I am in the Kenyan Savannah but once in a while I head down to the Bayou, with my reed hat and a long straw of grass between my teeth, just to listen to the blues

Almost moved to New Orleans once. Took a Leave of Absence from my job and went down from DC for six weeks. My brother lived there so I wasn't alone. Enjoyed it immensely! Very friendly people, great food and lots of fun! Music was fabulous every day and night. This music is typical of a bar in LA!
I went to the Mardi Gras parade and was watching when a New Orleans Police car drove by in the Parade. He got about 50 feet past me, stopped his car, got out and ran back and kissed me. Never said a word, just got back in his car and drove on! That's New Orkeans! Also met another police officer who let me ride his shift with him - where he actually arrested someone!
@Pierre Valé Thank You Pierre I respect you too. My ancestors came to Terrebonne Parish when they got kicked out of Canada and made the Bayou area their home. We had a good life fishing and dancing for relaxation. Good foods & great exercise. Work hard during the week.. Then enjoyed the fun times... Friday nights wooden floor dance halls & Saturday's fishing trips. Sunday was Church day and Family gatherings. The best of life!
As a Candian and a food lover I count the days until I can visit New Orleans again. The food is top-notch. Along with the food the thing I like the best is the music. Long live the Acadians. The original a-ca-dians= a-ca-juns.
