Huh. I've heard some bass players say they never change strings. As a guitar player, it usually takes me 45 minutes to an hour to remove/replace all 6 strings. Interesting the tech doesn't use a string winder, on a 6-string, a lot of times the strings can slip and you have to re-wind if you don't tune up fast enough.

    • @AtomizedSound
      @AtomizedSound 2 месяца назад

Yeah some do as preference cause they like muted dead sounding strings like flats. Not really the style for Matt and punk in general. Fresh strings equals a bright tone.

Straightaway I hope this dispels the myth that you need to cut one string at a time because if you cut all of them at once you risk harm to your truss rod or you at least throw it out of whack.

@@AtomizedSound I’m always trying new bass strings by different brands .
Back in the 80’s and 90’s , if the strings needed changing , I bought the cheapest set .
I don’t know if they were flats or rounds .
      No idea .
And back then I only changed my strings if 1 broke .
Who knows how long I kept playing with same set of strings …. Haha
      Nowadays I’m a lot different.
I’m more serious about them .

It all depends on what YOU like .
And it’s definitely a rabbit hole too .
Now I am in the process of modifying a Clash Paul Simonon bass .
I want it as close to his as possible.
I read that he uses Flat wounds .
      I honestly don’t think I ever used them .
If I did , I bought by accident.
Curious and can’t wait to try them .
