Can I just say a Massive Thank you to Matt Freeman and his great Bass Bunker.. its great to see you just as you, hanging out at home and on tour.. it really makes my day when you upload at video.. so Thank You.. been a massive fan of Rancid since the mid 90s.. and this just shows you guys are just very down to earth and cool dudes.. keep up the great work.. 👍
Matt isn't just an amazing punk bassist, he's just a god-tier bassist period. I remember Fat Mike (who's really, really good) saying he got his ass kicked doing that split with Rancid because Matt is just that insanely good. The line from East Bay is still probably my GOAT punk bass line.
Great video Matt. I will miss Warren, because he was doing a great job taking care of your basses & filming these videos. Hope we get more vids on tour.
I think these Bass Bunker videos are some of Matt's most important work, because of the insight and knowledge that they're archiving and sharing. I wish I had these videos when I was starting out. But I learned to play by listening to Op Ivy and Rancid, and figuring it out by ear. These videos are a wealth of inspiration to new players. Keep it up!
My biggest wish for your bass bunker would be that you show all your instruments. Double basses , guitars , and basses . I’ve read that you own a lots of players from 1977 to now. I know it would be a long video . But maybe do a part one and too, Matt you’ve help me trough so much stuff while I was in rehab . Free m rancid to devils brigade , charger , etc I followed your career since pretty much op ivy, biggest fan 🌹💯👍🏻
I'd love to see a video on your setup and signal chain for recording! Maybe some info on different approaches you have taken on different albums. Thanks for the videos!
Hi Matt! That’s is awesome! I went to NY to watch you guys! That was incredibly! You guys of rancid NEED make a tour playing all your best! 2h of show please! Thank you for the bass bunker! We want to see you and Tim play sometime! Do that please! You guys of Rancid are LEGENDS!
After this tour you guys should do a small theatre tour or clubs or something? If you all get the tone masters setting up a theatre gig would be a breeze! Just saying. I can’t be the only old man who would enjoy a little nostalgia?
Been a fan since I started playing bass in 95 and you have been one of my longest running influences. I’ve seen you guys numerous times! Just wanted to say you seem like the nicest and warmest guy irl, thanks for sharing that side with us!
I have the same bass ( #2 American ). I hated that original pick guard ( mint ). I’m going to be posting a vid soon on my upgrades . Love this bass !!!!!!!! I also changed the pickup covers . Looks so much better IMO . Great vid !!! Instant sub .
Saw you guys in Toronto open for Green Day and the Pumpkins and it was absolutely awesome, loved hearing you rip through those classic songs in person and you guys just killed it. Stay awesome, Matt, and love from Toronto
Awesome stuff! I remember seeing you play for Social Distortion back in the day, pretty sure it was a Jazz Bass! When you get a chance when you are home, start learning to do full body stretches to counteract the back issues. I do and it significantly helps!😉👍✨
Thanks Matt, great as always!!.. Ask Warren to make you an appointment with with Tom Araya and make a video with him, that would be fucking awesome!!!!
Thanks for the video, Matt. It made my day. I just broke some ribs today, so I canceled my trip to Austin. I'm disappointed I won't make it to Austin, but this brought some joy to the day.
Thanks for showing us your tour load out, Matt. Even if it was in the world's loudest corridor. 😂 As a bassist myself, I'd like to see a few meat and potatoes technique videos. For example, how do you approach writing a bassline for a song? Maybe you could jam with a drummer to demonstrate how you guys work together? Just throwing that out there. Thanks again and I hope our paths cross some day! 🤘
Hey killer set in Milwaukee you guys were the highlight of the show. I hope to see the Linda Lindas on a smaller venue tour, too. Stadiums aren't usually my thing but I love you guys and had never seen the Smashing Pumpkins.
Another great video! I too have back problems. My main bass is a 11 pound 51-ish I build. It's just a studio sitting down bass. I need to build som chambered basses
I know you already had a signature Squire bass but it would be sick if Fender released one too, especially if it was hollowed out like the one in this video.
Fellow bassists- question about when Matt does some quick little noodling. I love hearing it, what is a good starting point to learn to play this sort of thing? Like is it blues? Any info appreciated! Thanks. And cheers for another great video Matt!
Matt, thanks for getting me into the instrument. Been playing for quite some time now. Could you let us know a little bit of what your approach is to writing bass lines? Has your approach changed from album to album or has it been the same since the op ivy days?
Dude I was having back issues just playing like hour sets in my basement. Better now after rest but I'm learning to periodically take sit breaks during my sessions
Are you using the Fender Tone Master Pro and the FR10? It is a same it still have so little bass in the it. But how does the TMP + FR10 combo work for you?
Man having a bass with a chambered body would be really great for me. I have a broken left clavicle (where my basses are strapped onto) and slinging a 12-lb bass gets really painful during long sets. My bass is a CBS-era Fender Precision Special from 1981. that thing’s a fucking shoulder breaker. I should really save up for a lighter Am Pro II but they’re just so fucking expensive in my country haha.
Throwing it out there. My ex girlfriend abused the absolute shit out me for years. She fed me drugs to keep me around. She ruined my life. But i have persevered. Can i play pulling teeth tonight? Could you send it through the channels to billie. I'll be in section 105 tonight. I can RIP that song. It means so much to me. Thought and a shot. Love you Matt! Im actually low key more excited about seeing y'all than green day. Dont tell Billie that part tho lol.
pick plate….. that’s what they called now, nothing else, its official never use the word pick gaurd or scratch plate only on a guitar. bass is called pick plate, matt says so….. i like it

Who would not want to play in a band with this guy?!
A very balanced, laid back person!
they need to make that chambered one into a production model/your signature model, I'd buy it!
Same!
That would be a killer sig!
That would be amazing because my shoulder is all messed up and I mostly play a mustang bass now because it’s so much lighter.
@@mes2239 I never really cared or noticed weight until I picked up a Japanese P-bass with a basswood body that's super light. Just feels right.
Warren does it all! Thanks for showing us his work too!
Warren is the man!😉👍✨
This channel is a national treasure. Please never stop the uploads, you are a bass legend.
Great video Matt. I will miss Warren, because he was doing a great job taking care of your basses & filming these videos. Hope we get more vids on tour.

We saw you in Atlanta. Absolutely killed it! 🤘🤘

This was great! Makes sense that Warren would be in high demand too, he seems really good at what he does.
You should do an episode with the other bassists on the tour.
I'd love to see a video on your setup and signal chain for recording! Maybe some info on different approaches you have taken on different albums. Thanks for the videos!
loving the channel and seeing the tour behind the scenes stuff. Keep up the great work. See you tonight in Hershey

Great video, Matt! You all were great in Denver!
Been a fan since I started playing bass in 95 and you have been one of my longest running influences. I’ve seen you guys numerous times! Just wanted to say you seem like the nicest and warmest guy irl, thanks for sharing that side with us!
Matt is just so genuine.

Thanks Matt i love these on the road videos the bass bunker is the only place to hang out
The RnD bridge looks class!
Awesome stuff! I remember seeing you play for Social Distortion back in the day, pretty sure it was a Jazz Bass!
When you get a chance when you are home, start learning to do full body stretches to counteract the back issues. I do and it significantly helps!😉👍✨
Correct, he used the fender Getty Lee jazz bass
Thanks Matt, great as always!!.. Ask Warren to make you an appointment with with Tom Araya and make a video with him, that would be fucking awesome!!!!
Can wait to see you guys from the pit in Nashville tomorrow! Love seeing the equipment run downs.
Thanks for sharing Matt and cheers Warren.
Thanks for the video, Matt. It made my day. I just broke some ribs today, so I canceled my trip to Austin. I'm disappointed I won't make it to Austin, but this brought some joy to the day.
Coming to Pittsburgh tomorrow! Bringing my 3yo son who loves rancid and Green Day above anything else (😮💨😎
Thanks for showing us your tour load out, Matt. Even if it was in the world's loudest corridor. 😂

Great work Warren, looking forward to the show next week in Detroit!
Very cool! P Basses Rules! Thanks for sharing! Blessings 🙏
Awesome Matt! Lovin it! I can't make the tour this year. Can you post some concert footage?
Thanks Matt, you're one of the main reasons I play. Hopse to catch you down the road, love from Indianapolis.
Dope man!!!! Keep doing this thing…
I'm diggin' these Basement Bunker videos, Matt.
I would love to hear about the op ivy Bass lines or anything from those days
Hey killer set in Milwaukee you guys were the highlight of the show. I hope to see the Linda Lindas on a smaller venue tour, too. Stadiums aren't usually my thing but I love you guys and had never seen the Smashing Pumpkins.
dude for real, the Linda Lindas and Rancid took the show for me. happily surprised by the energy of TLL and Rancid was just perfect.
Love the video! But I can’t stop watching the blurry area.
Warren is Tom Araya’s tech too?! That’s badass!
Another great video! I too have back problems. My main bass is a 11 pound 51-ish I build. It's just a studio sitting down bass. I need to build som chambered basses
You could probably play the entire tour with that tone master pro and cab 👍
Thanks for even taking the time to make these!
Love your content! Would be great to see you talk to the other guys in the band too and maybe check out some of their gear too.
Love you Matt ❤
Grazie per i bellissimi video Matt, sei il migliore
These have been great videos, thanks for spending the time to do them.

Only great videos comes up from your channel. Big up and let the tour continue \m/
Man, a chambered bass sounds great - my back is knackered too. Wish they sold them.
Amazing, I'm loving these videos
Great man! Would you take the mexican bass on stage? Or are you worried about the reliability of the instrument, as you mentioned (jack..) ?
How do i petition to have Dead Bodies and East Bay at the Detroit show? :) Pumped for the show!
Are they all stock Fender pickups?
Thank you Mr. Freeman!
Thank you Mr. Warren!
Enjoy Slayer, lol
I love you and Warren.
I've been getting into lighter basses too. My 9+ pound Spectors started bothering my shoulder and back.
When do you play in Argentina again? I love you!!!!❤❤❤❤
they gotta mosaic-out ol' Albany Rambler Lint in the background😂😂😂😂
Lookin good Matt. Does Warren work bass tech for Slayer as well?
Can you teach us some techniques to help us get better at playing. Anything will help. Faster fingers, warm up exercises, scales to practice. Anything
Never thought id see Matt freeman wearing Skechers lol
Till this day, I still wanna know how you achieved the sound you came out with in the Rancid 2000 record. Thanks!
Get in line😂we all want to know. I especially like Young Al Capone, its got like this heavy fingers Motown sound. incredible.
@@bradenzo5386 ugh bro…. That maple neck sound 🤌👌

What’s your favorite Green Day song, Smashing Pumpkins song, and Linda Linda’s song?
Why don't you use jazz basses anymore? I heard your JB on wolves and became obsessed
Get Tim on bass bunker!
Show more backstage tour
Please make a signature light weight bass guitar
does anyone make chambered basses for consumers? That sounds like something alot of punks would appreciate
Do you get any neck dive with the chambered P-bass?
🖤🤘🏽🤘🏽
touring with the smashing pumpkins must be a special kind of hell
Better sustain with those heavy duty bridges
Throwing it out there. My ex girlfriend abused the absolute shit out me for years. She fed me drugs to keep me around. She ruined my life. But i have persevered. Can i play pulling teeth tonight? That sucks about Warren 😢. He will be missed.
pick plate….. that’s what they called now, nothing else, its official never use the word pick gaurd or scratch plate only on a guitar. bass is called pick plate, matt says so….. i like it
One of my jazz basses weighs 13lbs
I hope Warren is at the Nashville show. He's been doing a great job!
Damn I got to get my eyes checked. I swear I keep seeing a blurry spot.
Самые крыто звучащие цвета баса это чёрный и жёлтый.
