices but the quality is already there with the Treblabs.... I watched some RUclips reviews on the Treblab's before I bought them and alot of the reviews noted the sound quality was on par with much more expensive products and in my opinion, it was true.... I know that some people say everyone has different tastes with sound quality but for me these are very good..... I plan on purchasing the Treblab XR700 Wireless Earbuds also as they too have good reviews.... These go for about 40 bucks... To each there own but for me, Treblab is on to something here..... I listen to all types of music from hard rock to classical to jazz fusion and have friends who have very high end audio products and I have been in to this stuff for going on 50 years so..... I'm just sayin.... ;-)

    Thanks for the review. I compared my TaoTronics BH040 (they look like a clone of the Z2) to the QC35II in a noisy store and came to the conclusion that their ANC was about 50% as efficient as the ANC on the Bose...not bad given the price difference, except that if you want great ANC well you'll be disappointed, regardless of the price. So I decided to order a QC25 for $150 during a BF sale !
    On the plus side the sound of the music doesn't become as bad as what you describe for the Z2 so maybe they've made some progress with more recent models.
    PS - great touch to list out all the gear you use, everyone should do that !

    Treblab recently updated this model and it no longer hisses with noise cancellation on. They also now offer the option to have their logo in black so it looks a lot better than the previous version. The sound quality now seems better with noice cancelling on vs off. They're such a great value that I can't justify spending so much more on a Bose headset for the minimal advantages it has.

      You can try other noise cancelling headphones, I have had a chance to test Bose QC35, Sony 1000-xm2 and Audio-Techinca ATH-ANC9. (To be honest, I just borrowed Bose for a 10 minutes, just to test how noise cancelling works and compare to other 2, which I own, so I will describe my experience with Sony and Audio Techinca)
      They all have awesome sound, Sony have better noise cancelling.
      Also plus for a Sony that sound quality do not suffer at all - with or without NC.
      Audo Technica is cheapest one, they are powered by AAA battery, doesn't have Bluetooth and sound pretty bad without noise cancelling, seems to me, bass output somehow depends on NC technology with them. But atm they are comfier than Sony.

It had a constant high hissing noise that you could hear a bit even while playing music, the anc didn't really cancel out anything, but it also made a very loud white noise. The thing itself was just pressing against my ears too hard. It put waay too much pressure on my eardrums, i would stop listening so i could take it off, it was that uncomfortable. First product i ever sent back.

    Thank you for this. Just saw a sale for these on a website - $69 (goofy "reg. price of $259.99 73% off" ) - *It's like the 20th email since yesterday, Cyber Mon. SMH!
    For this - maybe at some point reg. price $259 - I wanted to know about the ANC. You answered that! One of those too good to be true "sales, deals"
    I know this review is a year 1/2 old, so far the ONLY headset that comes close to the Bose are the Sony WH-1000XM3. - And both are $279, as of right now...Tempting, but still way out of my price range. Ah well. Thanks again for the review.

      Hey thanks for the comment! They definitely sound better, and the ANC I agree is just as good as Bose. But I do think that the Bose headphones are more comfortable, which is important for me - I edit video sometimes 6-7 hours straight. But the Sonys are great!

      Paul Shakeshaft lmao i have both and the bose sound extremely full and surrounds you in beautiful perfect sound almost feels like 3D. sony is just clean sharp sound and not as loud as the bose. if you know about audio sound, bose arent just loud sharp sound like every headphone, bose uses their signature sound with perfect frequencies so you have the most surreal sound in the Highs, Mids, and lows. sonys sound pain. sony has cool touch features which is it. ANC on bose is astonishing.

    • @97shane
      @97shane 6 лет назад +1

      JSL Review I disagree it been proven via scientific analysis that bose anc is superior. I have both had return the Sony’s due to cracked head band a poor build quality and cracking sound with and without anc and then not connecting after 6 months.

    Bose QC35 is definitely a kick ass product and worth its price. BTW $350 is just "suggested" retail price. Also the best price a BOSE store will give you is $299. I got mine for $270 at Costco. Maybe you can get them somewhere else at a better price, but I just love the Costco warranty.

    Unfortunately the QC35 did not last long enough. The power switch broke, and the Bose service guys refused to repair it, they said it will have to be replaced but I was not eligible for one. So that was a let down.I finally opened it myself and hacked, now it can be switched ON using a toothpick as the slider plastic had broken. Its unbelievable they charge so much for such a crappy product. I also found later on that this was a common problem in the QC35.
    I found the audio a bit muffled in the QC35, I thought the sound quality was much better in my 40$ Edifier headphone. I have now decided to buy a ATH-M50X this time, I am not much of a fan of ANC anyway.

    • @dehoedergia
      @dehoedergia 6 лет назад

      Never heard anyone else have that problem with the power button, guess you can find anything a common problem if you google it. Also QC35 muffled, are you deaf? I think they're anything but muffled, they have a weird almost mechanical sounding sound signature but I'd never call i muffled. Yes, also ANC is pretty useless if you listen to music on high volume or don't move in loud places often. My QC35 have worked just fine and I'm happy with them, they're just too comfortable to not like imo. Also I don't think QC35 is a crappy product, maybe you just had a bad one, there are those in every product you can name.
      Also, did you get the ATH-M50X's already? Heard good stuff about them, they're studio monitors though, might be kinda boring for music but at least the sound signature is flat.

    • @arbjful
      @arbjful 6 лет назад

      Clearly you haven't used higher quality headphone, try some of the professional headphones, you won't be going back to Bose.
      Regarding the problem of the slider switch, that is a common problem with the QC35, unfortunately due to the nature of the design, the headphone can only be replaced.
      Its true that ANC does not work in noisy places, I have tried it in Emirates business class, it wan't very good, but the headphones that Emirates gives was way better.

    • @dehoedergia
      @dehoedergia 6 лет назад +1

      arbjful ANC works wonders in the loud ass bus I use my boses in. Also high quality headphones, like my sennheiser hd600's or my hifiman he-400i's? I do own good headphones, they are better, but after I went wireless with headphones I aint gonna carry wired ones around with me anymore. Boses are best anc headphones for me purely because of comfort and acceptable sound. The build feels solid enough not to bother since I'm careful with my shit anyway. You come off more like a hater that someone who actually cares about this stuff. I haven't spent 1500€ on headphone stuff without research.

    Great video. If you want great noise cancellation you can make it yourself for a couple bucks. Buy an over ear passive earprotector (those one construction workers use) and disassemble your current cheap headphone. Place the drivers into the cups also the wiring and you have a noise cancellation headphone that outperforms every expensive brands. The damping factor is mostly 28 to 35 dB and that's a lot. Just look up some DIY videos on RUclips if you want to give it a try ;)

    I'd kop the Treblab. Bose has a long history of just being significantly overpriced nonsense. If sub $100 headphones have superior sound (which alot tend to have over Bose) to your $350 headphones, then you're an incompetent scammer or Bose, which are one and the same. 🤣

    I have the Z2 and tried the Bose nothing to compare in terms of sound quality and comfort. When is about NC the gap is reflected in the price, at least I can tell you in the Z2 the NC is very poor as it works as a filter of frequencies that gives as a result reducing its sound quality. The NC in the Z2 doesnt exist such as.
    As per comfort after 90 minutes of wearing the Z2 it hurt my ears. Another important detail which surprised me is the blue tooth feature. at times after 5 mts or 15 ft the signal gets weaker.
    I believe the price is ok but I am sure you may find deals for same or better quality.
    Why did I buy it? These are my first NC ones so I gave a try. BTW the case is really good!
    In short if you want to have NC you will have to spend much more money.
    Mine is an honest review
