Daniel Ayy it’s just kind of a meme in the community, same with vitality in dark souls 3. Resistance only provides an okay benefit in the early game but if you were to put the point in something else like strength or endurance by the time you get to the mid-late game you would have passively gained the same benefits from resistance by leveling other stats anyway. So it kind of makes the stat useless.

InFamousStickFigure I feel like Vitality is a beginner's trap. If you put too many levels in that you won't be able to do more damage and use better weapons and you'll just have more than average health which usually ends up just being an extra 1 or 2 hits with most difficult enemies.
I didn't have that problem my first time through, worse problem I had was trying to do a faith build too quickly and didn't invest enough in anything else so I could take a hit and the damage output wasn't a good trade off. And I disagree again, having at least 20-30 vitality depending on your skill will make it so you can take more like 4-6 hits more. True but once u gain a couple methods of souls farming it's not too bad . As long as it's not alot and u know where your going. At first farm the bridge wyvern then the darkroot garden with the covenant npcs and anor londo silver knights & giants.

I enjoyed your review of dark souls. I'm new to your channel but I've been binging your stuff. And because you saved that kitten's life, I think you're as great a person as you are a game reviewer. Edit: George Carlin as Solaire is brilliant!
I can't wait for phase 2 of the Dark Souls Cinematic Universe, with upcoming releases such as Megaman 11(The Dark Souls of Megaman games), The Last of us 2( The N-Sane Trillogy of the Cuphead Franchise) and the mysterious Untitled From Software Game (The Bloodborn of the Kingdom Heats series)
I lost it at 'Dark Souls Cinematic Universe'. "Solaire, I don't feel so good." Lol! Also, FOR FUCK'S SAKE, people, Crash Bandicoot is NOT hard. Annoying in places, yes, but not hard.
I was not expecting Dark Souls but I enjoy this video and your cute kitty Selen she's adorable we don't blame you for taking long she needed the love and health😊
As a long time Souls Veteran I'm proud of you giving this series a chance. That said there actually is a story but you have to piece it together through item descriptions and the like. nah it's great because it's well mad, has a clear vision, is unique and COMPETENT. something AAA games are having great trouble bbeing. COPETENT. and COMPLETE.
See now I feel like a scrub because back in the day, Four Kings was the point I rage quit the original Dark Souls. I just could not beat them. Granted that was years ago and I've since gotten much better and love the souls games now (100% Dark Souls 3 earlier this year finally got "The Dark Soul" achievement), but yeah, back then I was that guy saying Four Kings was hard. But again, I was a scrub
2 is still good but yeah it’s the weakest in the series, I might be just used to dark souls at that point but I thought most of the bosses were too easy, the only bosses that gave me any real trouble were the lost soul and the blight queen though that’s more for there environment then the actual boss itself (it being bitch black in the former and the room being filled with poison in the latter) and both of these obstacles can be eliminated if you know what your doing. The only real dark souls worthy boss in it I will say is the Flume Knight seriously that guy can go to hell.
I would disagree again and consider it one of the best in the series, an underrated gem mostly because fanboys being fanboys because this game is a "B-team game". I kinda see it as a prequel to Bloodborne in terms of gameplay and gamedesign thingies, tho not as fleshed out and polished as Bloodborne and overall different in feel.
Alright, I this is where I come in. Souls 2 is certainly the most different out of all the other Souls games, but that doesn't make it weaker than the others. 2 does many things that make it significantly more replayable than the other games, such as a much more refined magic system, the most diverse movesets for weapons, and a new game plus that's actually worthwhile. With 2, you have to take much better care with every action you do, as stamina costs can be more brutal with consecutive actions, and chugging is easily punished. 3, on the other hand, lets you chug without consequence and doesn't really punish you for having a heavy build, even though poise doesn't work in the game. If you think Souls 2 is easy, then 3 is worth another go because that game is really just knowing how to press B.
I've beaten this game in like 15 hours with the dlc and no glitches, it's astonishing how quickly you can get through this game when you know what you're doing.
Raising a pet is indeed Dark Souls. They sap your money with food, vet bills, etc., they mercilessly attack you (with love), and they're hard to ignore. Looking forward to fan art of Solaine. :) May God give her a speedy recovery!
HunterMishky 117 I always thought John would suit a pet, not so much a dog but other pets like a tortouise...called paul. Just a note I think you might have spelt Selene wrong.
The ending features the ultimate boss.... the one that can kill you in a single glance by melting your heart and forcing you to scream 'SQUEEEEEEEE' while causing your arms to convulse.
Selene is adorable Johnny I'm glad she found a good home with you. Her story reminds me alot of my little Dachshund Peanut he wasn't abandoned by his mother but when he entered our lives he had one of the most horrifying and deadly pet diseases out there. Parvo which to those who don't know is like dysentery times a hundred for both Cats and Dogs. As a rule most pups and kittens will not last long at all with this it severely dehydrates them and they loose a lot of blood due to it infecting the intestines. But Peanut was the exception to the rule thanks to my stepmother's determined to keep him alive. She lost a week of sleep and kept cleaning him up and giving him this nutrient water that babies often drink and he pulled out of the dive and he's been my best buddy since. Selene is in great hands and she's the first Super Gaming Sister. I still can't get over how tiny Kittens and Pups are when that age. I mean look at her she's small enough to fit into the Playschool Triceratops Dinozord toy. Hahaha I would love to see that photoshopped Sadly I'm a spriter not a photoshopper so anyone who thinks it'd be cute feel free to make it for Johnny. I wish you guys all the best. Love the George Carlin stuff at the end still don't beat "Icebox repairman".
It's worth mentioning that once you learn how these games works you'll be able to beat it WAY faster than your first playthrough. My first Soulsborne game was DS3, and my first playthrough took more than 60 hours. Nowadays, I can beat it in less than 15 hours.
Randy Manus that all depends on the person playing, personally i had a way easier time on my first ds1 playthrough than on ds3, but i can easily see why people think otherwise.
@@OmgMLGsniper127 This is a VERY late reply ik. But Dark Souls 3 is leagues more difficult when it comes to combat and bosses. Shit ive beaten Ds3 multiple times and i still get rocked every time i go up against the nameless king or champion gundyr. I could play through Ds1 blindfolded. The game becomes a chore after a few playthroughs,
The thing about Blighttown is not just that it's tricky to navigate; it's that it compromises performance big time. Even on high end PCs, Blighttown will slow everything down or drop the frame rate to very low numbers. I have a GTX 1070 and Blighttown still lowers the frame rate with and without the DSFix mod. The remastered version fixed this issue thankfully.
strange i myself am a GTX 1070 users and Blight Town doesn't crap itself on my PC, the area before ceasless discharge on the other hand always drops to 15 fps when looking in a certain angles, but let's be real, the PC Version was still the go to version even at it's time, people often tell it was a bad port but the game itself ran like total garbage on consoles ;p
Great review Johnny! :) I normally dislike requesting reviews or videos to anyone because I know a lot of people do that already and I'd be beating a dead horse, but I really hope you take a look at Bloodborne one day, as it's one of my favorite games of all time as well as something of another Souls successor. Also, we need to give Selene her own Dark Souls health bar.
My favorite moment to look back on was during my original run. I had lost my internet so I was unaware of the early patches to the game.... namely the one that limited how much curses stack.... it was my first run and I went completely blind so I found myself at the bottom of Ash lake... with no purging stones.... no lordvessel.... and a max hp of one. So it was either start a new game... or be stubborn as shit and make it up tout of the lake and through Blighttown without being able to take a single hit or stand in the poison water for more than a few seconds. It was the single most grueling experience I've ever had in a game and yet the overwhelming satisfaction of finally perfecting the run and being rewarded with the merchant and my health back has yet to be topped. (In a way I almost feel bad as new players won't get to experience the same level of frustration and the euphoric satisfaction since the curses now cap at about a third of your total health.... but then I remember how playing without the cap made the game all but unplayable and it's defiantly for the best. There's difficulty... and then there is broken game design that was rightfully fixed.)
But he played the Prepare to Die Edition. So it was already included. Guess he just missed it. It is kinda hard to find if you play with no Walkthroughs at all though.
This was my bad. Forgot the PC version was only the prepare to die edition.(and the thumbnail still uses the original dark souls case) Still, 100% my bad
Ah yes the game that invented difficulty.

Brandon Roberts That's a pretty Dark Souls thing to say.
Man, this video is the SomecallmeJohnny review of Dark Souls
I really appreciate that Johnny is so open-minded. When dying in the catacombs because it was a late-game area, he didn't throw down the controller snd quit. He said "that's how Dark Souls" works.
Is this the Crash Bandicoot of platformers?
Wait that doesn’t sound right...
Cybrid101 it's the cuphead of RPGs....wait

23:05 You Died...
Of cuteness c:
Dying in this game is fine. Dying before you can regain your souls is one of the most infuriating experiences in games ever
True but once u gain a couple methods of souls farming it's not too bad . As long as it's not alot and u know where your going. At first farm the bridge wyvern then the darkroot garden with the covenant npcs and anor londo silver knights & giants.
@@GramoChopin Until you hunt an enemy to extinction according to a friend of mine who's a Dark Souls veteran.
@@StarlightMagician ...Im not sure what he means..ill guess tho. Maybe that's in reference to DS2. I haven't gotten to DS2 yet. I downloaded all them tho. Im working on getting 100% in DS1 first. At 72% now. But in DS2 they set it up that enemies STOP respawning after 10 or so times. Thus u can't farm enemies infinitely . Which sucks...i also heard u lose health every time u die. And it seems there are way more enemies in DS2.
Dying: “Aw, dammit. Alright, that’s a bit of a pain”
Losing your souls: “FFFFFFUUU-“
Dark Souls 2 had me once lose a stack of 60K souls.
It hurt. It hurt bad.
The kitten was the best part of the video tbh not saying that the video is bad or anything, cats just seem to top anything for me
Fuck cats
You review a manly game like Dark Souls and end the video with a cute a cuddly kitten? Kittens aren't manly! Disliked! Unsubbed! Unfollowed on Twitter!
Manly men can like cute things and still be manly
Every real manly man knows this
The sarcasm was lost on you, I see.
Even the manliest of Pillar Men, would enjoy something cute.

I enjoyed your review of dark souls. I'm new to your channel but I've been binging your stuff. And because you saved that kitten's life, I think you're as great a person as you are a game reviewer.
Edit: George Carlin as Solaire is brilliant!
The cat is gonna be your new Co-host
I wonder how Nathan feels about that.

That George Carlin reference was absolutely beautiful
What part of the video was that at again?
I swear this man is such a sweetheart, that kitten is just precious
21:20 The Boobie Lady? Litchi is in this game?
Good to know I wasn't the only to have Litchi pop up in my mind when I heard that line.
Amazing cheat ahead
And funny enough,

Also, FOR FUCK'S SAKE, people, Crash Bandicoot is NOT hard. Annoying in places, yes, but not hard.
It's hard only if you want 100% completion, average if you don't give a shit
Cuphead isn't hard as well. It's just RNG bs

Congratulations on the new kitty, Johnny. That's so great. She's looking healthy and wonderful :)
Johnny: there isn't that much story
Me a player who has read 90% of text items among other things: that's cute
fluff dafire nerd
Kevin Matta yes I am
To be fair, the story is "world is dying, kill bosses" it's the lore that's complicated
I was not expecting Dark Souls but I enjoy this video and your cute kitty Selen she's adorable we don't blame you for taking long she needed the love and health😊
That kitten is the true final boss of Dark Souls
I like how when he complains about invaders, he shows one real dude and like 3 NPC phantoms.
As a long time Souls Veteran I'm proud of you giving this series a chance. That said there actually is a story but you have to piece it together through item descriptions and the like. A few RUclips channels I recommend to get a better understanding of the Dark Souls and Bloodborne universe are: EpicNameBro, A German Spy, and VaatiVidya. These folks make amazing content.
Also that kitten is too damn adorable.

Yea not sure why I typed that myself. Also it's been a while since I've been in the Souls game, what did Vaati do to earn such animosity?
he doesn't credit sources, is what i've heard
I was going ro rush into that burning orphanage and save those kids, but hey! New Johnny video!

You got that right Johnny not even the four kings compares to....... the kitten lol
Are you implying Four Kings was hard?
challenging yes,hard no
See now I feel like a scrub because back in the day, Four Kings was the point I rage quit the original Dark Souls. I just could not beat them.
Granted that was years ago and I've since gotten much better and love the souls games now (100% Dark Souls 3 earlier this year finally got "The Dark Soul" achievement), but yeah, back then I was that guy saying Four Kings was hard.
But again, I was a scrub
Glad you enjoyed this one, Juanathan of Philadelphia.
I think youd get a kick out of Bloodborne and the 3rd DS.
But thats a story for another day~
...Why not 2?
I assume he is gonna do 2 anyway,
But from what I heard, 2 is consider the Weakest in the Trilogy
Rest in peace kentaro miura and thank you for making berserk which inspired dark souls
I've never played Dark Souls, but playing that while taking care of an abandoned kitten at the same time? That sounds like a real challenge.
That ending was so hecking cute that I might just die!
And die again, and again...
The Dark Souls of cats
“Don’t expect to beat this in a weekend” Ive seen twitch streamers who beat this game every day, usually before some other segment
I've beaten this game in like 15 hours with the dlc and no glitches, it's astonishing how quickly you can get through this game when you know what you're doing.
I spent my winter break on Demon’s souls does that count?
Is this the Dark Souls of video game reviews?
No, but it is a review of a game that has unfortunately become a Scapegoat for Bad Game Journalists
Raising a pet is indeed Dark Souls. They sap your money with food, vet bills, etc., they mercilessly attack you (with love), and they're hard to ignore.
Looking forward to fan art of Solaine. :) May God give her a speedy recovery!
She looks so small and adorable!
BigBossMan538 Are you sure it’s Solaine and not Selene? I mean, I’d love if it was the former but I heard Selene.

I always thought John would suit a pet, not so much a dog but other pets like a tortouise...called paul. Just a note I think you might have spelt Selene wrong.

23:01 - KITTY!
Also a Dark Souls review. Nice.
The ending features the ultimate boss.... the one that can kill you in a single glance by melting your heart and forcing you to scream 'SQUEEEEEEEE' while causing your arms to convulse.
Oh my God! A kitty!
Sometimes I come back to this video just to see the cute kitty.
Same.
awwww KITTY!!!!!
Totally worth sitting though this review to the very end just to see that little kitten.
It's worth mentioning that once you learn how these games works you'll be able to beat it WAY faster than your first playthrough. My first Soulsborne game was DS3, and my first playthrough took more than 60 hours. Nowadays, I can beat it in less than 15 hours.
Yknow that dark souls 3 is easier than Dark Souls 1. I'm not contradicting your statement, but its just a little factoid for ya there.
Blightown was also nicknamed Lagtown.
Also the fact that you so much as sneeze in that place, you aggro a shit-ton of poison/toxic fuckers who'll wreck your shit.
The frame rate is why I consistently avoid that one area in Darkroot Garden with the giant cats. Fuck those things.
KITTY!
The lore of this game is amazing.

Mojo Kor I was thinking the same thing
Dark Souls is the Cuphead of Crash games.
Iggni Fyre no Dark Souls is the Crash of Cuphead games
such a cute little kitten good job john
Awesome to see you tackle Dark Souls Johnny. Glad you enjoyed it, it's become one of my favorite series.
Also adorable kitten is ADORABLE :D
You never saw the Artorias of the Abyss content?! =(
Likely didn't want to fork out the money for the dlc, especially with the remaster so close to this videos release, making getting the dlc kinda moot
But he played the Prepare to Die Edition. So it was already included.
Guess he just missed it. It is kinda hard to find if you play with no Walkthroughs at all though.
Krvys He played the Prepare To Die Edition, which includes the Artorias of The Abyss DLC.
This was my bad. Forgot the PC version was only the prepare to die edition.(and the thumbnail still uses the original dark souls case)
Still, 100% my bad
Does suck.. Artorias is probably one of my favorite fights from DS1
