    4 - 1 = 3
    Kobe wears #24, LeBron wears #23

      If you're gonna give Kobe a 5 for athleticism then you can't give LeBron a 4 for scoring. The margin between their athleticism and scoring ability is about the same. LeBron is much more athletic than Kobe and Kobe is a much better scorer than LeBron.

    Lebron is a better all around player, Kobe is an all around player too but Kobe is a better scorer. Now hear me and don't use stats. Anyone who saw Kobe in his prime will KNOW he is a better scorer. Imo they're obviously both legendary, just the teams you need to build around them is different. They both make their teams better. Kobe leads by example and show while Lebron makes his team better on court. Skill wise I believe Kobe is better if not very much comparable to Jordan. Lebron is a perfect perfect franchise player. Just the teams around them need to be different. All being said I'm blessed to have seen both even if Kobe was a little aged.

      Bedcorn comparing the two in their primes, LeBron is still a better player though, but I see what you mean, comparing both of their whole careers is a little unfair to kobe

    • @kakhagvelesiani3877
      @kakhagvelesiani3877 7 лет назад +10

      +Tim is Jim isn't it little unfair to Lebron atm though ? Kobe finished his career and had opportunity to show us more than Lebron and win more championships. For a;; we know Lebron can win another 1 -2 MVP or 2 -3 champs and have some terrific clutch perfomances in playoffs. The fact that after playing less in NBA than Kobe many people can already say that he is better speaks volumes and with more time he can win more . However in terms of PPG and FG% , yeah it's little bit unfair to Kobe considering his last years and injury problems.

    • @schoolboyfr7655
      @schoolboyfr7655 7 лет назад +4

      True I think it'll will be easier once both of their careers are over. When lebron gets older his career averages will go down just like Kobe.

    • @BEDCORN
      @BEDCORN 7 лет назад +1

      +mace slot You can't compare a player purely on stats, and the eye-test is swayed towards Lebron because half the people on this video probably never watched Kobe in his prime and even if they did it's a faint memory. Lebron recently had a historic finals performance (with the help of bad boy Kyrie might I add) and I think it is safe to say half of us are prisoners of the moment and like to overreact.

    I think what really is understated about Kobe Bryant is what he did during the 3 peat with Shaq. He scored 40 pts multiple times while Shaq struggled and really helped the team when needed. Regardless Kobe was always the go to player during the 4th in all situations. Not trying to take anything away from Lebron but everyone always says Kobe had Shaq, but Lebron won his first 2 rings with Dwade and Bosh who were franchise players and at their primes. Dwade and bosh equal in value of Shaq if not more. Then you have Kyrie and Love vs Pau. Moreover Kobe's prime years in the league the West has been always the far more tougher league. Kobe has beaten 24 50+ win teams where Lebron has beaten 7 so far. Lebron has faced one MVP in the east and that was Rose, where as Kobe faced Nash (2 time MVP), Dirk(1 MVP), Duncan(2 time MVP), Kevin Garnett (1 MVP) and destroyed AI in the finals who was a MVP.

      @KobeR and kobe had a negative defensive plus minus for multiple years that he was part of the all defensive first team, he didn’t deserve those. • @Hamard9
      @Hamard9 3 года назад

      @KobeR look at it this way, ben wallace some view to be the greatest defender ever. He’s played 16 years in the nba and won 4 dpoy tied for the most with dikembe mutombo. He had THE highest dpm ever, yet he was only selected 5x to all defensive first team... it makes no sense statistically but for some reason he almost has only half of kobe’s all defensive first teams which makes no sense which imo makes being selected to it hold almost no weight if the best defender ever is only selected to it 5/16 years

    All you need to know in the Kobe vs Lebron debate is what LAKERS LEGEND Jerry West (on and off the court as an all time great executive who traded for Kobe on draft night and Shaq....he's won multiple executives of the year awards) said WAY BACK in 2009 (when Lebron had barely hit his prime). In 2009 he was asked who he would take number 1 and he said "Lebron James no question and this below".

    It's so close at this point. LeBron had has a bit more success in the RS, but his cleveland teams from 03-10 were better than Kobe's lakers from 05-07. Kobe had to play in a MUCH tougher conference than LeBron, he eliminated 10 50+ win teams just in 08-10, while LeBron has not eliminated that many in his entire career.

      Kobe is a more versatile player on offense? LeBron has shown that he can play in multiple roles 1-5 and be successful eg. point guard against the warriors, in the post in the Miami years and as an elite slasher in his early years.
      Also, Kobe was not robbed of 3 MVP`s, putting up big numbers on garbage teams is admirable but is not MVP worthy and the one he did win should have been won by CP3.

      lol nice try , LBJ played in the EAST, you blind sycophant. :)
      LBJ's stats are inflated from the get-go because *it's like playing against ABA and college teams* compared to the West Conference.
      Just imagine Kobe getting , for his entire career(!): 4 games a year vs the Knicks and Raptors and Bobcats - and only 2 against the Dubs Spurs Rockets Mavs and Lakers EVERY DAMN YEAR - and that's barely the tip of that iceberg let alone the playoffs lolol
      LBJ did not "win" the argument here....nor did he in the Finals. LeBron has 3 Ws and lost SIX TIMES, Bryant has FIVE and lost only two., LBJ playing against panzee teams to get there.
      Bryant, meanwhile, had to BEAT those teams (that LBJ then loses to) to get there, genius.
      This is why me and every other genuine Lakers fan of over 20-yrs is not so excited about LBJ coming here.

    Kobe was more skilled around the perimeter, better defense, better footwork, better free throw shooting. I don’t think it’s fair to say that Lebron is automatically a better scorer or shooter just because of numbers and percentages. For example, DeAndre Jordan has the highest field goal percentage in the history of basketball but that doesn’t mean he’s the greatest scorer. Numbers can be deceiving which is why context matters. Otherwise, Bill Russell would be considered the greatest who ever lived.
    Kobe is the only shooting guard other than Jordan to have NINE all defensive first teams. People forget how versatile Kobe was as a defender. It’s difficult to have a high scoring efficiency when you are playing hard defense all day and all night on day in and day out on the other end of the floor like Kobe was. Kobe would guard teams best players, pick people up full court, chase them all around the perimeter, fight through screens, stay with his opponents, trash talk, etc…. That takes a tole on yourself and if Lebron ever played the defense Kobe did or worked hard both ways the way Kobe did it on a nightly basis it would be much more difficult for Lebron to score with such high efficiently. Lebrons teammates create opportunities for Lebron by playing hard defense but nobody ever talks about that. The reason why Lebron is an efficient scorer is because his teammates help him by playing hard defense and he drives to the basket more so he’s either finishing at the rim or finishing close in the paint. Teams would play zone against Lebron because they wanted him to rely on his outside shooting rather than finishing at the rim and slashing. Could you imagine playing a zone against Kobe or Steph??? It wouldn’t happen.
    Also, Kobe would literally get doubled, tripled and even quadruple teamed on a nightly basis and in his era the paint and lane were way more clogged up because the floor spreading wasn’t the same back then as it is now. People forced Kobe to take tough shots and he would still often make them more times than not. The 2006 season he averaged 35 points a game, averaged 40 for a whole month, and dropped 81 on the raptors which are things that Lebron could never do in his prime. People say that it was selfish basketball but at the time he had nobody around him and he was basically playing with a bunch of scrubs because of their rebuild mode. Kobe should have at least two more regular MVPs and most people would agree.
    Lastly, Kobe did all of this while also being injured and hurt. It’s difficult to have high quality efficiency percentages when you are basically grinding through all of it because of injuries. Won a championship with a broken finger and even tried staying on the court after tearing his Achilles. Had knee, ankle, and back problems during his prime as well and still played hard the way he did. If Lebron had this kind of mindset I don’t think he would be as efficient offensively like he has been throughout his career. He saves his energy. Kobe was a monster on both ends of the floor and he was tough as nails. There’s a reason why people feared him. Kobe would beat Lebron in a 1 on 1 game easily but Lebron is a better facilitator, passer, and getting others involved. Kobe had the killer mindset of give me the damn ball and get out of my way because I want to make it happen. Kobe also saved USA basketball in 2008. He was a leader among leaders. These are all the things that stats and numbers won’t tell you.

    1.Kobe in his years with Shaq was as good all-around as LeBron. He even played point for nearly 1.5 seasons (1999-2001) and averaged 5-6 assists in triangle offence.
    2. I do not agree that Kobe was selfish. I agree that sometimes he took to many bad shots, especially after the three-peat times, but that's not because he was selfish or wanted all the fame. There were many other reasons people just don't want to acknowledge.
    3. Kobe is one of the primary reasons why Lakers lost 2004 finals to Detroit. But that was mostly because of the off the court events, feud with Shaq and other things. On the other hand LeBron played horrible in 2011 finals just for no reason (or as Mark Cuban said it was only because of Mavericks defensive game plan LeBron choked in 4 straight 4th qtrs, haha!). He just was that bad and mentally weak. You cannot compare Kobes 2004 finals and LeBrons 2011 when you talk about their failures.
    4. I always trying to explain to people that you can not compare LeBron and Kobe just by stats, numbers, rings or accomplishments. They are too different. Their strong and weak sides are too different. The only thing how can you at least somehow compare those 2 players, is WHO YOU TRUST MORE AT GETTING IT DONE.
    And I'm trust Kobe more.
    P.S. Nice that you remember Mookie Blaylock! Those were good old times when Hawks with Mookie/Smitty/Mutombo battled Jordan/Pippen/Rodman Bulls in mid-90's!

    Kobe is better hands down. Kobe is more fundamentally sound on offense and defense. LeBron is a better team player but doesn't have the same killer instinct as Kobe. LeBron relys a lot on his physical stature to propel him to success. Kobe was a lot shorter and smaller and was more dominant. LeBron needs to be surrounded by at least two top 10 players in order to win titles. LeBron is willing to move from team to team to chase titles.

I would also like to point out that Lebron also needed star players to win his first championship. One thing never brought up about Kobe's shot selection, especially in his second finals run. And Phil Jackson himself said this. The way they ran the offense at that time, if shit in the triangle (although Jackson didn't run the triangle quite as much during this period) or whatever they were running, post play to Gasol, whatever, if shit didn't work out, the plan was to get the ball to Kobe once there was only about 8 seconds left on the shot clock. Then the idea was Kobe would do whatever he had to do. Which usually meant an iso with 6-7 seconds left and a tough shot. This was the bail out plan. It was what he was SUPPOSED to do. Obviously it was usually a low % play and it hurt Kobes efficiency. But it wasn't nearly as low of a % play as it should have been and Kobe actually made a lot of those tough shots. It doesn't excuse all of his "bad" shot selection but it is something you have to keep in mind.

      It placed him on the Top 5 GOAT list.

    This is probably one of the better comparisons between Kobe and LeBron I've seen. I love how Legend was unbiased, didn't blindly read stats, and mentioned Kobe's severe injuries and declining years which negatively impacted his stats. I also love how he mentioned that Kobe's selfishness and bad shot selection which slightly hurt his FG%.
    Some things I thought you should've mentioned was that Kobe wasn't always a starter, and that he also had to share the ball with another top 10 player of all time. Things I disagreed on was the passing, rebounding, and accolades. Kobe should'be been a 4 for passing, not a 3.5. He was an extremely good passer when he chose or had to be. He also averaged 5 assists per game for his career which is really good for a shooting guard. And LeBron is not a perfect rebounder. He's also not that great at offensive rebounding despite his position advantage which is backed up by his averages. He's a great rebounder, but he shouldn't have a perfect score. And lastly, they should've at least been tied in accolades. When you ignore the regular season MVP comparison (that award is a misleading), LeBron's achievements don't even compare to Kobe's. Kobe has more NBA championships and half the losses, has way more All NBA and All Defense selections; including 1st Teams, and he has more scoring championships and WAY more scoring feats.
    In conclusion, this was a pretty good non-biased comparison; but you should've included more facts, and you also were a little wrong on some categories. Even though I'm a Kobe fan and think he's the better individual player, I still respect your opinions and this comparison. 👍

    Out scored the mavs 62-61 and sat out the whole 4th quarter which was his own decision! (Phil asked if he wanted to go in and he said "Na, were up by 30 points.." Teammates said are you crazy? You can hit 70-80+ tonight!! And Kobe replied "I'll do it another time when it is needed" One month later did exactly that....
    4 straight 50 point games (modern NBA record)
    9 straight 40 point games (modern NBA record)
    16 straight 30 point games (modern NBA record)
    Ten 50 point games in a single season (modern NBA record)

    37 game winning shots (NBA record)
    22 game tying shots to force OT (NBA record)
    Twelve 3s in a single game (NBA record)
    9 consecutive 3s made (NBA record)
    Only player to average 40 PPG for a calendar month (did it 4x)
    Robbed of a 2-3 of MVPs (Because bitch claimed rape and Steve Nash??? gets 2 in a row? C'mon now
    2005-2006 Season scored more Points in 3 moths than 3 all-star, one being greated power forward of all time Tim Duncan did all season.
    Won 5-7 NBA championships without needing 2 other top 5 best players in the league at the time on his team.
    Watch career highlights of each time Kobe was guarded by LeBron and Jordan and highlights where he guarded them and he killed them offensively and shut them down defensively by a much greater percentage.
    Also 2000 and 2004 US Olympics both had amazing roster of players, yet Kobe chose not to play because of marriage in 00' and legal issues in 04' (which LeBron was on) went on to win the Bronze losing 2/3 games out of 8, Kobe was added to same Roster basically and in 2008 and 2012 went 8-0 winning Gold Medals two olympics in a row...
    I can go on and on...do i really need to? I mean LeBron is great, no doubt about it..But 3-8 championships and only won with All-Star teams and essentially turned the NBA into the garbage moneyball game it is today...not to mention he lost in the finals to arguably the worst NBA Champions in the modern NBA generation, "scratch that" the Mavs are the worst Champs in modern NBA.
    End of discussion. Period. Even MJ and countless NBA players who know way more about the game than this Video Game All-Star have said it who have played against both of them...Delete this garbage nonsense video. Oh yea, after 20 years and coming back after worst injury an NBA player could have scored 60 points his final game...give me a break of that kit-kat bar.

    There are a lot of things you left out in this video LOW.
    - Yes you mentioned clutchness and killer mentality but didn't show us the stats. Because when you look at them, LeBron actually outperforms Kobe in many levels in the playoffs. Kobe has better stats during the regular season but LeBron's clutch stats are MUCH better in the playoffs than Kobe's.
    - You gave Kobe the egde in scoring but I disagree. Yes Kobe has better scoring abilities but again, LeBron averages more PPG with a better FG%. Even when you look at their first 13 seasons, the amount LBJ has played as of today, he still edges Kobe by 2 ppg with a 5% better average. Even in the playoffs, LeBron has the edge in scoring. You at least should've given them the same amount of points for scoring, Kobe having better scoring abilities but LeBron averaging more.
    - Playoffs stats should've been shown to us too.
    - You also mentioned Kobe 05-06 season but not LeBron 08-09, 09-10, 11-12 and 12-13. Those four seasons were all better than Kobe's 05-06.
    - And I also would've liked to see more advanced stats, like Win Shares, VORP and more attention to PER.
    But other than that, this was a great video LOW. I hope this blows up and makes your channel bigger than it is right now because you deserve it.

    i live in los angeles and i used to hate lebron and love kobe but when i got older and started to watch basketball outside of just the lakers and lebron became my favorite player and so many people over here say kobe is the greatest of all time. Im one of the few that would take lebron over kobe any day. All my friends are so kobe and laker biased that its just impossible to have a normal basketball conversation so i when they talk about kobe i dont mention lebron i just go along with the conversation.

    Lebrons rating on defense shouldn’t be 5, it should be 4 and Kobe should be 5 rebounding should be a 4.5 and accolades should be damn near equal cuz mvps aren’t valid. I’m not saying bron isn’t better but the gap should be a lot closer hence they are both top 3 players. The media shouldn’t be allowed to debate about it

    Giving Kobe a 4.5 on defense was bs. He’s on of the greatest permit we defenders of all time. He is tied for the 2nd most all nba defensive selections at 12, with 9 first team selections. Kobe’s elite perimeter defense consistently
    through his career gives him the edge. Lebron’s versatility is also great but especially in the last few seasons, His willingness on the defensive end has taken a significant dip.Versatility doesn’t equal superiority.Kobe should have got a 5 and Lebron should have gotten a 4. I still have bron as the greater player though.

    What do you consider intangibles? To me you have to consider things like playing the entire playoffs with a broken hand and still being a key factor in winning a championship, or tearing your Achilles and still shooting the free throws as opposed to leaving a playoff game because of leg cramps. The willingness and ability to take and make the big shots in crunch time. On the biggest stages more often than not the most crucial shot in LeBron’s 3 were taken and made by Wade, Ray Allen or Kyrie. Lebron made teammates better, but i would say that Kobe made players like Smush Parker and Devon George better as well. The intangibles are related to things like IQ, will to win, how you respond in the clutch etc. and Kobe wins that hands down with. Even with teammates around lebron he was only able to win 3 out of 9 attempts at a ring. If you want a regular season and some playoff games pick Lebron, if you want a winner and championships pick Kobe.

    Lebron is clearly the overall better player because he can just do more. He can really do it all except shoot great consistently. Point proven, his free throw percentage. Kobe is the more skilled basketball player however just based on being able to do more with the basketball IN his hands. Idk how LOW can say other players can score just as much or well when the feats and longevity of Kobe's onslaughts have only been seen my one other man in NBA history...Michael Jordan. Wilt does not count. Kobe was robbed of awards and even playoff success in his absolute prime because of the horrible team he was on, in my opinion less talented than LeBron's when he went the finals, and Kobe was in the MUCH more difficult conference. Once the east had one really great team however, LeBron never made it back to the finals until he formed the big 3. Put Kobe in his prime on the 2015 Cavs and they are winning the chip. NUFF said.

      MrLucas924 Wilt Chamberlain a better scorer then Kobe. Wilt Chamberlain avg 50 PPG in a Season and Scored 100 Points in a Game and has most 40 Point Games with 273 and Kobe never did none of that.
      Put Kobe on 2015 Cavs they wouldn't win anything but a trip home he can't do what LeBron can do from a All Around basketball standpoint
