We hope she does, she definitely knows more about a good home than Guy😂 she was an abused pup that was thrown in the streets before we got her. Guy was born in the shelter lol
Thank you! We are happy she's on the mend and hopefully within the next 4-5 weeks she will be able to go on walks again and hopefully hikes later after that
Thank you🐾😊 she's feeling good but still has 3+ weeks of recovery before her x-rays to see if the bone is fused. She's a strong girl and can't wait to have fun again!
Great to hear that Piper is healing well. Our furry family members give us unconditional love and we are their world. It's only fitting to do as much for them as possible for the short amount of time we have them in our lives.
We agree! However I feel like Piper thinks she's getting punished by not being allowed to be wild and free haha she doesn't understand why unfortunately haha
Oh yeah she's ready and keeps testing and breaking boundaries haha for the most part she's doing great though, a few weeks more until her x-rays though
Wow, I couldn't even imagine as active as she is ! So hard because they just don't understand it's for the better 😢 Hope everything goes well on the next appointment 👍
Yeah it's been really hard for her... Even before surgery she was not allowed to play and not go on hikes or long walks. Can't wait for her to be healed up!
Piper is a tough girl! Wise decision to get the surgery for her in the long run. Sorry to hear it’s been so tough on you and Mike in the recovery process.
Aww, 😢 I cried when you cried talking about little Piper and Isaw your tears. I'm so glad she is on the mends. Continuing to pray 🙏 for a speedy recovery.
Get well soon, Piper. We are praying for a speedy & complete recovery. Our boxer Zena doesn't do well with anesthesia either, at least that's how I see it when she had to go under for a routine surgery. For me, that was the toughest part, having to see her somewhat out of it & not herself.
Piper wasn't happy after sedation from x-rays but I was happy I was there when she woke up! With the surgery, Andrea Fitch was in the surgery team with her so she was always with her and she woke up with her so that was reassuring that she was with a familiar person she likes!
Great to see Piper is recovering nicely. As pet owners, a lot if us may have had to deal with them having surgery. Both you and Mike made the right decision, help Piper get better. Can not wait to see the next video on Pipers' progress.
Thank you! This was our first surgery with a pet, aside from neutering/spade etc. We know it was the right decision but still super hard to see her go through it. We can't wait to see her healed up!
@WanderingWagners It is hard dropping them off and seeing them. In time Piper will be back to here normal. It was very hard seeing dog Maya in recovery for her first double knee surgery. We had setbacks and a couple more surgeries, and she was back to her normal hell raising self. A virtual hug for everyone.
Glad to hear Piper is doing well. Before rescuing my Beagle Armstrong he was found by the side of the road after being hit by a car breaking his left rear femur in half. The poor boy endured a surgery of two plates and nine screws similar to Pipers. It’s been a recovery year and a half and he’s a happy precocious 3 year old Beagle. Looking forward to hear how Piper progresses.
Smooth and speedy Piper. Our 12y/o lab is currently 4 weeks post op from her 2nd TPLO. Being a senior dog, keeping her calm and restricting activities is the easy part. Dealing with her muscle loss and weakness has been the hard part. We definitely feel you pain. It's a long and tiring process. Moreso for the humans. Lots of nights of sleeping on the floor or couch. In a couple months when Piper is fully healed, she'll be back to her old crazy self.
I imagine the keeping calm would be much easier with an older pup.. it just makes us feel bad to keep piper cooped up when we know she wants to have fun and play. Long recovery but hopefully worth it!
We also have TPLO to look forward to this summer with our Lab after she looses a few more pounds. Thanks for a little insight into the experience! Hope Piper gets back to normal soon!
Well, you would have thought Piper was my dog the way I teared up! Praying for Piper's recovery (and obedience?) Remind Guy he needs to help take care of Piper! 🙂
😥♥️ it was a tough experience that's for sure! She just needs to rest and stop her escape attempts and get that bone healed ugh! Guy did lay by her a lot during the first week of 2 but now he's back to being jealous that she gets pets when he wants all the pets lol
I was doing ok untill I saw Lynn crying.. that moment reminds me of all our times we had our fur babies getting surgeries as well.. it just busts our hearts when our fur babies need help.. So glad Piper is over the hump and on her way back to her normal! I feel your heart break for sure! ❤
Yeah it was hard to keep it together seeing the pictures... Piper has such a special place in our hearts it's hard to see her down n out. She is healing but it's a long long process to be all better unfortunately
Thank you for sharing this update on Piper I have a couple of dogs my self I understand how you feel when they are sad get well soon Piper so I can watch you be your self in these videos
Thank you! It's very tough to watch her not be allowed to be herself and she doesn't understand why we keep saying no no and she has to be in a crate/pen all the time💔
I’m stopping at the pictures……I was a vet tech for many years and assisted in this exact surgery, I think, six times. Pipers surgeon did a beautiful job!! Very clean, very straight and aligned. Her recovery will go well. I was crying right along with you!! Now I’ll watch the rest, I just HAD to say that. 🐾🐾❤️ Edit: I knew it! Glad to see her doing well. I expected a few “mishaps” from her…the separation anxiety girl that she is, especially after a surgery. Much love to her! I’m looking forward to summer so I can observe all the pearl clutching. 🤣😂
Glad to hear you think it's looking good so far! We just need her to keep calm🐾😂 she's not a fan of that. The jumping in bed was because she was used to sleeping with us in bed every night and then she was hurt and not allowed in with us and she didn't know why... It was so sad to tell her no when I know she just wanted to cuddle like always💔 She's used to it now but still sad she sees Guy on the bed and not her. Get ready for another summer of people blaming Mike for my attire🤣🤦🏼♀️
Lynn I love that you stayed up with her all night!! When my rottie girl had it last year I took a week off of work to take care of her. Good news for you. She runs around now like she used too but. We followed all the post op orders and I know you will too!!
Thank you! That first night was ROUGH😩😂 luckily she's doing ok but she keeps trying to escape and we are worried she will reinjure the bone that's trying to heal😬💔
@WanderingWagners that is a very valid worry, we had to keep our 100lb girl in her harness and on a leash whenever we went outside, even when she went to potty cuz she wanted to run!! Still a year later if she runs and jumps too much she will limp for a couple of days. But our vet said she is good! Piper will do well and will be running in a couple of months!
We had the same surgery on our small Havenesse about a year and a half ago. Took about a month for him to get his cast/wrapping off. He was great after. Good luck.
wishing Piper a speedy recovery! Glad she's doing well! Our dog Grizzly will limp after running once in a while, like he pulled a muscle or something. A couple of times, he wouldn't eat and was shaking which is very unusual. Then after a little bit, he's fine. I wonder if he has something similar going on. He's 11 and not nearly as active as he used to be, so it's hard to tell.
Limping, not putting all her weight on the other and stretching more is what piper would do. It's possible your pup has the same but can't tell unless they x-ray it. Before they knew they gave her antiinflammatories and pain medicine and that helped in the short term. She will get joint supplements too now
I want to thank for your help. I asked in the past about your seats and adapter plate. I traced last summer out west and my RV was being serviced for the last 5 months. I got it back two weeks ago and finally had the chance to install the seats. Monday my chassis goes in for service so I will let them do the final air connection. I ran the lines and air horn. They just have to splice into the air system. I have a Ghost so this be easy for them.
My boy basset hound had surgery on his legs too a few years ago. It was rough. But his life quality did improve. He is no longer with us; we had to euthanize sadly a year ago, cancer. It's been a few months since your surgery and I hope you and family are doing well.
Sorry to hear of you pup... That's the worst!💔 Piper is back to her normal crazy self and all we can hope now is that she doesn't injure other back leg!
We have a 12 year old puppy that injured his hip 4 months ago. He didn't have surgery or any thing but he wanted to keep going. The Vet said we need a decision. We'll 4 months later he went on a ½ mile he wanted to. Dosen't use the sling or anything. Zeus is one deturnmend puppy. Just had to brag about him.❤😃
My dog had this procedure. Hardest part was the recovery period. He did well for a years after that. I recommend joint supplements, my boy struggled with really bad arthritis in his later years with that leg.
Mike, don't let that game at Cracker Barrel get you. I got it down to one once, so I know I was a freakin' genius. After that I couldn't get it below 2 so I must be getting dumber. So you're in good company. Well of course she has an RBF because she is a B in the proper sense of the word. Here's to hoping Piper has a full recovery and is out tearing up the gas soon. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give the pups a pat on the head for me.
We had these games all the time growing up..I was surprised he never saw it before😂 We cannot wait to have piper back on the hiking trails with us again🐾♥️
We had a shepherd/heeler mix who loved to play frisbee and was very active. She blew her ACL at age 4, and we went through TPLO surgery with her. She recovered beautifully. After 10 weeks of keeping her calm and limiting her activity, she was released to gradually start working back to normal. We were SO careful! And yet, 3 weeks later, she blew the other ACL. 😢 The vet had warned us that this often happens. So we went through TPLO surgery with her again. She recovered well, and after another 10 weeks, she was great. We slowly let her start having more activity, and in a short time, she was back to being a frisbee star! And she played frisbee as well as ever for many years. We lost her at the ripe old age of 16. We never regretted putting her through the surgeries, because her legs were pain free for 12 more years. Hopefully, Piper’s experience will be similar.
I'm almost positive it happened when she was playing frisbee so Mike and I are both traumatized about her playing frisbee again🤣😬 she goes HARD and does quick movements and just knew she'd hurt herself for real and here we are haha So far the other leg is "perfect" according to the vets multiple x-rays... But definitely no guarantee it'll stay that way
@@WanderingWagners That sounds promising! At least now you will recognize it quickly if it should happen again (we sure hope it doesn’t!) That surgery worked miracles for our girl, and it gave her a great life. It also earned her a lot of leg rubs, lol! Good luck to y’all. You’re great dog parents!
Stella is three weeks in now from her tplo. She is dying to run and play with her siblings. Glad Piper is doing well. I’m pretty sure Piper and Stella are the same breed. Stella has torn both so we may have to do this all over again with the other side.
Piper is a boxer mix (we call her a mini boxer because she's only 40lbs lol) She's unhappy about not being allowed to do what she wants, when she wants. She's going on 5 weeks post surgery but we can only hope she can get released after 8 weeks and not do 12 of confinement🤞🏻 for now her other leg is great (per the x-rays) but know that the other one is more susceptible to overuse and injury too
Did they offer to give you something to keep her relatively calm during the healing? I can say from my knee surgery that things being pushed too hard during recovery can cause complications that will have long-term effects. As much as you might not like to see her sedated it is the best thing for her. I had my knee surgery in July of last year and I still have to climb stairs rather gingerly. But mine was a broken kneecap and I still have all the hardware in there. And it probably won't be removed because of the cost. Unfortunately, dogs don't know they can do more damage if they aren't careful
Glad to hear the surgery went great now recover we had this done to our lab and it’s was hard but it will get better ❤️🩹 the vet suggested lazer treatments and they worked.❤
Piper doesn't know how lucky she is to have you both.
Then agian, love is love.
We hope she does, she definitely knows more about a good home than Guy😂 she was an abused pup that was thrown in the streets before we got her. Guy was born in the shelter lol
Great that Piper is doing well!!!
Thank you! We cannot wait for her to get back to 100%❤️🩹🐾
You two are great pup parents. I am glad to see her recovery journey. Heal up Piper. We need more adventures with you.
Thank you! We will keep everyone updated with her journey so far
Prayers for a speedy recovery for Piper and both of you as well. We do love our pups!!!
Thank you! She's getting better every day. Hopefully only a few more weeks of keeping calm
happy to see things turned out well
Thank you! We are happy she's on the mend and hopefully within the next 4-5 weeks she will be able to go on walks again and hopefully hikes later after that
Fantastic news that she is doing well.

Hope Piper heals and both of you.
Thank you! Hoping for a speedy recovery

@motocross_guy5212 we really hope so!
So happy to hear piper is doing well 🙏 she looks great
Thank you! We think so too. She's still not really putting weight on that leg much but I think thats normal at this point
Piper looks great. Keep up the good work guys. It is always tough with a young energetic pup!
Thank you, we are doing our best to help her get back to 100% as soon as possible! She's not thrilled about it though haha
Good luck Piper.
Thank you! She needs it
Glad to see Piper's progress so far. You guys are doing a great job caring for her. Hope to see you out and about again thus season.
Thank you very much! We are trying our best to make it easy on Piper So she can get back to being her crazy self❤️🩹🐾
I'm glad she is doing better ❤

Thank you! She's got a long way to go, but overall she's doing well. We are hopeful that she will be hiking with us again soon🐾♥️
Hang in there Piper!
Really hoping her escape antics didn't hurt her recovery time😩🐾
Everything will be fine, don't worry......the animals have an incredible recovery!!!! We're in the crowd 🙏🙏🙏

@@WanderingWagnersShe is just a little uncomfortable due to the procedure...... in the next few days you will notice the evolution !!!

Good news. It’s tough. Andrea helped us as well. A great friend to have.
It was great to have Andrea be there with piper the whole time!♥️
Piper should be back up and running soon ❤❤❤❤
She WANTS to do that now😂 we say no no! Still has 3 weeks until her check up

I'm almost positive it happened when she was playing frisbee so Mike and I are both traumatized about her playing frisbee again🤣😬 she goes HARD and does quick movements and just knew she'd hurt herself for real and here we are haha
So far the other leg is "perfect" according to the vets multiple x-rays...
Piper is a boxer mix (we call her a mini boxer because she's only 40lbs lol)
She's unhappy about not being allowed to do what she wants, when she wants.
Yes she's been on meds the entire time to keep her calmer. She can overpower them quite easily if she wants to.

Thanks for watching!🐾♥️
Glad she is doing well considering her history maybe get pet medical insurance
You are probably right about that!!
