Ads back then focused on the product or service and not politics and brainwashing! They also made you feel good and have an experience. You felt a connection with the products or services.
Many of them told better stories than the shows they sponsored.
10:39 here's a good one... this is the voice of Vic Roby for Gimbels. He was a longtime staff announcer for NBC.

6:08 Who is this announcer? He's a familiar, long time CBS staff announcer. I remember him from CBS football coverage in the 80s and 90s.
That's the voice of Don Robertson.

What else was going on in the US in July , 1969 : The Zodiac killer was on the loose and Ted Kennedy left a girl to drown at Chappaquiddick .
In August there was Woodstock , hurricane Camille and the Manson murders

You forgot the biggest by far, the Viet Nam War (or Conflict)! The next would be the Cold War with the USSR which we prepared for (WWIII) almost daily in school. The Beatles' last public performance, on the roof of Apple Records, First Concorde test flight is conducted In France, Boeing 747 jumbo jet makes its debut. Children's Television Workshop introduces Sesame Street.
The FCC bans all cigarette advertising on television and radio. The first in vitro fertilization of a human egg is performed in Cambridge, England. ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) goes online in December, connecting four major US universities. Designed for research, education, and government organizations, it is the foundation upon which the Internet will eventually be built.
