Last week I had a hysterectomy which I was NERVOUS about (of course!?) and I am so so so so grateful for Meg, Kate and Kellie for for holding space for me as I listened to their stories of getting their hysterectomies at a young age. I had plenty of questions for them and they were amazing at answering them honestly.

I got total hysterectomy out when I was only 22 years old, I got my first period at 17 years old it's totally hell cuz on period for 3 weeks & no period is one week- every monthly. Very opposite from your all normal women on period for one week & no period for 3 weeks- every monthly! My Dr try do everything to get my period back to normal! I went thru D/C surgeries twices, it's got worst then Dr just fed up & offered me for total hysterectomy? I say HELL YES, let's do it! I got mine out on March 2002! It's BEST DAY of my life!

Thank you for this vlog. And see other ladies journey. Heartfelt.. I’d like to share mine here. I had mine at age 27. Due to period last two weeks every month with two boxes of maxi pads and tampons every month Allergy to iron orally and had to receive infernon shots weekly basis which fail build up low anemia. Tried bc. And failed. Finally partial hysterectomy at age 27. After surgery my red blood cell went down to 8.0 from 12.0. Forced to have blood transfusion which I bawled in tears and not want. Dr said I have other options eat plenty of irons for two weeks I’ll build up my red blood cells due to surgery loss lot of blood. Good enough he was right
Yes he was concerned about not have more kids I told him I’m done due to health reason. After surgery next day he brought in his darling baby daughter maybe 3 months old and left me alone with her. I gave her sweet attention and she was cooing I looked up why Dr left and found he was peeking at me at door way looking at us. He was satisfied he didn’t make mistakes performed me partial hysterectomy I told him I’m finished with kids. Have two beautiful daughters.
It was most painful like others says in video here. I was up walking next day. Nurse force me. I didn’t have great support back then. I bet more supportive these days than 36 years ago. I had trouble with constipation and they have me warm prune juice. It was very helpful. If you ever run into that. Ask for it instead of RX for it.
Wish you all the best. I don’t miss my period and very very happy no more two weeks worth of periods. Bad time with low red blood cells as anemia for years. Pray for you! ❤
