  • A high quality video with high quality audio of a Howard Miller clock with Whittington chime. Probably the best sounding clock in my collection!
Please Note: This clock is NOT for sale!
History: Clock is from 1976, originally bought from a local furniture store in December of the same year for $570. It has all the documentation including the original sales receipt, copy of cashiers check, servicing receipts from 1979 and 1983 (when it was overhauled the first time), and original paperwork from Howard Miller along with an ad clipping with picture from the store it was bought from. Nice to know all the history of this clock! It contains an Urgos 32008 (or new model 32326) triple chime movement that I recently overhauled. Clock was gifted to me from the original owner's son who said it hadn't worked in over 10 years. Case is in near-excellent shape, and is now running very well!

One of the most beautiful chimes I’ve heard.

It's a good lead into English Change Ringing, where a melody is a set of permutations of all the bells. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Change_ringing

That's pretty interesting, actually. After checking that out, I researched where the different chimes (Westminster, Whittington, St. Michael's, Winchester, etc) came from and was excited to learn they are from real cathedrals, churches, etc.

This is actually a more modern Urgos movement. Older Urgos movements have giant chime cylinders

Understood. I have a Kieninger grandmother clock that has a very pleasant hour strike, but unable to get it anywhere near my studio mic without some fancy footwork lol

@@BrackenClockWorks do you like German grandfather clocks with a coiled gong strike

I do, and funny you should mention that... I recently overhauled a W&H grandfather with a very large coiled gong. It has a very unique, warm sound to it. If I think of it, I'll try to get a video of it next time I'm in the shop.
